Shit just got real! Hondo looks like a dream. No crowds, no rangers, no pavement. Gonna need that guide book son. Can't wait for the next installment. My well wishes to Sir Earle, keep positive and keep searching, the medicine is out there somewhere.
Pretty cool! Amazing technique! I've been a climber for more than 10 years and just recently started crack climbing, last two years or so... and let me reiterate that I so much identify with failing miserably, miserably on cracks!!! And then there's this sort of people, oh nice let me do this rawhanded onsight roof on this virgin rock.
exactly! Got another vid coming soon where Mason casually fa's another horrendous boulder problem that myself and all the strongest dudes I know got absolutely spanked. Different levels to this shit.
really wish every videographer/director of climbing vids were as personable and as good of a story teller as you. It can sometimes be hard to even tell that a v13 is difficult simply with how little context is out into perspective about the route. Tired of watching people climb to like some super generic serene ambient music with slow zooms and shit to be artsy or whatever. Climbing is fun so watching it should be too.
Well Mason does mention in the video that a "real" boulderer might campus the crux, but then they would get owned at the lip. No unwritten rule to climb it with feet.
This is what climbing has degraded to? A 12' crack isn't climbing. Total BS. Most of this "climb" is 1-2 ft off the deck. :D) Bouldering isn't climbing, yo

We’ve never met but I hope you recover soon Mason 🙏
He has started recovery after having surgery on his cervical spine. 👍
So rad seeing some footage of Mason (and a sweet crack). Get better soon!
Impressive. Knowing the rasp like nature of J•Tree quartz monzonite & how unforgiving it is, that was a masterclass on hand jam technique
True that!
I hope you’re feeling better Mason. We are all pulling for you in MA!!
Definitely held my breath while he was finishing. He’s a real badass.
Same here! Spicy to watch but for Mason just another day lol.
GO MASON! YOU ARE A HERO!
We all wish to see you back on rock Mason. Get well!!!

Mason is my fave. He just is likable. Looks like he's feeling better after his diagnosis. I hope so, he is a really great ambassador for climbing.
He is a great dude for sure!

Uh bro where in the Mojave is Hondo?
this is dope, but dude cheer him on
Looks like you could just campus it. Or is it a unwritten rule to climb it with feet ?

When youtube recommandations work.....Too bad this confinement wasted 2 months of JTree season....
"Surrounded by 5 guys he doesn't know with cameras everywhere" nobody? Okay
LOL
