I've been saying this since the chapter came out! No, there are not "two Nikas"! Bonney is just inspired by him and her faith and imagination have returned thanks to Luffy, but there is only one "NIka" (or representation of Nika). The representation of Nika is not just Luffy in G5, the warrior who liberated and brought smiles to Alabasta, Skypiea, Fishman Island, Dressrosa, Wano... that was Luffy way before G5, Bonney cannot be that now. But she can be at her most free and follow in his footsteps like her father did, which is the whole point of being freed by the "warrior of liberation".

People complaining that Bonney is a “Marry Sue” bc Luffy got 1000+ chapters of development have to realize that those 1000+ chapters only culminate to a little over 2 years in the story 😂 both Luffy and Bonney have gone through so much it’s just Luffy is the character we’ve been following. A huge part of Bonney’s story is Kuma, a character who’s been with us for about half of those 1000+ chapters so he deserves some kind of payoff as well (alla his daughter being “free” after a life of entrapment). I don't remember if it was Artur or someone else, but I recall someone making the claim that Nika is a fictional character from a comic book, or something to that effect. Watching this video and seeing the term "White Warrior" being thrown around has made that theory much more believable to me. If we are to assume that that comic book in question is a Japanese manga, then calling Nika a White Warrior makes sense, since manga doesn't use colors and is simply black lines on a white page. I also think it's beautiful that Oda is using a suffering child overcoming her hardships as a catalyst to develop this theme.
Nah I love that Bonney was able to transform. Her dream is coming true in real time and all anyone can do is complain that it somehow trivializes Luffy's power. It's the exact opposite. It's one of the great achievements of Luffy's power. Because his power isn't his fighting ability, it's his ability to inspire and make friends.

I really liked the idea when you said that vegapunk meant to say there is a traitor within the D clan. However, I don't think he was referring to blackbeard but to King Imu who might be Nefatari D Lily. Vegapunk didn't mention King Imu before because maybe he doesn't know about them. But Vegapunk knows that Uranus was used which might require someone from the D clan to operate. Hence, the traitor who uses the weapons to harm and destroy

I’ve been in the "Bonney's going to join the RA” camp for a while. And with these Nika-like powers, I can definitely see it. Because now, Bonney can act as an apostle for Nika the Sun God. At the same time, I’m also considering the “Bonney going to join the SHs” camp more than ever. Her turning into a Nika form feels very apprentice-coded. Especially with the way Luffy supports and recognizes her power like he does with all of his crew mates and friends. It goes into the themes of Luffy’s leadership that have been prevalent since Post-timeskip. Then again, Oda has always been good at the SHs’ power sets not overlapping too much. But I love the sentiment that the daughter of slaves can see herself as completely free. And I've seen many people worried that now they can spread Gear 5 like in Naruto. I don't see that. It’s not Luffy affecting Bonney. It’s just Bonney’s powers. Bonney’s powers come from belief. So it’s her belief that she can be free. It’s the reason it didn’t really work when she wanted a “Nika-like future” is because Nika isn’t about power or physical strength, it’s about freedom. And in this world and to Bonney, Nika is the embodiment of freedom.
Very well put. I'd be happy with Bonney as either a RA member or an apprentice SH. Honestly, Bonney with the RA would be absolutely insane if you paired her with Belo Betty (Especially since she's got the same position that Ginny used to have). The Cheer Cheer fruit encouraging the user of the Age Age fruit to believe almost any future is possible would be absolutely busted.
I definitely took it as Bonney gaining temporary nika powers, as it was foreshadowed during her flashback(in my opinion). I lowkey think her fruit might pull from different multiverses, ie rn she would be borrowing the powers of the version of her that ate the gomu gomu(like everything everywhere all at once). I know people don't like power-scalling, but examining things through such lens can give us clues on what the author might me planning. Oda might not have planned the whole story from day one, but he's extremely consistent with his development of ideas, which create patterns. One of those patterns is the evolution sequence. Whenever Luffy acquires a new gear featuring new abilities, he always suffers greatly from drawbacks. And those drawbacks usually hint his next evolution as well as the next weakness. That's why whenever he's showing you Luffy struggling hard at something, pay close attention to it. Why am i saying this? Because gear 4's drawback was the lack of haki and "steam", and those are the things gear 5 gave him. Haki oozing from all his pores, and the steam cloack awakened users have. Plus the ability to affect his surroundings. This time around, his drawback is the lack of enough ENERGY. That's why Oda shows him having to eat food non-stop to recover his stamina. That's why most likely, his next power-up is energy related, and considering current day arc, might be related to the Mother Flame. It seems he can still grow a lot stronger than he's now. I don't think it's enough to call it "gear 6", but soon Luffy will have another power-up energy related. Also, now that he can affect his surroundings, if he manages to develop his own energy source within him, he could theoretically extend it to others, just like a logia does.
you make some great points, but that’s not what power scaling is. power scaling is comparing characters against one another and saying who would win, you put there powers on a scale. people are saying oh Bonny has Gear 5th luffy used that to defeat Kaido so Bonny could defeat Kaido now-which i think is dumb

