I thought Upiko’s voice was amazing, it’s a shame about the subject but ignoring that if I hadn’t have been able to read the translation of what she was singing I would’ve liked it more.
There’s another singer that you should be aware of, Diana Ankudinova, she has a contralto voice so is in a similar vocal range to this, she was an abused child that was taken into care and had a hard life until she found her voice. She was very successful in singing competitions in Russia and a few other countries. A really good start for her songs is Rechenka - a traditional folk song, don’t monetise it, it may get blocked if you do!
