I like that he gave McCartney credit for getting things done.
Ringo looks and sounds incredible for 78. Good on ya, mate!
You're right, he looks ten years younger than Stern not 14 years older.
Ikr!!! Hard to believe that he was the oldest
BlueEyes 1970 ABSOLUTELY!
He sounds ok, but he has aged now, he sounds older than I am used to.
"How do you know it's a Ringo song?"
"If I do it, it's a Ringo song."
Beautiful.
Very insightful.
I still can't believe Ringo is almost 80 years old. He looks like he's in his 40's....
Well im 47 and i wouldnt say 40´s but more like late 50´s or into 60´s, he looks great though and if he hasnt colored his beard its much less gray than mine. There is of course alot of variation, some people my age or younger even have completely white hair and some guys are completely bald in their 20´s.
@@Stefan- since when going bald is related to age? Ever heard anything about testosterone?
Stefan Sjöberg. Steve Martin was 30 when he was in The Jerk and his hair was almost gray at that young of age. But Ringo looks fantastic at his age. Still a sharp thinker. And yes can pass for mid 60s easily in this interview
Ringo was also a sickly child.
Not really. He looks like he's in his 70s.
Ringo lookin like he finna start a rap career out here
finna?
@@VanielDeeform it’s slang for gonna.. which is slang for going to.
@@VanielDeeform That's southern talk. Finna - fixin to - getting ready to.
@@HardCold-Alquan not really it's AAVE which just happens to be more common in the south
Ringo has always been so dang likable.
........Ringo and Paul so humble....
That is the plain, simple, truth!
Ringo talks like he drums. He's very direct and to the point. I love that about him. He might be my favorite Beatle.
oh he's definitely my fav
*generic comment about Ringo looking good for his age*
Man, I don’t care what anyone says. Being a Beatle would have been the coolest job in the world.
Living legend. When he replaced Pete Best in The Beatles, Paul and John said Pete is a drummer, Ringo is a BEATLE.
The Beatles weren’t trying to compete with any other band, they were competing with each other
"Life is good" His upbeat attitude has to be at least partly why he's aged so gracefully.
“We were The Beatles, they were The Rolling Stones” enough said Sir Ringo
I love how cool he looks. Also who gets to say "We were The Beatles"! Love it!
Immediately starts dancing 😂 , Ringo always the coolest Beatle.
Yup...He got down in A HARD DAYS NIGHT dancing!
It blew me away!
My impression is that John had the big vision early on, and Paul kept it going.
No blisters on his fingers!!!
When Paul was writing Yellow Submarine he mentioned to Donovan that he was “working on a song for Richie”
Always a pleasure to see Ringo
Ringo looks like he's the MTV generation teen who exchanged places with his dad in a bad 1980s body swap comedy.
Correction, a good 1980s body swap comedy.
during one of the rare times 'Let it be' was on YT, people were commenting that Ringo & Paul sounded the most polished & rehearsed of the 4. Ringo knows what time it is.
I love how Ringo completely ignored Howards question and praised Paul
Him and Paul are so chill
People slag Paul off... but Paul was the main man.
John kept up for a while but never had the work ethic.
...Lennon is quoted as once saying: "This fucker doesn't stop....I'd better go and write something.."
I fucking LOVE Ringo...that dude has always been the epitome of chill and approachability...love that guy!!
Dresses like he's 21. Looks good on him.
OMG RINGO STAR. GOD BLESS YOU SIR AND THE REST OF THE BEATLES. THE GREATEST BAND IN THE UNIVERSE.
Ringo's songs were very distinct and have really stood the test of time.
maybe 2 or 3 of them...
The Beatles and The Stones weren't rivals because the Beatles were constantly way ahead of the Stones musically.
50.years later they STILL are light years better than the Stones....
Beatles accomplished more in 8 years ( 1962-1970) than the Stones ever did in nearly 60
The stones were fundamentally different and they were second
The Stones were a one trick pony compared to the Beatles. Yes the Stones were versatile .....but not compared to the Beatles. But the Stones were much better at pure Rythmn/Blues than the Beatles. Just listen to Exile on Main Street........
The Beatles were a pop band, especially McCartney songs. The Stones are a rock band.
And George was the most talented of the group.
@@kihntagious Led Zeppelin sold the second most albums after The Beatles, The Rolling Stones didn't.
