Gemma, I'm flabbergasted. What is going on at ELF? Three different ingredient lists? Who is in charge over there?! Thank you for your diligence in ferrettng out the truth and exposing the ingredient discrepancy and still wear testing the product. It's a hard pass for me for many reasons but you deserve a round of applause for not letting a big corporation off the hook. I look forward to the results of your investigation. On another subject, I'm so happy you enjoyed the holidays and well deserved time spent with family and friends. Love to you all and especially to Super Seth who I imagine is quite the impressive young man. If he's not too old for it, please give him my love and a hug. XXOO ❤️ ❤️
I love the ELF camo blush and the ELF halo blush and contour… The lip stain and lip sticks are awesome. I tried the CC Cream and it really works good for me. I didn’t read the ingredients, but the color and the application and the finish was great with my skin.
I immediately subscribed after you gave an honest review of the first CC product. Everyone else raved about it while I could never make it look good or last so I thought it was just me until finding you. Always appreciate honesty in reviewers ❤
Thank you for the in-depth review! I just wanted to point out that there isn't as much of an issue with the ingredient lists as it would seem. The first ingredient list comes from a web page cached on Gemma's device, meaning that she previously accessed that page and that content is still accessible to her but the page has been replaced since (presumably with the updated ingredients list). You can tell that's the case from the little stopwatch icon next to the link that Gemma is clicking. This page is no longer the active version. The second ingredients list vs the list on the packaging - I don't see a problem there at all. All UV filters from the second list are also listed on the packaging including octocrylene and octisalate (the full name of octisalate is ethylhexyl salicylate). It is simply one list, whereas the website lists the filters separately.
As someone who has allergic reactions to certain ingredients (mostly fragrance, essential oils and preservatives), I need to know and trust that the ingredients list is 100% accurate.
Agree same here, especially for spf. My skins reacts badly to many spf ingredients in normal spf products. So definitely a hard pass for me. I’ll continue my hunt for a good cc cream 😂
You missed the octocrylene that is listed on the back of the package with the black background. The filters are the same for both lists you have on the same screen.
I wonder if the confusion surrounding the ingredient list stems from Elf creating the product for the European market versus the US market where sunscreen filters, for example, are usually different and this might have carried over to changing up some of the other ingredients as well? 🤷♀️
Happy New Year Gemma and welcome back after your well deserved break. The Elf CC is not for me. I don't like a shiny face. We women of a certain age get shiny/glowing faces naturally from the menopause.🥵 I'm with you on this one it must improve the completion. Not happy about the discrepancy either. I just wonder how often this actually happens with other companies, too. We love the content and your no nonsense approach. keep up the good work.❤👏
AMAZING close ups, thank you so much. My favorite are stills, but you move slowly enough. These are the only things I can count on for what products really look like, and I really won't watch any other kinds of reviews on foundations, as texture/pores/dryness wear is super important to me
I'm a mostly drugstore makeup user and even I don't like ELF products. I finally stopped even trying them since the poor results have taught me not to buy. Plus prices are now not that much of a bargain with ELF.
It’s great to hear such an honest opinion! I looked at this once and thought it was way too thick for me and as I don’t like heavy foundation, this new version still won’t be for me. This brand is supposed to be budget but in Australia it is around $30 or more which I don’t consider to be particularly affordable. Thanks for the review.
I love Elf products. Of course not all products will work for everyone. I’m wondering why you couldn’t find a consistent ingredient list? Please continue reviewing Elf as I can’t afford the high end products.
An excellent way to get some high end products are places like Poshmark. Many contact providers/influencers and regular folks sell their untouched or lightly used products. Lots of women don’t return items they don’t care for, then unload it on a resell site. 👍
Very interesting 're the ingredient list. I never read the ingredients for any make-up product which is not a good thing. Cruelty free is my main concern. 're Shine the resolution is simple add a bit of powder, I wonder if it's like the original C C cream where it works best without lots of skincare underneath. My daughter loves this. She use a tiny bit of moisturiser, applies the foundation and then uses NYX HD finishing powder to set the foundation. Fyi the mushroom ingredient I think you mentioned it was missing from another ingredient list, but then said it was in all 3. Xx
What do you suggest for a great CC Cream? I use to use IT CC Cream and am done with them due to the color changes. I no longer can find a color that works for me. I am not a fan of ELF either. Thanks!!!!
