Was able to pick up a big fish almost every trip during summer fishing black n red jig with a super speed craw in bout 9-10 feet of water in standing timber. Also caught a 7-9 in bout 6 feet of water end of March in heavily stained water. Jig is my go-to!!
Do what I did this year . Just lock that jig rod in your hand and start dragging it around . It takes a little getting used to but you figure out what’s a rock , a stick , a weed or a fish
@@Byoung85in dirty water you can use straight braid but if the water is not dirty you will definitely want a leader and the clearer water the smaller diameter leader you will need.
I would not use a football head jig in timber but that’s just me. A football jig will work but will hang and snag more than other heads and you usually have to blow the spot out by going in to get your jig unhooked
Where do you throw a jig? ...Check Out Sun Shirts - finnfishing.com/collections/performance-sun-shirts
Shorter list is prolly where DON'T you throw a jig? 😂

Always 2 Jig poles set on my deck. I fish Lake of the Ozarks on the regular, jig is the ticket there
Me too. 1 heavy fast and 1 medium heavy fast. Just depends how I’m fishing to which one I will use.
Crazy cause this morning t tried the jig out for the 100th time and finally caught a solid bass!
One of the lakes I fish has only one dock and that’s the boat ramp lol
Thanks Tyler
I want to get better at jig fishing. I really need to learn how to detect a bite on all finesse styles. I also fish from a kayak.

Braid has a far superior feel to it and sets the hook consistently regardless of how much line you have out.
@@Daddy_Daiwado you use a flourocarbon leader or just use straight braid?
@@Byoung85 that would depend on water clarity. Clear water I’d use a leader . Heavy cover stained water straight braid

So around fallen trees and wood shore fishing what jig do you recommend a swim ,flipping, football head jig

Not as many bites but definitely bigger fish.
Correct my man. Go to a smaller jig and you can up the number of bites.
Would a med fast 7ft baitcaster work for a 3/8 oz war eagle finesse jig or not
More than likely yes what’s the rod rated for 5/8 or 3/4 oz ??
@@Daiwa_Is_King 1/2 but I throw a 3/8 oz chatterbait + trailer fine
@@Calvin-m5r5t ya you should be fine, some times it’s hard to go off weight ratings but it’s up to you on how it feels when your fishing it.
I really like to throw a jig around wood in 1-10 ft of water close to deep water.