The planets really aligned with the dynamics these guys oozed. And even if Ringo was "just" the drummer, he was "the" drummer for the Beatles.
0:39 that, THAT LITTLE DANCE RIGHT THERE GAVE ME LIKE 100 MORE YEARS OF LIFE
U notice how he always mentions john? i think he misses him alot still ..imagine john today ....rip
I think it’s funny how shocked people are about Ringo’s youthful appearance. He’s a vegan, he’s been sober for decades, and he works out two hours per day. Plus, musicians naturally get a very physical, creative, psychological, and spiritual release from all the pain and suffering we experience as humans. People who don’t create generally keep a lot of baggage and toxic bs in their systems, and that causes all sorts of health problems. Just by playing the drums, you feel immensely better about life after just one hour of rocking. So....Buy a guitar, or a drum kit, or start painting. It’ll keep you young at heart.
I've noticed musicians seem to have a healthy vibe or appearance as they age as well
He is vegetarian not vegan
There seems to be a mixture of truth and wisdom in your words.
Being sober or a vegan doesn't make you look batter.
Ringo a legend
I love the honesty of this one.
Stern telling Ringo how the Beatles wrote songs, classic!
This pretty much confirms everything I ever suspected about who really was the primary creative force within The Beatles, especially when comparing Paul with John. Not only that, but that song that John wrote(Jealous Guy) said just about everything you needed to know about John's view of Paul, and why John musically lashed out at Paul after the break-up. No matter how talented John may have been in his own right, I believe he always felt that his creativity was inferior to Paul's.
The quality of John's creativity is second to none, including Paul. But Paul was driven to produce, and did so, which was beneficial to the band.
For a drummer let alone any other person than the lead singer to have one song period let alone one song an album is impressive beyond words. Think about that.
Paul was the engine of it all
you can have a beautiful car but you need a good engine to keep it going
I love all 4 of the lads. This snippet just shows how cool Ringo is. Mr. Peace and Love.
Great questions by Howard Stern. I’m glad he’s asking all these questions, while we have the chance to get them answered. It’s nice he’s focusing on the guest and not himself, which is the true art of being a historiographer, that we will probably reference for ever.
*Forever Ringo! PEACE AND LOVE!*
Wish this was longer!
Why do people have the idea that these guys are any different than the rest of us? I mean ok Paul was the pusher. Someone has to be. Despite the breakup period they loved each other as people and friends. Anyone think they hated Paul because he pushed everyone to get going? Just dumb. I love all 4 of them together and separately!
Spot on
Howard knows how to interview. The correct questions to ask, doesn't hold back. That's what I love about his style, plus in this case, he's a big Beatles fan so, all the better!! Thanks Howard.
When four geniuses get together make history.
Pretty clear from the Get Back documentary that not much would have gotten done, at least during that period, if it wasn't for Paul.
Peace and love, peace and love.
Love the Anthology version of Good Night, it might just make you cry
I love this drummer !
Why do you hate the second 'm' ?
@@barnabyaprobert5159 Hahahaha yes you are right !!! I'm going to fix it !
Lennon's output seems extraordinary given the context Ringo described. With Lennon not being motivated and only writing songs when prompted by Paul.
The Beatles wouldn't had been The Beatles without Ringo. Period.
Is that so? Without Lennon and McCartney - where were the songs coming from?
The same could be said for any of them.
@@notbraindead7298 George is easily replaced. Drake Levin could have done his job better.
I never understood the whole Beatles vs Rolling Stones thing. For me, it's like yin and yang -- you take one away and the universe implodes. I'm not doing without Abbey Road *or* Exile on Main Street, thank you very much.
Mr Starkey, it is good to see someone who has become legendary also is humble and not with ego. I am curious how hard that was with two others that were known for having egos.
Amazing! Ringo now looks way younger than Paul. Love Ringo n Paul!
Well Paul had to take over on Abbey Road because John was gone at that point with Yoko a lot. You hear Paul on leads way more on that album. I can see him being called "the driving force" on Abbey Road.
Gotta love Ringo!
What a Gentleman Ringo is!!
Ringo... god a class act indeed
Howard Stern is the best interviewer hands down.
That's right. He just gets better all the time. Masterful.
You goddamn right he is.
Ringo always looks cool and young.
