- On December 2, 1954, at his home in Los Angeles, publicist Jess Rand throws a joint celebration to mark his own birthday and Sammy Davis Junior’s return, following a car accident. The celebrations continue on at the Crescendo Club with the evening finally ending at the Club Mocambo.
On December 8, 1954, Sammy Davis Junior celebrates his 29th birthday at his home in Los Angeles. Among the guests are Cindy Bitterman, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Bob Neal, Jeff Chandler as well as Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe and Milton Greene.
Look at her with the little boy who was lying down. So tender and sweet. She would have made a wonderful mother. Rest in power, beautiful queen.

That s not a good background for a child.Don t missunderstand me, i love Marilyn but a Mother who is depressiv,mental illegal, alkoholic and eating pills like bread is ,for me, not strong enough raising a child.Imagine you have a child and kill your self, poooor child.

Hello Karen. I just wrote your information here, down in my Marilyn calendar. Thanks. So wonderful to see these celebratory photos of everybody. Oh to be a fly on the wall. Sadly Sammy had that terrible car accident on November 19. Just about two weeks prior. Nothing could keep Sammy down. Funny how Marilyn's date (I think, looking up at Sammy at the Crescendo) on the left seems to disappear here. Also December 8 was the date "There's No Business Like Show Business" was released. Marilyn on the threshold of becoming the "new" Marilyn.

Do you know if Sammy Davis Jr. injured his eye in that car accident or was that an injury or something that he already had ? I was just curious. I noticed they were all wearing eye patches in one of the pictures.
@@Minlaroo Everyone at Sammy's birthday party were behind him 100%. Sammy isn't in that picture of the 4 of them, with Tony Curtis on the left. They all wanted to be in high spirits for Sammy's sake. A bit of black humor here..."the show must go on".

@@Minlaroo Tony knew Marilyn way before their film together, "Some Like It Hot". I think Tony was a part of the "rat pack" at this time too, so was Judy Garland.

@@karenweldon2143 She's among friends. She's not posing. This should not be heartbreaking, and you'll live even after I tell you. Marilyn started drinking champagne early in the day, and then throughout. She was an alcoholic, as alcoholic is commonly defined.
@@akrenwinkle Amongst friends but clearly photographers are present too. People are always quick to judge others but maybe we should not be so hasty after all the 1950’s was a very different era & drinking and smoking was just part of the social culture.
This makes me smile and laugh. I think Marilyn was a naturally funny woman. ❤️😆
My uncle, dad and grandfather are in these. I have many of the originals.
