I decided to take the tree out. As much as I love it, it is just a little too invasive for my yard. I captured one and put it in a pot. It is doing ok, but the growth rate is much slower in a pot.

That might work. I'm sure it would grow back if you did but you would have to be selective with your cuts. Another option might be trying it in a container if you don't want a large tree.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 not a fan of container gardening specifically fruit trees... I saw in ind they grow these and cur to almost ground in winter and than only keep 4...6 shoots when it wakes up from dormancy out of many
Mainly because I don't prune much in the summer. I also prefer this tree growing straight up. I don't want it to bush out much. Most of my other trees I keep shorter.
I know these are supposed to be self fertile, but another video remarked that the production is better with a second tree for fertilization. What do you think?
I think it would be better with a 2nd tree but you probably won't need it. I get plenty of fruit. I would start with one and if you feel like you need it you can easily add a 2nd.

I hope it does better for you this year. These are so good. Maybe the Suger Cane will do better for you too.
Try a little fertilizer on it. Mine made a huge change when I did.

Could you trim all the growth up to the 5ft so that the spikes are not child height?
You probably could you would have to prune it a few times over the summer and the tree would have a tendancy to be taller and fruit higher.

Yeah It should work out and the mulberries are very tasty. I've seen similar strategies with Moringa trees.
