It took 6 seasons and 32 years, but they finally let Wolverine stab somebody.
In the old show he was only allowed to carve up Sentinels so I'm glad that censorship's gone.
I'm lowkey glad they didn't back then because it would probably give me nightmares 😅 If they did the adamantium rip scene back then I would have gotten PTSD

Cyclops had to stop professor X, because if he didnt the prime sentinels wouldve definitely over powered the xmen, i mean we saw how they all already got whooped by bastion and sinister, imagine now when all the prime humans get back.

And the only one left standing at that point was Jean. Storm and Forge got shot out of the sky. Morph and Beast got captured by Bastion. And Cable was mind controlled by sinister

the reason cyclops stopped xavier is because if he managed to use magnetos powers to fix the planet before gold team stopped bastion, then all the prime sentinals would have been reactivated. And if that happened, they would basically be locking in the extinction of all mutants. On top of that, he's trying to give jean more time to stop cable.
All of that was right except the last part. Why would the situation with jean/cable be affected by xavier? Im also pretty sure that last scene with them was showing that she died.
It was stated bastion can power sentinels through technopathy wouldnt that include prime sentinels

@jeffreyaviles8306 they're more techno than organic since it linked to their nervous system taking full control. Also magneto can distort the fields in your brain stop all non-autonomic functions, which would shut them down as well

Magneto ripping the adamantium out of Logan was metal, no pun intended. And the fact that it ended on that scene. This is one of the greatest masterpieces Marvel has EVER done. I can't wait to see how they bring it all together in part 3.

Exactly. Now I get that the characters may not be looking at this objectively right now. But nothing about Genosha or Magneto's response to Genosha had anything to do with his role at the school or the other X men.

Right. Magneto being in charge didn't cause the issue. Also I love how they just gloss over the fact that the attack on Genosha was a joint operation not just between Bastion and the UN, but also Hydra.

I liked S2 mid season more than the finale and overall just felt like the season kinda lacked something been loving '97 well mostly (wasnt a huge fan of RoguexMagneto gives me certain Bruce Timm vibes) still wondering when they bring Gambit back (I didn't think this season but would like if its at least S2 dont make him wait till S3 as to why I think k he'll come back its X-Men there's multiple ways)

Cyclops didn't fuck up. He seen how bad they were struggling back on Earth. Had Prof. X done that every human sentinal would have come back online too, and they were barely dealing with regular ones. It was the right call overall. They need to deal with both almost at the same time or Bastion, and Magneto would just get the upper hand.

Yes but if Cyclops could think of it in that moment he coulda thought of it when Magneto rode up in the first place. Why didn't Prof X address what the mutants would do after fixing the poles? Why wasn't a plan that everyone bought into made first? Coz this is like disobeying the orders doing your own thing and getting your teammates killed in war coz you suddenly grew a conscious and wanted to "run" or no longer fight; it isn't that it's necessarily wrong because like you said with Scott shit happens and minds change but when someone else's life depends on you playing your part and you fuck it up then that's on you.
Edit: Realised I didn't clarify my point lol. My stance is that Scott fucked up simply because he didn't play the role he was needed to play by the teammates whose side he was standing on. If he had decided to join Magneto initially because he felt that Magneto was the only chance they had to stop the mutants then I would have fucked with all his choices. His problem is just that he dropped the ball and played outside a plan he initially committed to.
Why didn’t Xavier just put him to sleep until that shit on earth was over? Hell, they could’ve went and helped them. Once again the Prof didn’t think things through.
@@returntosoilgumiho The problem with this is you thinking Scott joined Magneto. He didn't, all he did was prolong the fight because like he said Gold Team needed more time. Their plan was to hold Magneto off while Gold Team took out Bastion. They weren't even there to kill him just hold him off or try to talk to him. If you look at the scene prior it was XAVIER that switched the plan up when he told Scott to take Magneto's helmet off, Scott asked "But what about the Prime Sentinals?" And Xavier basically said it didn't matter and Gold Team can handle it (which they CANNOT). Gold Team wasn't ready yet and Scott saw that when he saw Jean and knew if they took Magneto down now it would most assuredly mean Gold Team's death, so he hit Xavier to prolong the fight. Also they weren't there to kill Magneto, so Wolverine switched up the plan as well when he took it upon himself to stab Magneto, and Magneto payed him back in blood, plain and simple. So in all actuality Scott was following the plan they laid out, while Xavier and Wolverine switched up.
Storm comes back: “Hey Jean how’s the baby? Wait where’s Bishop and when did Cable get here? Has anybody seen Remy?”

Love the symbolism of Rogue wearing Gambit’s coat and then leaving it with Charles when she sided with Magneto just reinforcing what Gambit believed about life being “what bits of us we leave behind, and what we carry into the future”.

