I experienced my initial awakening 23 years ago. The "ego death" comes once the person experiencing awakening makes it through Phase 1 or the purgation process, which is "the Dark Night of the Soul". The karma and repressed instincts, emotions, feelings, and complexes from this life are purged and integrated during Phase 1 of Regression- the Dark Night of the Soul. This took me 12 years. Then the person enters the deeper and much more difficult "Dark Night of the Spirit". This is Regression Phase 2. It's not so much the temporal identification with our roles and titles etc, these form an important part of our egoic identity. The problem is when a person identifies exclusively with the outer roles, status, how much money they have etc. During the "ego death" I did not know who I was, where I was, where I am going, etc. This was terrifying. I went to bed in this state and when I woke up the next day, my identity was restored. The mental ego goes through many of these periods as it eventually is integrated with the Soul or Self. It's important to know that yes there is an ego death but it is only so that the person can be reborn as the Soul or Self. Peace.
Hello I am in spiritual dark night of the soul after a 2 year DNOTS stage 1. Do you have any tips? I feel layers of resistance coming up and being released. Hard to sleep and hard on my body, what comes after this stage?

God is doing shadow work with me currently to help me process false identities attached to me since childhood and come into an understanding of who I am in Christ. this video was helpful.
I always wanted to be a Christian/religious wife. Literally. Bible study on Wednesdays, modest, prayer warrior, clean and righteous home. I waited for that outcome for over 20 years, I even converted to Islam trying to attain it. I got so much flack from people when I told them that wasn't my identity and that is why it all fell apart. I see God so differently now, there is no way I could ever go back to wanting that life. I actually have to stop myself from getting angry when I hear the way organized religion limits and wrongfully represents God.

Thank you for sharing this. Great articulation. I’ve been going through stage one for more than a decade now. I think just beginning (finally) stage two. It helps me to hear people like you share a similar experience/journey. A journey that can feel very isolating, alienating.

Im feeling the exact way. I had such a blessing of a time with my 1st year of spiritual awakening.... thought my life was going to be so happy an exciting like that forever.... until i vould feel it drifting an slowly moving into a dark night of soul. An boy can i say its really feeling like i just want it to be over already... 😢

It’s weird before I clicked this video I had a thought in my head that a lot of the things I have thought were true or true about me aren’t they were either opinions I formed in my head from things I was going through or dealing with at the time but also what other people had said or formed about me which is also not true only I can know myself and know myself and know what is true and not true

What i find most elusive is to find that love within. To love yourself is such a weird concept because i can't really find this "self".

How about identification with your own name? Is it really you?Name is the base on which we, ourselves, others, societies place multitude elements of identifications and any element is a matter of acceptance or denial for individual or external sources of recognition to be identified..Both acceptance and denial to which Name is attached hold matters of identification firmly in place ..Name is well hidden from a view of a seeker, however, name is a foundation on which ego actually sets its nest.

But there’s effort to step into the new identities now. It’s a strain. I’m not inspired to step into any, but I know I need to in order for forward movement. Inspired ACTION is at a minimum because I always feel fine. Always. So there’s no leverage there.