Thanks for a great video Gemma and all the info. I wish I'd seen this earlier today as I've just spent £150 on the ELF website, and one of the products I bought was the original version (not dewy) of this CC cream. I hate dewy stuff as it emphasises my 45 year old snakeskin lol. I'm normally a high-end only girl so these purchases are unusual for me. I will definitely be checking each products' packaging against the website for any more discrepancies. My skin tone is very similar to yours (Mont Blanc in Nars) so I fear I may have bought some shades that are too fair also. Not a good day, whoops! Going to watch all your other ELF content now too lol
I also spent about that much and received my package yesterday and everything seems fine. I even messaged elf after this video and they did respond about the ingredients. So if you have questions I’d ask them. The products are good in my opinion and you didn’t waste your money. Everyone skin is different not everything works for everyone 😊 just got to find what works for you
I did use this the other day, I used Elf Poreless putty primer liquid underneath, and powder to set. I also had a negative experience, my whole face looked like it was melting off my face by the end of the day. I will give it another try
That did help me as I try to use as little as possible, I may have to buy this and give it a test drive, I love wearing primers or colour correcting products under my makeups and then adding as little foundation as possible plus my skin is normal/combo with my T zone being the greasy bit. I need a couple of foundations and was looking at this one as one of my choices. We will see 😅, xx 😚 🤗 🥰
@@aiasky3534I found a little bit goes a long way and the coverage is pretty good. I like to use the tiniest bit of powder and a fluffy brush all over to set afterwards. I put primer on my dry bits which helped with smooth application. I have mature skin (31)
Welcome back Gemma and a happy new year🎉 I alr3ady had my eyes on the new elf stuff. I def. will try the Camo blushes. have you already ried those too? I looooove liquid blushes and these look very nice so far. Any opinion???

Happy New Year, Gemma.🎉🎉 Please can you advise me on what foundation I could possibly look at buying/[ trying before I buy] I have normal to dry skin, and I'm looking for a foundation that will not require power to set it. I'm a bit of a skin care fanatic and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, prep my skin very well before makeup application. Thank you in advance. I would like to get an airbrushed finish
I tried it. I didn't do a wear test. I don't remember if I put on the putty primer underneath or not. All I can say is that I didn't care for it that much, because it just felt and looked too heavy and thick for me. Also the darned cap wouldn't get back on LOL, no matter how hard I tried and how many ways I tried to get it back on the tube. I'm in Canada and it was $15 here which is a little expensive for Elf but thankfully it wasn't high end, in which case it probably would have been a gazillion dollars. As for the ingredients issue, it's interesting that on the website at the very bottom it says that ingredients will change or vary from time to time, and you should go by what's on the back of the product so I wonder if they put that on there after they talked to you as a "disclaimer" haha! Also this: I used to sell cosmetics in a direct sales company (which I will never do again) that was in the USA. When their sunscreen finally became available to buy in Canada where I live, their ingredients were different because we have different regulations about that in Canada than in the USA. So I wonder if it's a country to country thing - sometimes in ingredients vary because of regulatory requirements, cultural requirements and/or supply chains (got that off a google search - quora discussion LOL). But I'm not sure if all your research was from the same country or not - if it's the same then I guess this doesn't explain it. And if my suggestion is the case, you would think that Elf would be able to tell you that, so this is very odd. Anyhow, my Camo Hydrating CC cream will be going into the garbage as I didn't like it all - I tried to like it since it was $15 but I couldn't. But I did discover their Halo Liquid Filter. It does give a subtle glow so if you don't like that, just be aware. I love, love, love it though. I have 3 different shades and they're all beautiful. It's much lighter than the CC cream and it goes on like a dream, and blends and looks beautiful. I'm so happy with it! People say it's a dupe for Charlotte Tilbury something-something but I don't know, I've never purchased that brand. I do love most of what I've tried with Elf but the CC cream, IMHO, was a big fail. Sorry for the lengthy post! Congrats if you got to the end of it!
Hi thank you for the video I was about to buy it , all the comments are complimenting it. What foundation do you have in your face in this video ? You look beautiful. Thanks again
Have you seen that trick of putting the foundation into the palm of your hand and really swirling the brush so barely any stays in the hand and then buffing into the skin? Can’t remember the name of who started it - Hughes was the surname, I think. I saw it being done with this new ELF formula and it look stunning (again, no idea whose channel, just came across it). Would be great if you could demo it on your skin, assuming you can first track it down with such scant info - soz!

