How to find the UDID for an iOS device

You might need the UDID for an iOS device if you need to install software via adhoc distribution. The UDID is a secret number that identifies your hardware. It is used by Apple to authorize an app to be installed on your device without going through the App Store. You probably will not need this info unless an Apple Developer has requested it, so they can authorize your device to work with their software.

Apple requires that all developers know the udid of any device they want to push software to up to 100 devices per year. Every client that I get who wants to test their software on their device, has to send me their udid.
unfortunately, Apple removed the ability to find your udid except through things like this about 2 years ago. If Apple had not removed that feature, none of this would be necessary