There are multiple factors telling me Oda had this in mind all along. Bonney has the jewel on her cheek in the opposite side where Luffy has the scar. She also wears similar clothing in a way. It's like it was done so that she looked basically identical to Luffy in Nika form

You are likely right as far as what Oda is going for here. But I think there's still a big problem with it. It implies that you can solve any problem just by having this specific mindset that Luffy has. All that amounts to is no different than that new age thinking where if you have the right mindset then suddenly karma will start rewarding you. That's not necessarily true to life. It needs to be combined with hard work to earn your goals in life.

Since more words in the world of OP has a deeper meaning when read viceversa, if you look at NIKA, you get AKIN, which means related (by blood) / essentially similar. Since everyone wants to be free and are related with each other, not just bound by blood (see Kuma / Bonney), we are all AKIN to each other, so can become NIKA and be free.
I have come to this conclusion myself in the past on shrooms that Luffy really is a real person in spirit. I have followed the journey for so long of my life and it he has impacted my life for the better in so many ways. Even my son looks like the spitting image of young Luffy and he brings so much Joy to this world. My son loves Gear 5 Luffy and loves to laugh and connect to his experience more intimately in everything does. I would say One Piece is one of the realest things in my entire life. So yes, Nika is real.

I've recently goten into Terry Gilliam movies , specifically Time Bandits/Brazil/Baron Munchausen , his proclaimed " fantasy trilogy " , they delve into the topics of dreams, adventures and self discovery much like one piece. People complaining that Bonney is a “Marry Sue” bc Luffy got 1000+ chapters of development have to realize that those 1000+ chapters only culminate to a little over 2 years in the story 😂 both Luffy and Bonney have gone through so much it’s just Luffy is the character we’ve been following. A huge part of Bonney’s story is Kuma, a character who’s been with us for about half of those 1000+ chapters so he deserves some kind of payoff as well (alla his daughter being “free” after a life of entrapment). I don't remember if it was Artur or someone else, but I recall someone making the claim that Nika is a fictional character from a comic book, or something to that effect. Watching this video and seeing the term "White Warrior" being thrown around has made that theory much more believable to me. If we are to assume that that comic book in question is a Japanese manga, then calling Nika a White Warrior makes sense, since manga doesn't use colors and is simply black lines on a white page.
I also think it's beautiful that Oda is using a suffering child overcoming her hardships as a catalyst to develop this theme.
Nah I love that Bonney was able to transform. Her dream is coming true in real time and all anyone can do is complain that it somehow trivializes Luffy's power. It's the exact opposite. It's one of the great achievements of Luffy's power. Because his power isn't his fighting ability, it's his ability to inspire and make friends.

I really liked the idea when you said that vegapunk meant to say there is a traitor within the D clan. However, I don't think he was referring to blackbeard but to King Imu who might be Nefatari D Lily. Vegapunk didn't mention King Imu before because maybe he doesn't know about them. But Vegapunk knows that Uranus was used which might require someone from the D clan to operate. Hence, the traitor who uses the weapons to harm and destroy

I’ve been in the "Bonney's going to join the RA” camp for a while. And with these Nika-like powers, I can definitely see it. Because now, Bonney can act as an apostle for Nika the Sun God. At the same time, I’m also considering the “Bonney going to join the SHs” camp more than ever. Her turning into a Nika form feels very apprentice-coded. Especially with the way Luffy supports and recognizes her power like he does with all of his crew mates and friends. It goes into the themes of Luffy’s leadership that have been prevalent since Post-timeskip. Then again, Oda has always been good at the SHs’ power sets not overlapping too much. But I love the sentiment that the daughter of slaves can see herself as completely free. And I've seen many people worried that now they can spread Gear 5 like in Naruto. I don't see that. It’s not Luffy affecting Bonney. It’s just Bonney’s powers. Bonney’s powers come from belief. So it’s her belief that she can be free. It’s the reason it didn’t really work when she wanted a “Nika-like future” is because Nika isn’t about power or physical strength, it’s about freedom. And in this world and to Bonney, Nika is the embodiment of freedom.

