    The tech just keeps getter better and better. If I was still in my younger creative years, I'd jump on this in a heartbeat, but at 78 and already having a very good system that I understand and know how to use, If it "ain't" broke I probably won't fix it, but this looks like a winner! I'm not sure the young folks today really know what they have to work with. But then, I go back to when we used a pen and paper lol!

    Thanks for this review! It's very thorough. Not sure if they have updated this since your review but in the My Quick Keys settings section the five modes at the bottom can be used for just one application. So in essence you'd have 40 shortcuts per application. The big plus symbol up at the top of this section adds a program. Right now you are using the other/general application mode. If you added a program like Photoshop then you could program up to 40 shortcuts for just Photoshop. If you were to add Illustrator you'd get another 40 and so on. The lone button at the bottom switches between the sets of keys per application. I bought the bundle and it is amazing. I can't believe how many options for shortcuts there are. It's ridiculous. 3 buttons on the tablet itself. It comes with two pens, one skinny and one standard. The skinny pen has two buttons and an eraser on the end. The standard has 3 buttons and a built in eraser on the end so if you flip the pen around you are automatically erasing. This can also be programmed to whatever you want. This bundle is really well done. You can tell they really had artists in mind when designing it.

      Hey brother I need some assistance…I just installed the drivers for my Quick Keys (MacOS) and I’m having trouble with the configuration…the included app presets don’t work properly and the SET button just switches between the five “OTHER” default groups, not the ones created for the app presets.
      Same with the dial button, pressing it will switch to the “OTHER” default dial configurations, not the app presets.
      I’ve been fiddling with this thing for hours, no proper user manual or troubleshooting guide to be found…online information about this remote is pretty sparse. Gadget looks/feels great but frustration is making me consider a return/refund from Amazon.
      Hope you can help!

    The display that shows the name of the shortcut key is brilliant. I've used remotes in the past and you're constantly thinking "OK, this is Photoshop so KEY1 is zoom in... wait, no wait, KEY1 is brushes" and they become very frustrating.

    Really hope there's something between Wacom remote and this. The biggest downside of Wacom remote to me is that the touch ring doesn't have haptic feedback and you can never know if you make enough turn or not. And there's no way on Wacom to change button set without using the setting utility. Though I'd say having 17 buttons is definitely a big plus, especially for animators (unless they already have another transport controller to use alongside). For illustrators I guess 8 is kinda enough? (Shift, ctrl, alt, space, free reform, save, screen keyboard and there's one spare button, maybe for duplicate layer if you are a vector artist.)

    Not gonna lie, when I first found out about Xencelabs (through Brad Colbow's video) I thought they were yet another Wacom alternative. And not the kind like XP-Pen or Huion, but the more "eh" ones like Veikk or Bosto. I didn't know that they weren't trying to be a Wacom alternative but rather a Wacom competitor. I hope they release their own pen displays soon.

      @@teohyc Their marketing is about being "Ex-Wacom employees" (or so I keep reading) and thus being close to a true competitor rather than a knock off.
      But then you go and try to check them out and you can't find much on the internet (You can find however that they belong to the Chinese company Hanvon Ugee (so much for their "we are a global company!") which is also, the owner of XP-Pen, IMO they're just trying to rebrand to get a better position), their own page doesn't say much, and their "Meet our team" page only has marketing and administrative employees and not a single engineer or tech guy to show off so... At least for me they sound shady and I consider them another yet another knock off, just one more aggressive, the most considering their "issue" where you needed to uninstall Wacom's drivers for theirs to work properly...
      Whether they manage to make a more premium-feeling product or not, that's for you pro artists and tech reviewers to decide but, whether in the end they're just another knock off or not IMO will eventually depend on whether they manage to innovate or just conveniently match Wacom's R&D. Until then, unless the difference is big or step down their pricing more, I'd rather go with a cheaper one as I have now or a proper Wacom if I ever invest that much. At least having a big community still means better chance to find a fix for any issue which is a big pro in my book, plus being (until proven otherwise IMO) the actual company doing the heavy lifting in R&D means that's the best investment in the long run, can't justify a similar price for the Xencelabs if their investment in R&D out of that price ends up probably being negligible in comparison... Better the devil you know than the devil you don't, specially true since as I've said it is hard to find information about them other than being XP-Pen's shady and expensive sibling.

    • @gerardopadilla2666
      @gerardopadilla2666 3 года назад

      @UChnHyDgcXn2svxoAMAzRwtQ Yeah I guess, I have no problem with the product itself other than the price (as I said if there's a fair chance they're just ripping their tech from Wacom it doesn't justify paying them similarly if they end up having a huge margin due to low R&D, it should be more middle-ground and not toe to toe to be fair, plus it doesn't really make Wacom any more worried since they still have the prestige and higher user base in a toe to toe competition so the impact of such "competition" for us is arguably small, IMO at least), I'm just annoyed at the company itself given their lack of information and how you end up finding up they're just another instance of Ugee if you dig a little, it just screams shady, but to give them the benefit of doubt as I said it'll depend on how they go from here in the future, if they bring new things to the table or if they're just going to put a shinier case on Wacom's products (which could always use a nicer design but I doubt Xencelabs will push them that much harder than said decent cheap options already do).

    I just got my quick keys unit today and mainly got it for Lightroom editing. I want to be able to sit back and click a button for Exposure and then adjust with the dial, then contrast...My problem is I can't find a way to accurately set the control (say exposure) with focus so that I can use the wheel. I've been using a Behringer Midi controller til now, and it interacts directly with the controls. Its not as quite an elegant solution but so far it works better than the quick keys. Anyone have any suggestions?

    • @duvalkMAS
      @duvalkMAS 2 года назад

      Do you know what the shortcut keys are for Exposure? It might be possible to program Dial Click Sequence mode to Exposure and then program the two directions of the dial (clockwise and counterclockwise) to adjust the exposure settings. So the default first setting is zoom and when you select the zoom setting it takes you to customization. So you can choose any keystroke for the main setting. For instance Zoom is the default setting and the two dial directions are set to zoom in (ctrl +) and zoom out (ctrl -). I don't use Lightroom so I don't know what the shortcuts are for Exposure but as long as there is a shortcut you can program it. Another example is Brush (B) then Enlarge ( ] ) and Reduce ( [ ). Hope that make sense.

    Only 8 shortcut keys for each app. And only for 5 apps. Not useful or practical at all. Why even create such a remote?

      it can do 40 keys per app. 5 sets of 8 for each app.
