I remember driving that rahui when I was your age before it was a rahui and the transformation is amazing, there used to be shit all there, when you find those big Kaikoura bugs keep it to yourself aye.

Awesome video man, spent a lot of time in kiakoura before moving to aus, nothing like it.
Great job! Thanks for sharing.
So I did my first dive at kaikoura 3 days ago. I didn't see one cray. Also hardly any fish. I was a bit disappointed tbh. I'll be back again in a few days time. I'll try a bit further south. Really hoping I get to see a cray.
Awesome video! Looking forward to more!
Stay safe my friend, God bless you!

Choice video bro..
Awesome bro
👍
Yes kaikora is famous for crayfish
I thought Kaikoura was closed till December??
That is the Paua fisheries you are referring to.
Love your videos 👍 we are looking at doing a dive down there havnt been for dive there before could you suggest what’s a good tide and winds you want to have to make the trip worth it
Low tide is best and avoid southerlies because it makes the sea dirty.
@@youngbucknz ok thanks for that mate keep putting up them awesome dive videos 👍
I'm planning a trip up that way in Jan/feb period. I've never caught a crayfish before. I'm really excited to try though! Great video!
Uh we're is that spot
I honestly didn’t know Kaikoura was famous for cray fish! Cheers for the awesome informative video mate
Good catch and cook! How is the roads work going? Last time, took me about 5 hours to drive from Picton to CHCH. Hope to come next year before winter.
The roads pretty much sorted, thanks for commenting👍
Can get from picton to chch in under 4 hours now👆🏽
snorkeling? did you scuba diving there?
We are just freedivers, and find we can get all we need. 👍
Hello
Hey bro where's the cray spots in kaikoura going there on weeekend
You can find crayfish anywhere along the coastline, we don't have any favourites. If there are rocks there's crayfish, they can also be very shallow.
Good day what is the water temperature and what thickness is your wet suite ??
The water temperature is around 14 I have a 5mm wetsuit.👍
Is it all good to snorkel the reserve bro cheers
Yep awesome place to snorkel, you can look but you can't touch.
How deep the sea to find a crayfish
Can be very shallow (waist deep) we tend to find them freediving (10-3m)
Congratulation, Dad and Son sharing. I was about 12 when I spoted a 8 Kgm lobster with my Dad, bigest ever
Omg it's so yummy
Were use just in the seal colony ?? Never dived over there
Our first dive was on the way to the seal colony and our second dive was down the coastline from Kaikoura.
@@youngbucknz cool
Hey man is it better further south than south beach?
@@henrybrooks321 Both are awesome.
Buddy, your crayfish look like spiny lobsters! They are nothing like crayfish I've seen from other parts of the world. Is that freshwater or saltwater? To me, any marine variety is a lobster and any freshwater variety is a crayfish (aka crawfish).
Yeah, they are massive saltwater crayfish. The big ones you can only find in marine reserves or in Fiordland NZ.
@@youngbucknz That is an interesting regional difference. I'm in the US, and here, as far as I'm aware, a crayfish is only understood to be freshwater relatives of the lobster. I know that Australia calls them yabbies, incidentally, but I suppose that isn't the case in New Zealand.
do you boys live in kiakoura?
We’re based in Nelson but visit Kaikoura lots.
Where about you base in NZ
Top of the South Island👍
@@youngbucknz hello. I am a new bee..where is the perfect spot for free diving crayfish for new bee? Is there any group offering diving assistance or guidance in kaikoura? Thanks much. Happy new year
@@senenbe44 There are no secret spots, we try out new areas all the time and find crays everywhere. If you need some assistance I would recommend Hunting and Fishing Kaikoura, they are very friendly and offer helpful local information.
I'm really surprised that a kiwi would go this far to get food.
As an Aussie, I have kiwi's everywhere at work and they are lazy, infact, the laziest people i have EVER seen.
Good video though mate.
Yeah the palangi ones IL out work you anyday
C'mon mate that's why we take your jobs over there Ozzie's r fukn terrible
Oh heck don't be a hater Bro not anyone's fault ya Mrs left you for the Kiwi Bloke lmao!
And to kiwis, we think the same of yous... Useless workers over there yah slackers. Half Pai Aussie mungros 🤭