Honestly, Bonney with the RA would be absolutely insane if you paired her with Belo Betty (Especially since she's got the same position that Ginny used to have). The Cheer Cheer fruit encouraging the user of the Age Age fruit to believe almost any future is possible would be absolutely busted.

I definitely took it as Bonney gaining temporary nika powers, as it was foreshadowed during her flashback(in my opinion). I lowkey think her fruit might pull from different multiverses, ie rn she would be borrowing the powers of the version of her that ate the gomu gomu(like everything everywhere all at once). If that second sentence has already been disproved, just allow me my head canon 😂
I got thinking about this when she used distorted future to stretch. As I remember, she was thinking of nika then, but just from her limited knowledge. Now that she’s seen it she can be way more accurate with her transformation. But how does that relate to the original properties of her fruit? I think the wording “distorted future” reeeaaalllyyy appealed to me and was what got me thinking multiverse.

I know people don't like power-scalling, but examining things through such lens can give us clues on what the author might me planning. Oda might not have planned the whole story from day one, but he's extremely consistent with his development of ideas, which create patterns.
One of those patterns is the evolution sequence. Whenever Luffy acquires a new gear featuring new abilities, he always suffers greatly from drawbacks. And those drawbacks usually hint his next evolution as well as the next weakness. That's why whenever he's showing you Luffy struggling hard at something, pay close attention to it.
Why am i saying this? Because gear 4's drawback was the lack of haki and "steam", and those are the things gear 5 gave him. Haki oozing from all his pores, and the steam cloack awakened users have. Plus the ability to affect his surroundings.
This time around, his drawback is the lack of enough ENERGY. That's why Oda shows him having to eat food non-stop to recover his stamina. That's why most likely, his next power-up is energy related, and considering current day arc, might be related to the Mother Flame. It seems he can still grow a lot stronger than he's now. I don't think it's enough to call it "gear 6", but soon Luffy will have another power-up energy related.
Also, now that he can affect his surroundings, if he manages to develop his own energy source within him, he could theoretically extend it to others, just like a logia does.
you make some great points, but that’s not what power scaling is. power scaling is comparing characters against one another and saying who would win, you put there powers on a scale. people are saying oh Bonny has Gear 5th luffy used that to defeat Kaido so Bonny could defeat Kaido now-which i think is dumb
@@jestawell This is one aspect of it. To even be able to compare characters, you need to understand how their powers work. That's why i'm saying that power scaling is useful, it helps people to decipher certain patterns.

I love your ending where you say that it inspires you to try to be better and have more belief and hope in your own joy to become free. Quite a few people who are reading this story are so tied up in their own head canon that they are unable to even feel any joy at most points in the story.

There are multiple factors telling me Oda had this in mind all along. Bonney has the jewel on her cheek in the opposite side where Luffy has the scar. She also wears similar clothing in a way. It's like it was done so that she looked basically identical to Luffy in Nika form
We do keep referring to the Iron Giant as a robot but maybe it is a person like Kuma. Like maybe he is just an Iron Giant. There’s Kuma and Franky who are like made of metal after modifying their bodies and Kuma has some parallel with the Iron Giant.

You are likely right as far as what Oda is going for here. But I think there's still a big problem with it. It implies that you can solve any problem just by having this specific mindset that Luffy has. All that amounts to is no different than that new age thinking where if you have the right mindset then suddenly karma will start rewarding you.
That's not necessarily true to life. It needs to be combined with hard work to earn your goals in life.

Since more words in the world of OP has a deeper meaning when read viceversa, if you look at NIKA, you get AKIN, which means related (by blood) / essentially similar. Since everyone wants to be free and are related with each other, not just bound by blood (see Kuma / Bonney), we are all AKIN to each other, so can become NIKA and be free.

I have come to this conclusion myself in the past on shrooms that Luffy really is a real person in spirit. I have followed the journey for so long of my life and it he has impacted my life for the better in so many ways. Even my son looks like the spitting image of young Luffy and he brings so much Joy to this world. My son loves Gear 5 Luffy and loves to laugh and connect to his experience more intimately in everything does. I would say One Piece is one of the realest things in my entire life. So yes, Nika is real.

I've recently goten into Terry Gilliam movies , specifically Time Bandits/Brazil/Baron Munchausen , his proclaimed " fantasy trilogy " , they delve into the topics of dreams, adventures and self discovery much like one piece. Also oda stated Munchausen inspired him alot so I'd recommend all of Gilliams work for fellow fans

Like I cant imagine reading this manga for 1100 chapters and only care about fighting.