The Family guy bit when Ringo writes a song is an all timer.
Ringo is great, everybody loves Ringo.
John and i were sitting in the octopusse's garden,in the shade🎶
Ringo is lovely and loveable. Loved it when he gave credit to Paul for the amount of songs they created.
I always think this man talking about the memories from his previous life.😃 He looks so young
Paul made the better music but when it comes to someone that was down to earth and you could talk and have a beer with it be Ringo.
Such a wonderful man
meeting Ringo Starr is like meeting an apostle of the LORD
John called Paul the "Beatleholic".
0:50 that's the coolest thing he could have said.
The Beatles Forever!
Fifty years after they split up, the influence of The Beatles is like an indelible stamp.
I've known musicians, more specifically songwriters, who are technically proficient players with strong voices and reasonable lyrical skill. I've listened to their songs, both live and produced, and wondered what it was that made me feel like their music was not more than the sum of its parts.
In one or two cases, it was the discovery that they were not Beatles fans which put the period at the end of the sentence. In other words, they wrote what they called pop songs but lacked the essence that defines a pop song.
God bless Ringo!
Peace & Love
ringo is very cool
It was phenomenal......
For some reason Ringo has been my favorite Beatle for 50 years, god those pipes! He seems like such a nice gentleman. He will be the last surviving Beatle someday even though he was the sickest as a kid.
Ringo Starr,King of drums!
Ringo's drumming is just wonderful. Instantly recognizable style; always incredibly musical and tasteful. No, he doesn't have the chops, in a technical sense, of a Ginger Baker. True. But that's not what drumming is only about: he served the music terrifically. And the drumming in Rain, Day in the Life--and many others--is just fucking awesome, period. If you can drum, sit down and try to play what he played (once, organically, and could never reproduce, as he says). (If you can drum, I'm sure you have already!)
That said, I do enjoy Ginger's drumming (and Bonzo's) more...but that's taste. And, sure, you want ideally the marriage of total technical mastery and soul-heart-feeling that we can just agree to point to Beethoven as a go-to example of. :) Sure, very true. But technical perfection is not the whole thing.
OK. Done rioting in the obvious. :)
Yeah the thing that made Ringo's fills so unique (and I'm sure you know this) was that he's left handed but plays a right handed kit, so he doesn't do the typical roll across the set like drummers do, he goes backward in a sense.
Didn't Day in the Life just have an egg shaker?
Ringo's chops are vastly superior to Baker's.
Ringo is so fuckin' cool.
Ringo looks remarkably good!
I love you Ringo.
Ringo had always been so chilled.
The Beatles rival was Brian Wilson.
Why does Ringo dress like he's a 15 year-old skater?
when you are RINGO STAR you dress however you want. MUSIC ROYALTY!!
Because he can. Besides, he’s already done just about all other looks. 😂
He is.. Skater dont limit by age
Cause he's Ringo fricking Starr.
The Beatle's are a legendary band that will never ever happen again and the stones are legendary but there will never be anybody to tip the Beatle's . That's just being honest that hit like a plauge people were addicted to them
BTS are going to take them out those K-pop lovebunnies
How long before the Beatles' music is banned for not being woke enough?
the whole rock/pop music will never happen again
He isnt getting older, at least, thats what he dresses like.
I wished he answered the original question. But I do know George had said just that, that most often Paul already had the arrangement done already when he went into the studio. I think it's why most of Ringo's best drumming and most of George's best guitar work are always on John's songs. No doubt Paul is great, but so were the others. It's too bad he didn't let him have more free rein.
Ringo Starr, Tommy Chong, and Keith Richards are gonna live forever.
We loved the Beatles as children, we love the Beatles as oldtimers.
What a great notification to receive! That's not a title you get often...
Wolfscream I love the stories of how musicians would craft songs.
He looks and sounds better than I thought. Especially for 80. Ronny's age..
I just love ringo lol ❤
"If I do it, it's a Ringo song."
peace and love
People who are saying he looks in his 40s are tripping. Yeah he looks younger than his years, I'd say early 60s but he sure doesn't pass for a 40 something. What he wears contributes to how he looks as well.
This is the best part bands that I like is when they talk about each other and the way they did things, unless it's a group like Kiss or something who seem to hate each other
Hard to believe he's 103... Looks like a man of 78!
He is still sweetheart even he is almost 80!