Someone mentioned it in another comment and it made sense. The "fight" between Magneto and Xavier was always kind of a "gentlemens disagreement". Sure they fought, but neither side wanted to really hurt the other both because they knew they had common enemies, and they hoped to be on the same side one day. However, things have been ramped up now. Charles was going to break into his mind and take control. Something he realistically could have always done but didn't. Then Wolverine tried to kill him. After that the gloves were off.
Seeing Rogue wearing Gambit’s jacket was an obvious clue she was done with everything. 😤

I honestly never thought the infamous scene of Magneto ripping out Wolverine’s adamantium would be adapted to screen, especially because of how brutal and horrific it is. And the fact it was done in the sequel series for one of the most kid friendly shows ever made!
People dont knew that Wolverine be constantly fighting Hulk. We talking a 5’3” vs 7 to 8 ft hulk. This man simply don’t give a shit who his opponents is. Thats what I love about him.

Cyclops shot Professor X because he saw the vision of Gold Team struggling against Bastion.
Gold Team has to stop Bastion first before deactivating Magneto because otherwise the Prime Sentinels go online again if Magneto goes down first.
okay But Xavier had Magneto Stopped. He didn't have to undo the damage right then he could have waited for confirmation that Gold team was succesful before turning on the switch. A simple Conversation with Charles would have sufficed more than blasting him and Freeing magneto from his control

But isn't it kinda iffy that its as if this was something completely that should only have occurred to him coz of a vision? I mean first some of the best mutants and an Omega mutant like Magneto failed against the initial sentinel attack that killed millions and then the second one came in and all the mutants in the X men fought and failed still and the only reason Magneto was able to save them was coz of being to move silently towards the poles. So like why would it not occur to Cyclops or any other mutant that attacking magneto would mean their own death?
@@Cloudstrifehy3 Charles was in the middle of lobotomizing Magneto. He can’t 1.- stop 2.- reverse that, so genuinely the only way to stop him from basically dooming all mutants was a sudden stop.
Scott is rash, but not stupid. His choice made sense.
Charles will sacrifice Mutants for his ideals He’s done it in the books he would do it here. Scott made the right decision.
The show isnt 100% clear on how screwed Earth is. Magneto's global EMP utterly wrecked the Earth's magnetic field. Storm says she can feel the field dying and they only have 12 hours until its gone. The show doesn't state it, but the Earth's magnetic field is the reason we have an atmosphere, without it solar radiation and winds would strip the atmosphere away and leave Earth another Mars. Magneto isnt just sending humanity back to the stone-age, he's razing the entire planet and making Asteroid M an Ark.
The fact the magnetic field protects the atmosphere from solar radiation/winds and the fact they brought in Sunspot for this season might be a coincidence, but maybe not.
The world would be long dead from radiation and heat increasing, as the atmosphere would take some time to be stripped away, but it wouldn't be instant.
So as bad as that all is, I think it was overdramatic of them to say the Earth would be dead in 12 hours. There was plenty of time to first stop Bastion (who is the far greater threat) with the whole team and then tackle Magneto or figure out another solution. Instead, Scott made a bad plan with terrible team matchups and Xavier's constant appeal to idealistic hope in trying to convince Magneto has backfired spectacularly. Xavier was actually really frustrating to listen to this episode, he seems so out of touch with everything.

@@DarkHairedOne I didn't take it as "everyone will be dead in 12 hours". I took it as "In 12 hours what Magneto did will be irreversible and humanity is doomed so we need to get him to fix it before then."
If it was supposed to be "Everyone is dead in 12 hours" then Magneto wouldn't be sitting around on Asteroid M, he'd be going around gathering mutants to save them. The fact he's hiding out in space tells me he's waiting until the 12 hours is up and they are past the point of no return before gathering mutants so to ensure he can't be forced to undo it.
@@VBane Indeed. His plan is to ruin Earth and force mutants to leave with him on the asteroid with what supplies they can take from the dying world. Maybe fix it later or find a new world but regardless the entire planet would go through an extinction event before anyone could stop it. 12 hours was the window to save earth livable state.
One thing I love about Wolverine in this show is that he’s always on GO. He’s ready to take out anybody they gotta fight.

