Tips for your next game. 1) Interest is compounded daily not monthly. So, it doesn't matter if you take it at the end of the month or beginning. It also means that ending the level even 2 days earlier is good for costs. 2) you can grow/expand gas while also piping it out to the left or right Inc. You just cant connect the two pipes together. so one from magma to gas. then a separate pipe from gas to inc. 3) Advanced strat is to split the pipes at left or right Inc. Have tier 3 pipes connected in a sideways V shape then tier 1 pipe through at the split node. Use tier 3 pipes until 95% of gas is gone. Then, close the tier 3 pipes at the vertex of the V allowing the gas to only pass through the tier 1 pipe. Itll hold the price while not using much gas, even at 5.50 a barrel, then you start selling so you can sell all oil at 5.30-5.50 rather than $5.10-$5.60-$5.10
the reason the price sometimes goes to 5, sometimes not is probably due to the baseprice of the corp. gas is an extra multiplyer. so if the regular price is only at, say, 1$, you won't get as much with gas, as if the base price was at $1.50
I like how many layers of difficulty Tyler has to impose on himself just to try and make Turmoil a challenge. Expert mode, but I can't start until the 2nd phase, but also I have to get 100% stocks, but also I can't sell any oil to start Next episode's gonna start like "So, I've been wondering; Can I beat Turmoil left-handed while upside down using only 1 horse?"
These recent videos have taught me one thing about Tyler: he has a fantastic credit score. The banks are farming him for money with the hundreds of loans he is constantly taking.
The idea of the exclusivity deal is really cool it would be cool to see if both incs go on a biding war over your exclusivity maybe as a dlc however this could effect the starting oil rate with the company seeing how you would be starting with extra cash
The reason the price might be going up slower is because the base price change also adds to the total change. If it goes slower, it might be because the price it would be at without the gas is going down. I've had a game where i triple (?) piped a gas but it was still going down around 4 bucks.
@ I believe that if he deleted that pipe it would’ve remained the same, the problem is that there was a single triple pipe connected to two triple pipes, one triple pipe can only output one triple pipe worth of material, so connecting it to two is redundant.
This is already super expert and now you are make small challenges into it (and if there is no oil in the last few spaces in this continent then you shouldn’t be taking a lot of loans
I wonder if the inconsistency of gas price increases is due to the rate at which the base price is changing. If it's going up, then the plateau price is also going up, and it can just keep increasing at a consistent rate. But if the price is cratering, the plateau price is also going down, so you're fighting both the actively decreasing base price and the slowdown from reaching the plateau price.
I suspect that the exclusivity deal has a negative effect on the oil price. They know you can only sell to them so they don't have to compete with the other oil buyer.
@whatevername4873 yeah, imagine 4 people having to strategice (dont know how to spell it), about which upgrades to buy and battle it out to become mayor
I wonder if that could be more interactive if selling reduced the oil prices for everyone. Then there's a mind game of when to sell and selling earlier might be viable.
wouldnt it be more efficient to take out a mega loan at the start and only have like 10 % interest on that instead of multiple that makes it about 20% interest
@@mrcookie8600 interest is compounded daily, not at the end of the year, so the 10% interest comes out to be like 23.5% if you take out the loan 10 months earlier
I'm pretty sure the normal price add on top of the gas price, so if the price is bad adding gas won't make it super amazing, you need to factor in the natural price too.
If selling early game is ~$2 (at best) and late game with gas selling is ~$4, doesn't that mean any loan with less than 100% interest rate is worth it?
I feel like it might be worth it to upgrade to a super silo earlier rather than building out as many silos across the map away from the inc you plan to sell to (and away from your drill)
I think the oil prices with gas only go high when the prices are naturally going up already, which compounds with the gas. If the oil prices are naturally going down, then it’s fighting the gas. That’s my theory anyway.
It just gives you a few bucks that you don't need to pay back, but it locks out the other oil company. So you are forced to sell to the one you took the deal with.
I'm assuming the market still follows the same curve when pumping the gas. So before you were just lucky the market went up when you were pumping the gas
Before you empty an oil node, when connencted to lava, close the valve and the remaining oil will become gas and the node will expand and produce gas. Try it 😉
I love the little effects the editor uses to show where the stuff Tyler is talking about is

@imsteve3493 I think you're right but it's been a while. It's super strong with the loan strat though.

oh interesting, so buying a price floor might actually be really helpful so you don't get screwed at the end

most economy games: "if you play optimally, you won't need a loan"
turmoil: "if you play optimally you'll take out so many loans"
it does simulate real life better in this case

Not me constantly refreshing till a new turmoil video drops
Honestly true. I love tyler but most of the games he played in the last month are really mid. Turmoil is great though!
Must be someone else then 🤷♂️
seems to be saturdays' video slot for now. if tomorrow's peglin, i may be right!

Now the real game begins, oil to gas is a different game mode entirely.
You had a bottleneck at the node under the rig in the last game, you needed to connect that gas directly to the second triple pipe to its left.
I think it would have been fine if the left gas pocket didn't start to go right, if you could delete that pipe I think it would have gone faster
@ I believe that if he deleted that pipe it would’ve remained the same, the problem is that there was a single triple pipe connected to two triple pipes, one triple pipe can only output one triple pipe worth of material, so connecting it to two is redundant.

My favorite Tyler is Scientific method Tyler.
man, get this game a competitive online scene that would be sick
I think a pvp mode would do so much for this game. The bots are fun, but it would be so much more fun to fight with your friends

Great series
In the last one maybe directly linking the second gas pocket to left inc would yield the desired effect, not sure though
Nearby pipe joints stop gas pocket growth when the edge hits it.

Biggest piping two gas pockets isn't any faster than biggest piping one gas pocket, I wonder if you can double pipe the inc
Nevermind it doesn't seem to be working

I love that you found how oil companies actually do business. Loans out the wazoo. Too bad you can't just fold the business when the loans come due.
I was wondering why you weren’t taking the exclusivity deals last time, didn’t realize you forgot how they worked!
What does the exclusivity deal do? Does it increase the overall prices of that corpo?
It just gives you a few bucks that you don't need to pay back, but it locks out the other oil company. So you are forced to sell to the one you took the deal with.
