Before I set foot in Santana I didn't realise how small it was! I did try to make the most of it & randomly came across Rocha do Navio nearby, which I found a more exciting location, what with the hike down & back marvelling at being surrounded by 3 impressive waterfalls & being stalked by a crazy duck too!
The cable car had been out of action a few days before as it fell to the ground I heard, but I think it's still out of action a year & 8 months later, unless I stand corrected.
I visited the gift shop by the pharmacy in Santana & found it had virtually everything you needed & more!
I'm hoping to be back for the Flower Festival in May, but Ryanair haven't released their April flight schedule from Dublin as of yet.

I know what you mean - you can walk around it in a few minutes. Yes, I remember your walk to Rocha do Navio from last year. It's another place you've found to add to our list of places to see. We're not sure of our dates in Madeira next year, but I hope we get together. We'll let you know when we have a better idea. No joy on the Pocket 3 just yet - I see its back on Amazon now, but we'll be away travelling before it gets delivered. I guess we'll just have to wait :)