Hi Gemma….I was so excited with your mom’s results with her ZIIP. PURCHASED mine in December. Received and it was defective. My heart was broken. Have you heard. If they are having a better product with the Ziip Halo now….with improvements with production improvements? I wish to have a ZIIP so much….so am confident Melanie will ensure a 100% product will go back out as a replacement? I know your mom loves, and feels they are very determined to stand 100% behind their product….do you agree?
I'm not sure I understand the question here. I'm so sorry you received a faulty product. I hope they are replacing it for you? My Mum loves her ZIIP and wouldn't be without it. xxx
@@PamperedWolf Gemma, I understand that the company was overwhelmed by the Black Friday sale, and they had to quickly hire more employees to catch up with sales. Unfortunately, quality of the ZIIP suffered, and next the company was stuck with many returns. Penny and Melanie put a video out on Penny’s Facebook explaining the unfortunate situation, and that Melanie guaranteed everyone would be looked after if they received a defective ZIIP. Very upsetting I am sure. Crossing fingers I hear back soon as to when I will receive my replacement. Really appreciate the dedication you put into your research Gemma. It certainly does NOT go unnoticed. Best wishes for another great year from Canada 🇨🇦 xoxo
Interesting - on the Beauty Bay website, there is NO mention of ANY of the sunscreen ingredients at all. I checked with the ELF website and they are listed as "active" - but not included in BB list. Oh and here's another interesting point - on the UK site ELF add a disclaimer that " ingredients may change or vary from time to time". Hmmmm....meanwhile, i have already ordered mine based on earlier reviews so we will see what I think when it arrives!! I think you either love it or hate it - I'm ok with the original cc cream so maybe it will be ok for me
Interesting. I have never known a brand drop the ball so dramatically where ingredients are concerned. It should be simple....but obviously it's not. I hope you like it when you receive yours xxx
Lots of sites have a disclaimer re: ingredients. Specifically 3rd party retailers, as they are protecting themselves, and can't always guarantee the most accurate posting if a supplier changes ingredients in a formula. I've seen this often, specifically on Amazon. It has less to do with Elf and more to do with the place you're buying it from!
@@christina_lauren I’m buying it from Elf. Their own website has 2 different versions of the ingredients which don’t match the outer packaging….which Elf produces and distributes. X
Hey Gemma! I didn't read through all the comments so apologies if this is the same as someone else posted. In the elf website in the US, the ingredients list is the same as #2 in your video. I couldn't find an alternate list searching it through Google and clicking directly TJ the product (again on US site) - it's the same ingredient list. I also checked ultas (us) website and the ingredients list there is the same as #2. Sounds to me someone messed up and put the wrong list on the one product. Why elf could t give you an answer is a lot little perplexing ... Or course they're probably trying to figure out what happened and then come up with some excuse they find to be reasonable enough to then pass on to you. Regardless, its not acceptable. Love your content!!
Hi Gemma, thank you for the through review! This was going to be a hard pass anyways but can you please share the link to the brown sweater you have on? It is lovely:)
The discrepancy with the ingredients list and ELF not being able to answer your questions makes me nervous. I haven’t had a lot of luck with ELF and CC creams (in general), so this will be a hard pass for me. Thanks for your attention to detail and raising the concern for consumers.
Well I'm allergic to any of those ingredient lists, so it's a pass. 😂 I've had the issue a lot where the ingredient list of a product from Ulta or Sephora (on their websites) doesn't match the packaging list of what's sent to me. But 3 different lists from the manufacturer? Confusing.
I think I may have a partial answer. I'm in the US, and many of our UV filters are banned in Europe, as they should be. You have much better UV filters that aren't dangerous. ❤
I doubt that’s the answer, but that was my initial thought as well. We are dealing with 3 separate ingredients lists (all totally different) some don’t have tremella mushroom extract, some do, some have peptides, some don’t. The ingredient discrepancies don’t stop at SPF filters. Xx
honestly when it comes to makeup I pretty much went high end of 2022 I have gone back slighty to drugstore some for ingredient reasons (I cant have ethylhexyl palmitate anywhere near my skin and the NYX matte bronzer is one of slim ep free bronzers) and also I found the brow products I needed NYX could easily provide. ELF has never really impressed me, their halo glow makes any foundation I like slide off / looks like my skin has eaten it, their concealers are all heavy and too much. their foundations are awful. the original was so cakey made me look both crusty and like a deep fat fryer at the same time. I've got samples to get through of the Laura mercier foundation she brought out and I think that really entered my world of high end cause drug store? want to try it before u buy it? can't
Yes I have been trying this formula for about a week. I’m 58, dry skin with poors & texture. Looks like curdled milk on my skin. Lots of Mica yet makes me look even dryer especially with powder. Honestly I don’t like the Halo Glow either. Too much Mica. But I did like the new blush in the lightest color. Very pretty blush. Thank you Gemma for all this info! ❤
I've noticed lately on many products and websites from many companies a general warning about the variability of ingredients in makeup AND skincare products. Like a blanket disclaimer. Not good for anyone with rosacea or any other chronic condition. Buyers beware!
