Ich empfinde eine sehr starke Ambivalenz zu diesem Land. Yes, my dear, there is one more thing I am really proud of as a German and that is the uprising against fascism in the entire republic. There are demonstrations against hatred everywhere, even in the smallest village. And that makes me not only happy but also hopeful. Everything you want to convey in your videos ♥
      I want to be honest and say that sometimes I still use the "Google" translator. But more and more I can write freely in English (think anyway😉) And you are, among other things, the reason why I like practicing my English better and better as a German😘

    Hi Lauren, I really love your appeciation about Germany. I didn't think I would blush watching any of your videos, but so be it. But on the other hand it wouldn't make much sense for you to want to live here.

    I'd say you are right in thinking that Germans abroad don't necessarily want to bump into other Germans. At least that's the case for me.
    It's not about being particularly cool or being lumped in with other bad apples. But when I'm abroad in my free time (whether on vacation or for professional reasons), I like to immerse myself into the life of that country. I like to chat with the locals, experience their culture or simply enjoy their local cuisine. For example, you will hardly ever find me in a restaurant abroad that serves German specialties. I can have that when I'm in Germany, I don't need to go abroad for it. I'm also less likely to be found in tourist hotspots, more likely to be in a small pub where only a few tourists get lost. Or I sit down in the outdoor area of a coffee shop, watch people going about their business and enjoy the time. Even if it sometimes requires leaving your comfort zone due to the language barriers or communication difficulties. In this way, I have experienced many, often unexpected, things that I remember fondly. I still have so many memories of my first visit to the UK, of the friendliness and helpfulness of the people, that I could talk about it for hours, even though it was 30 years ago and I have been there many more times in the meantime. For example, I was walking with my colleagues from different countries in the evening at Picadilly Circus and asked a young woman if she would take a group photo of us. When I went to thank her afterwards, she told me that it had been a pleasure for her to be able to help us. Her kindness blew me away at the time. It literally left me speechless. Sometimes it really is the little things that count.

    Na ja, das mit dem Lebensstandard ist so eine Sache, besonders als freischaffender Künstler. Solange es mit den Engagements gut läuft, kann man in Deutschland gut leben - aber in England wohl auch. Mit genug Geld kann man sich ja überall aussuchen wo man lebt, oder welche Krankenversicherung man hat usw.
    Mit sehr wenig Geld gibt es wahrscheinlich Länder, wo man einfacher klar kommt als in Deutschland (oder dem UK). Und wo auch noch besseres Wetter ist... :)

    • @LaureninGermany
      @LaureninGermany  9 месяцев назад +3

      Ich kann nur sagen, in GB müsste ich 1 Jahr, mindestens warten, für Termine die ich in Deutschland einfach so bekommen kann. Meine Zahnärzte hier waren über die Zahnmedizin in meinem Mund schockiert. Und die Wohnungen, die ich in Deutschland bewohnt habe, waren Welten von denen in GB, und waren billiger. Auch Arbeit bekommt man als Künstler in D, weil es die Tourneetheater bzw Kleinkunstkultur gibt.
      Aber das mit dem Wetter… hmm… ich arbeite oft an der Nordsee, und Euer Winter haut mich immer um 🤣

      Ich vermute doch mal, wenn Du keine Festanstellung bei einer Oper oder Theater hast, bist Du privat krankenversichert. Dadurch bist Du ja auch in Deutschland "was besseres" als die einfachen Kassenpatienten. Und das wird doch auch in England ähnlich sein.
      Betreff der Wohnungen... das hängt doch sicher sehr von der Lage ab, hier wie dort. Die Großstädte sind teuer und oft auch nicht schön, zumindest in Teilen. Im Ruhrgebiet gibts auch Ecken, die in Punkto Dreck und Kriminalität London in nichts nachstehen. Aber wer will schon in einer Großstadt wohnen...
      Übrigens - wir jammern hier auf hohen Niveau, anderswo auf der Welt läuft es noch viel übler ab. Und ich rede nicht von Afrika oder so, sondern zB. von den USA.
      Schau die mal die Videos auf dem YT Kanal Street Souls an! Da fällt einem nichts mehr ein - sowas in einem angeblich modernen, zivilisiertem Land!

      Nein, ich bin gesetzlich versichert. Ich kann es mir nicht leisten, privat gesichert zu sein. Ich bin Künstlerin. Keine Chance. Aber ich bekomme Termine bei ausgebildeten Frauenärte, Orthopäden, Endokrinologen...der Wahnsinn! Manchmal muss ich auch warten, aber im Vergleich zu GB ist es ok. In Wales haben sie nicht mal einen Krankwagen für einen alten Mann (mein Vater) der nicht atmen konnte geschickt.
      Aber ich glaube, Du wirst mir nicht glauben können, dass es mir hier besser geht, obwohl ich in Wales und London, Mannheim, Darmstadt, Düsseldorf und München gewohnt habe, und über die Unterschiede gut informiert bin.

    • @petebeatminister
      @petebeatminister 9 месяцев назад

      @@LaureninGermany Sorry, ich glaube wir reden hier aneinander vorbei. Gesetzlich versichsrt ist man als Angestellte bei einer Firma, nicht als Freiberufler.
      Aber egal, mag ja sein das es in England schlimmer beim NHS läuft als hier - aber unsere Regierung tut ihr bestes das wir auch dort hinkommen. Wart es nur ab.
      Also bei London, München und Mannheim glaube ich Dir das sofort. Wales und Darmstadt kenne ich nicht, und Düsseldorf fand ich halbwegs normal. Außer man will in der Schickimicki Szene mitmachen. Aber ist vieleicht auch mittlerweile überteuert. Wie so vieles in Deutschland. Da kommen schwere Zeiten auf die Normalverdiener zu, das wird unschön.

    You're a delight Lauren, I wish South Wales had Germany's attitude to litter apart from anything else.
    I pick up litter locally that just shouldn't be there to be picked up, people blame the council for not picking it up but I'd rather they spent our council tax on providing services to the public like care for the elderly, disabled etc. Why should they waste money paying someone to pick up other people's trash that should be binned or recycled. I love living in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 but I don't love the way folk behave who share it with me. ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤

      Oh what a shame. People lose hope and it‘s a downward spiral then.

    You definitely have a very narrow view on Germany and missing a lot of news. (Enjoy being uninformed, it saves you from a lot of fears.)
