  • Here is another dresser still in its original home. It was made just before 1920 by Jim Ryan, a neighbour of Johns, who lived less than a mile away. John remembers him from his youth and he was a small man but extremely gifted and did all the carpentry work in the house including the stairs, doors, shutters and mug rack.
    It was made for two uncles and an aunt of his father who were called Bill, Kate and Jim Mcloughney. The delicate cups on the mug rack were a wedding present gift given to his mother Josephine. The dresser was painted a light green for most of its life and back in 2018 a new worktop and cabinet was fitted beside it.