The Elf CC looks heavy, greasy and horrible. I'm not surprised by this or the discrepancy in the ingredients. I've tried about 15 Elf products over the last 3 years and almost all of them were poor quality; a few were borderline at best. Honestly, I think they are a crappy brand. I'd love to see you try out powder foundations - both drugstore and high-end. I think they would look great on you. PS: I still have an unopened tube of Nyx Bare with Me tinted skin veil.
Hi beautiful community, i will like so so much that ELF will do a putty foundation like the putty bronzer.. i let my suggestions but maybe if they have many like on this post elf will react 😂. I love elf products that is a dupe of SEINT makeup for less price. I am a cream compact foundation girl because no water in it and less dry.. thanks
I just read under the ingredients on the website a disclaimer- ingredients may vary or change from time to time- check on the box to find out what the ingredients are in your product. So I guess we never know until we buy it. 😂 absolutely bonkers. And if you live in Australia, do NOT pay $30 for this. Or anything from elf. Wayyyyy too expensive
Gemma, the next time you contact ELF, please ask why their shades run soooo warm. Even those considered cool and neutral. The lightest shade makes me look like a oompa loompa. We are not aiming for the Trump look. I will stick to my k beauty bb creams.
Wow that is pretty poor. It shouldn't matter how you ask the question; there should be one answer. I like many ELF products, but they need to sort that out.
I’ve know about E.LF. since their beginnings (the $1 days). I don’t know what’s happened there in the past few years but they have become nothing more than a dupe company (a la Makeup Revolution in the old days) and pumping out release after release a la Colourpop but without the high quality and discontinuing so many of their legacy (and fabulous) products. E.L.F. has become a hard pass for me.
ELF is a hard pass for me. I've never found any of their products perform well (I am more used to higher end). VERY odd that ELF 'can't' answer your questions. That immediately makes me very suspicious
Oof, no way! 🙅♀️ Will not be buying this! Everything I hate with foundation. I have a wee recommendation for you Gem and the rest of the pack. I bought the new Maybelline lifter gloss with Chilli for plumping. It was absolutely horrendous!! My whole mouth and throat (particularly my tongue) was on fire!!! I expected tingly lips (they were in agony), but my whole face felt like I’d just drank a cup of Vindaloo sauce! 😂😂😂😂
That stuff is nasty feels like you are putting glue on your face and it dries your skin horribly. I bought the older formula and now it is the same drying and feels like glue!! Nasty 🤮
Appalling customer service. The fact that no one has reached out to you is remarkable. Too bad..what a fail as a launch. I guess they have enough sales from the uneducated that they don’t need to bother with you! Hoping they can redeem themselves soon! 🤷♀️😬

I do sometimes use that technique especially when the foundation is very loose in consistency, but I haven't tried it with this one. xxx
Yes that is how I put my foundation on and I really like the new ELF foundation
I thought you had left I don't use Elf and I am confused on this video 3 different ingredient lists😮 welcome back happy new year.
No my problem is my eyebrows I don't use much make up foundation No7 bb cream lift & lumunate not often only when going out out not the shops most of my stuff is NO7 night cream, day cream renews damage reversal & eye serum. Being that time of life I am noticing my eyebrows disappearing what is the best eyebrow pencil to get for a beginner you did a video once. Thank you
havent tried that foundation yet =like some of elf products but find they are getting more costly too
Hi Gemma….I was so excited with your mom’s results with her ZIIP.
@@JL-ft4it gosh I didn’t know any of that at all. Thank you for letting me know. X
That still doesn’t explain the 3rd ingredient list xxx
The only ELF products I use is the cleaning balm and Holy Hydration moisturizer at night.