Its crazy that they're making Magento out to be the villain, when everything he has done has been in retaliation to what was done to him. He's already survived one genocide, the friggin Holocaust, and he doesn't want to live through another. And, he tried, he really did, to take the peaceful route, the high road. And it just went the way it always does. At this point, Magneto has every right to do what he has to secure the future for his people. Because, as Beast said one episode, "Our first mistake was begging for your tolerance." There's only so much rhetoric can do, even helpful actions like being heroes. At a certain point you have to say "Fuck this." and fight back, because people will hate you regardless.
but there's a pretty big difference between just "fighting back" and "raze the planet by stripping it of its atmosphere, abandoning billions of lives to inevitably die for something they had no direct involvement in". there's no amount of suffering you can endure that permits you to enact a genocide of your own
Well said. I don't see Magneto as the villain in this story at all. I see him as the enraged reluctant warrior who warned humanity not to try him. They did through Bastion, and his response is that the entire world must suffer for what happened on Genosha. It's tragic. And that's the point.
@@LucLightWolf121 Actually his plan is justifiable if he can pull it off. He's not just making the world suffer. He's destroying all who would threaten his people in the future. Once the earth falls he and his kind will leave the destroyed planet together while the sentinels and humanity all die off unable to escape. From there mutants as the only ones left will be humanity and create a new home.
The issues and costs involved are not minor but the plan isn't about suffering. Its about avoiding extinction and slavery by destroying your enemies. The innocent lives lost and the earths animals are all casualties of war to him. Unfortunate but unavoidable at this point since he can't see them beating Bastion and humanity without this much destruction.
Magnus really got me on the cause on the "Do not make me let you down." Like, he doesn't really like what he was doing, but he was trying and trying HARD. All because of a promise to a friend. That is a man I can get behind.
Cyclops stopped Xavier from taking out Magneto because as soon as he’s out, all the prime sentinels wake up and gold team gets slaughtered. That was Cyclops saying he’d rather risk the whole planet going to shit than lose his son and wife again.
People keep saying Scott did it because of Jean and Cable but…he did it to save all mutants. If the prime sentinels are reactivated then they ALL die, not just gold team.

Sometimes I forget how strong Cable is, but then I realize that he’s the son of Jean Grey’s clone Madelyn. Literally if that technorganic virus wasn’t holding him back, he would be a lot stronger than he showcased against Jean which is kind of scary to think about.
X-Men 97 is the best animated series out right now, literally every episode has been fire. Aside from the amazing dialogue and intriguing story, the fight sequences are pretty dope and creative. They give every major character depth and a chance to shine. I can’t wait for Season 2, since next week’s episode is the season finale.

Basically everything that's been happening on the show, has happened in the books, just told in a different way. Genosha's attack happened in the E for Extinction arc, and Wolverine having his adamantium ripped out happened in the Fatal Attractions story. And Bastion's origin was in the Operation Zero Tolerance arc.

This was my favorite episode so far from the animation to the comic accuracy it's just so good Kevin F. is definitely to thank for all this he has appreciated the X-Men for years and it's now paying off can't wait to see what is next

Glad they did something with Cable's telekinesis though, he's powerful enough that in the comics he was able to go toe to toe with the Silver Surfer at one point.
what i like the most are:
1.Sunspot and Jubliee were fighting like children scene.
2. the comics fatal attractions scene.
I don't know if y'all knew this, but that outfit Rogue was wearing when she stood by Magneto's side was her original bad guy outfit from before she joined the X-Men
If you’re curious about Cable, he actually has the potential to be an Omega Level Telekinetic as well. However most of his power is used to hold back the Techno-Organic Virus in his body(it wasn’t cured) so he can’t use it that often.
Nate Grey(aka X-Man), an alternate version of Cable who was transported to the main universe and had his own comic for a while, was a demonstration of what he could do. (Also random Fun Fact, in the X-Man Annual he gave himself and the Hulk psychic armors that looked exactly like The World from Jojo’s lol- inspired by the 90s Jojo movie)
Its called Fatal Attractions. It was the story arc of Wolverine without his adamantium...and near death because of Magneto.. Wolverine was really jacked up and Xavier Mind Wiped Magneto and turned him into a vegetable as a response

I'm wondering why Magneto wouldn't agree to at least team up against Bastion and Sinister while the world was emp'd.
He knows that they were behind what happened on Genosha, sure others helped back them but he knew that they directly did it. Plus his powers would've been extremely useful in the battle, and they couldn't afford for the X-Men's attention to be divided right now.
After the fight when Bastion and Sinister are defeated, they could debate what path to follow but right now isn't the time for that.
Because as far as Magento was aware/concerned Bastion was powerless and the planet was doomed to die. He doesn't see the need to compromise when he's already technically won. His healing factor is weakend by the adamantium. It's constantly running in the background because the metal is poisoning his body...similar to cable's telekinesis being suppressed most of the time because it's running in the background stopping his virus from progressing.
Cyclops had a bomb ass reason for stopping the Professor but we’re definitely getting Savage Mode Cyclops like in Avengers vs X-Men. We’re definitely getting Onslaught based on all of the stress Charles is getting and his darkness coming out as well as him hijacking Magneto’s consciousness and possibly Dark Phoenix w Jean. But props to the animation team for the stellar recreation of the panel where Magneto does the deed. And Storm’s opposition to Beast’s idea was HILARIOUS!!! Wolverine is about to go feral. The Adamantium being removed actually helped Wolverine. His healing can function much better now that he's not being poisoned.
The difference here is that Wolverine is screaming in pain, in the comic it's stated that he doesn't make a sound because he didn't have time,because the process is so quick

Scott had a choice to make - if he were to not stop Professor, Magneto would be defeated, but with that Bastion would gain his full powers back and ALL PRIME SENTINELS would COME BACK online. The entire gold team would be dead and likely Bastion would kill all mutants on the planet.
In a choice between stopping Bastion and stopping Magneto, Scott, whether consciously or subconsciously, in that moment decided that he would rather stop eradication of all mutants than eradication of all humans.
