I'm 49, and it was SO much easier to date in the 90s/2000s. Especially when it came to everyone getting their looks match. At parties, people would automatically couple up with their looks equivalent on a regular basis. Not saying everyone was hooking up ALL the time, but it was a pretty regular occurrence. The ONLY way to meet someone back then was to talk to them. It was fairly common for women to approach guys due to the fact that if they didnt, they probably would never see them again. There was a certain urgency for girls to meet the guys they liked also because there was no social media to fall back on. They actually HAD to get up, dress up, and go out in order to receive attention and validation.

@Tony Snow I have a female friend that's 41. She over 300lbs. I would give her probably a 3 in looks. She was using dating apps and hooking up with a new guy like every other week. Guys that were way out of her league. This went on for about 2 years. But in that time, she hasn't had one single boyfriend. I think she's finally realizing that she will never be able to date any of those men that she slept with. She tries to play like she doesn't care, but you'll have to take my for for it that she's absolutely miserable because of it. Before the dating apps, she always dated men on her level. Many women are quite aware they are sharing a Chad. They are ok with it. Some even find the Chad more attractive if he is dating multiple women. A lot of these women will say they are in an open relationship, so not single, but will continue to sleep around with other Chads. And they sleep with other women as well, which is becoming very common.
This has gone from a niche situation to an extremely common one. Many of my dates in the past few months have mentioned being in an open relationship in the past. The number of women that describe themselves as bisexual or in an open relationship on dating apps has skyrocketed. It all supports the statistics of how there are so many more single men than women.

You are correct, and it definitely only applies to the under 40s age range too. Every now and then I will encounter a random 40+ year old woman and be completely stunned by how warm and friendly they act towards me. Now there also are way more women of the age 18-29 that date men outside their age (for example men in their 30s) compared to men in their 20s dating women in their 30s or under age girls...
Now, to account for that you have to substract at least 10 women from the pool of 100 women leaving you with:
90 females to 107 males.
Now, if 50 females are in a relationship with 50 males of similar age that leaves you with the following marketplace for singles:
40 female singles
57 male singles
That is not a Ratio of 1:1
That is a Ratio of 1:1.4

My brothers and acquaintances have always had little to no luck. All in good shape, average to above average looks, no awkward/geeky personalities, and zero women. None of us make over 50k. You missed a critical piece of the puzzle. You assume that the only way Chad's can date more than one woman at a time is by keeping the other women a secret. That's incorrect.

As a below average 5 ft 8 man, I'm learning more and more that women are not worth chasing today. Yes, that's me in the photo. I'm not great looking and I admit it. I wish that prostitution was legal and decriminalized world wide so that more men can experience the physical side of sex even if they can't experience the emotional part. If anything I want to become a therapist to help men especially deal with reality and how to get them to be the best versions of themselves while keeping their happiness as critical. I will never be a high value man unless I had a very well paying job and be successful in a very active therapy practice where I make 100k+ a year. It doesn't have to be therapy, if I made 100k+ in another field that would work. That's hard to achieve and requires a lot of work to even have a chance.
I'm going to level and say that women compared to men have it very easy in dating. Just be thin and pretty and that will open the doors. Even older women like between 30-45 can still date men if they take care of their bodies and looks. Genetics are part of it but if they keep their looks maintained including weight they can really extend their dating. Men must be successful, tall and attractive (usually good looking) and that will be the minimums. However, to get the high paying job is a lot harder for men to achieve than women who mostly just maintain their attractiveness by keeping thin and pretty. It's more upkeep for women but men who get high paid jobs really require more of them than it takes women to keep thin and pretty. There's no sociopathic boss to deal with, there's no difficult exams, there's no networking with jerks, etc for women in this one context.
So as a man of 35 and below average looks I say find your happiness somewhere else if dating does not come easy to you. Succeed only for yourself, and if you live in the west do not get married. If nothing else, we as men should do the minimum that we need to live our lives comfortably and leave the rest behind. Because in terms of dating, today's market just isn't worth it and often many men don't have a chance anyway.
It's a shame because a lot of guys will be great husbands and fathers if they had the right guidance and right circumstances but hey if women want to chase the top level guys fine let them do it but I think men should close the door behind them when they decide to run for the best. I think your right about men at the top hoarding women, but I don’t think it’s all purely looks. A lot of it is the “bad boy” hit and run lifestyle these guys can provide and I don’t think those guys necessarily have to be too attractive. i think by now that 1% of men hold all of the women: i am 30 years old, very good in shape, going frequently to the gym, 6 ft. 1, work as doctor and have a very good salary, several hobbies, nice social life. my friends and siblings would rate me a 6 to 7 by looks, if a dress well i can look like a 7.5 or 8 maybe. so i would consider myself to be in the top 30 to maybe 40% of men. unfortunately thats not enough: at my workplace there are no women who try to flirt with me, if i cold approach mostly i get nice declines (sorry i have a boyfriend), and with tinder bumble and so on i get a few matches per day (mostly really obese women with tattoos). it´s really a zero sum game. i am convinced by now you really need to be a chad and look at least like a 9 or 10 to have somewhat of a chance.
