  • Scientists from the UK say they've worked out what the world's best and worst smells really are. It comes from a study done at the University of Oxford. And Coming in first place is vanilla. Sure it's not the most exciting scent I can think of, but apparently it is universally liked. Scientists asked 235 people from around the world to rank 10 scents from pleasant to unpleasant. They found sweet smells were the most pleasant to most people, which is why vanilla took the crown. It was closely followed by a chemical that smells like pineapples or peaches. While flowery scents came in third. As for the most unpleasant sweaty feet or rather isovaleric acid, which is also something you'll find in cheese, soy milk, and apple juice. The study's not just important for ranking smells, scientists also found that people around the world all tend to like and dislike similar scents regardless of their lifestyle and their cultural background which means we can all agree that sweaty feet, no doubt, deserved last place.
