Not everyone will want to go back home because some just thrive better in other environments, or what some may have called home might hold traumas for them, such as being victims of violence. I can understand and empathize with those situations. I was speaking from the perspective where as soon as someone who plans to go home expresses that desire, there is always someone to spew nothing but negative connotations as if Jamaica is the worst place on earth, yet they are always the first ones in friends’ and family’s DMs begging for Downtown and Parade with no intentions of reimbursement when di suitcase overweight. The same ones who rather sleep pon a friend’s ratty sofa than admit seh they were living a better life in Ja than they are abroad just fi seh dem deh a farin. Persons go to other countries to make a living for themselves because of the opportunities that may not be back home but the sentiments may change the older you get, even if ah fi just get di citizenship fi visit every 6+ months. Why? Cuz farin stressful. And some will weigh the pros and cons and decide for themselves that it is better to retire in their place of birth. As a person in nursing in the US, yes, the healthcare system is better compared to that of Jamaica, but it’s still rubbish and will continue to get even worse over the coming years. As for the violence, the nature of the violence in Jamaica is what makes it seems worse than it really is. And it is about to pale in comparison to the violence that is about to happen in these developed countries over the coming years - of epic and nuclear proportions. They are the greatest committers of the most violent atrocities and all of that will be coming home to roost. Why suffer in another country for things you or your ancestors had no part in?? You will be scrambling to go back home - it’s either by choice or by force. So, consider making those preparations.