I use many products. I love the sunscreen
Hi Gemma, thank you for the through review! This was going to be a hard pass anyways but can you please share the link to the brown sweater you have on? It is lovely:)
It's from Zara and is quite old now unfortunately. I think I bought it in 2022 xxx
Confusing.
I love ELF products but Ive never had any luck with their foundation.
Me either Michelle. xxx
A me personalmente fa una pelle bellissima e la 205n non ha ossidato su di me! Boh
Xx
@PamperedWolf I tried. So strange about all of the discrepancies. I'm not interested in buying it. They let the ball drop on that one.
Good warning. ⚠️ Not even thinking of trying. 😅
How ridiculous 😅I can’t try it if it has octocryline as it stings my eyes 🙄
Wow lucky we have you I’ve not tried it but I will definitely not be buying it
See you soon ❤
Pass!
I love E.L.F. and I won’t buy other brands of beauty products
honestly when it comes to makeup I pretty much went high end of 2022 I have gone back slighty to drugstore some for ingredient reasons (I cant have ethylhexyl palmitate anywhere near my skin and the NYX matte bronzer is one of slim ep free bronzers) and also I found the brow products I needed NYX could easily provide. ELF has never really impressed me, their halo glow makes any foundation I like slide off / looks like my skin has eaten it, their concealers are all heavy and too much. their foundations are awful. the original was so cakey made me look both crusty and like a deep fat fryer at the same time. I've got samples to get through of the Laura mercier foundation she brought out and I think that really entered my world of high end cause drug store? want to try it before u buy it? can't
I use drug store foundations almost solely. I've tried so many high-end, expensive, brands, that upset me. Yes, I expect more with the higher tag
This isn’t just a few minor changes though, this is a totally different product! 😳
I am a cream compact foundation girl because no water in it and less dry.. thanks
Looks like I won't be giving this one a try.
You should contact them yourself. Better that they hear from multiple people. :)
Please contact their customer services who will hopefully be able to answer your question xxx
So, I’ve NEVER had success with any CC cream… any brand. Until this one! I love it!!! 😂
I’m so glad Lisa! What is it you like about that no other cc cream has provided? I’m so curious xxx
The ingredients lists 😂
Hi Gemma,i do not think this one is for me.Thank you for the video.
I’ve lived so many new releases from elf in the past couple of years but this was a disappointment x
Still no word from elf??? I’m not surprised. They worry more about marketing than their foundation. Not a fan of these either. Ugh. lol this is nuts
Seed oils are a complete no no in my diet so I’ll pass on them in make up.
ELF is a hard pass for me. I've never found any of their products perform well (I am more used to higher end). VERY odd that ELF 'can't' answer your questions. That immediately makes me very suspicious
I use both. I had lots of high end fail. Which really sucks when I'm paying those prices
@@AprilSilvers-py4zj NOTHING worse than a high end fail when you've invested
So, we actually cannot trust the lists at all…
Come on ELF! You can and do so much better!
I haven't tried this yet. I seen good reviews and iffy reviews.
My head is spinning lol 🤣🧐
Elf is turning into the mew Morphe .
👍
Oof, no way! 🙅♀️ Will not be buying this! Everything I hate with foundation. I have a wee recommendation for you Gem and the rest of the pack. I bought the new Maybelline lifter gloss with Chilli for plumping. It was absolutely horrendous!! My whole mouth and throat (particularly my tongue) was on fire!!! I expected tingly lips (they were in agony), but my whole face felt like I’d just drank a cup of Vindaloo sauce! 😂😂😂😂
Thank you soooo much for that tip! Ouch! 😁
Thank you for the warning Claredy xxx

That stuff is nasty feels like you are putting glue on your face and it dries your skin horribly. I bought the older formula and now it is the same drying and feels like glue!! Nasty 🤮
I read them and I don’t trust them either
That is crazy! 3 different ingredient lists.
Oh who gives a damn
How ridiculous! It's not that hard unless you're trying to hide something....
Appalling customer service. The fact that no one has reached out to you is remarkable.
Too bad..what a fail as a launch. I guess they have enough sales from the uneducated that they don’t need to bother with you!
Hoping they can redeem themselves soon!
🤷♀️😬
We have had a few emails exchanged, I'm just waiting for one that answers my questions x
Sorry, but it looks awful 😮
No need to be sorry
