I colour mainly with pencils. What with the design/pattern-mania you triggered in me, I now use a lot of markers and gel pens for those tens of books I got recently. I love watercolour as well but the paper is so poor in colouring books generally, so I use that medium for sketches mad directly on watercolour paper. How’s the weather there now? It’s spring in south of England now, though windy and rainy at the moment.
Cully Howard so glad I got you into designs/patterns - well, maybe not? Lol. The weather is getting a little better although we broke another record low this past Sunday night. But it’s supposed to get warmer this week. Of course, that means the storm system coming this weekend is going to bring not only snow but probably sleet and freezing rain. Would rather have the snow. Well, it has to end sometime, right?
Gorgeous spring day here, sunny and warm. I’ve been colouring in the pattern books like mad. I like the Color and Create geometric patterns books and David Hinkin’s books. I haven’t yet tried John Wik, I only got one book of his and I want to start when I can think properly, his are quite intricate. My sister visited the other day (she lives overseas and only came for 2 days at mine) and now she’s hooked on the patterns too. You’re an influencer already!
Cully Howard I just love all three of the books you mentioned!! I’m so jealous of your spring day. Not sure if it’s a good thing or not that I’m an influencer but I guess overall it’s a good thing. Lol.
I use Pinterest. I either type in "Color Scheme" or "Mandala Color Scheme" or from my previous collected color schemes I found with the just mentioned method. I was so scared to go into mandalas, because I had no idea what to base my colors off of, but Pinterest saved my butt XD
I am watching….i stopped coloring for a while and have returned to it…..needless to sayI am rusty….I amusing gel sticks and pencils on a Grazia Salvo drawing called Loveliness…. Can you show us the mandala you are working on? I love doing mandalas after coloring a particularly difficult page just to relax myself….
Hi, I have just found your channel I know a year too late 😊, I'm from the UK I hope you and your family are keeping safe from this covid19, I always struggle with colour combo's for mandalas, thank you for sharing your techniques, as for the weather here its very windy 😊
Oh wow that is a very hard question, and I am not an expert in markers by any means. I really like them both for different reasons. I like Arteza because of their triangular barrel. To me, it’s comfortable to color with. But I also love the variety of colors in the 180 set of Caliarts. I guess if I had to pick between the two though, I’d have to go with the Caliarts. However, Arteza is coming out with a brush marker sometime in the future which would definitely change my mind as I love brush markers the best.
I suggest you get an inexpensive color wheel from Amazon or Michaels. On the back it will show you how to pair colors. It'll have a wheel to turn and you can select 1 of 4 different color schemes just by picking a main color. smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B002V5AZQ6 Another option would be to look up color palettes on Pinterest. You'll find tons of pictures with the color palettes listed.
Lisa you might want to check out Sarah Renae Clark, youtube channel, she has a free Color Catalog, similar to design-seeds.com but I think it’s better. She also has a video showing how to use it, I find it very beautiful and simple to use. ❤️. I’m not a mandala fan, unless they are easy like this one, thank you! ❤️
Thanks so much for this video. I plan to watch it again and color along.

Never too late. Lol.
Which do you prefer, Caliart or Arteza?

Could you send me the design? you mention that they send you some color schemes? I would love for this. Thank you so much.
I can’t remember what I was talking about in this video as it was so long ago. So I’m not sure what color schemes you’re talking about. Sorry.
Could you please show or tell me how you pick out a color palette. I have so much trouble getting the right colors to go together
