I have the original Spider-Verse hardcover and I pre-ordered this one when it was first solicited to get Spider-Geddon, but proper mapping was always a hope in my mind. After the King in Black mess, I'm really glad to hear this one has great mapping on both events. This is how a collectable priced book should be, so keep up this level of quality Marvel!
How bad is King in Black's mapping? I've heard the run is good, and debated on getting it or just the run-collection without the tie-ins.. Is the mapping bad-bad? or just kind of 'event first, tie-ins after'? And even then, would it just be better to get the run-omnibus over the event one anyway? 😅 [sorry for all the questions]
@@NichoMania2 It's event first, tie-ins afterward, but the Venom issues, which within the story take place between issues of King in Black, are also in a separate chunk behind the event issues. If you've read the event, you'll know why this is a problem narrative-wise, and the Venomnibus by Donny Cates DOES actually properly weave the issues together with the included King in Black issues, so it isn't like the Marvel collected editions team doesn't realize there's a reading order, they just didn't do it for some reason for the KIB omnibus. And frankly, and I realize this is more controversial, even the rest of the minis being at the back is just a lazy decision. If you're going to ask people to pay money for a tie-in to an event, it should be at a recognizable enough place in the event to able to be put in a proper reading order. Marvel has shown they're capable of doing that with the recent A.X.E. (Avengers vs X-Men vs Externals) event, where everything fits fairly well into a timeline that can be read from the first event issue all the way to the last with the tie-ins weaved in-between. There's a couple spots where a tie-in book takes place over the course of several event issues, but all-in-all, it's very well put together, and if that omnibus eventually comes out with all the tie-in issues at the back, I'm going to be doubly upset, because it WAS in fact a good read with everything mixed in. I know they've been terrible at it in the past, but the writers are getting better, and the collected editions department needs to get better as well about putting these event collections together. Ok since I have the hardcover I was not planning to get this. Once again Omar’s great review (even with the heavy Omni petting at the 16:57 mark) this has become a must have! Thanks NMC
This overview is a thing of beauty Omar. This is the one omnibus I was most worried about in terms of how it was mapped and I'm so glad Marvel didn't mess this one up like they did with King in Black. All event omnis should be mapped like this one.
So happy they fixed the mapping and did a proper reading order. I am excited to pick-up this book now because of the mapping fix. Hopefully Marvel does proper reading orders for future cross over event omnis.
I just glazed over the spider-verse event through various videos but decided to purchase this omni after watching this video. Absolutely stellar video Omar. I cannot wait to dive into this one.
I preordered this bad boy. I haven't read any of it because I figured this Omni would be the perfect way to do it. I'm once again relieved by the mapping, since I avoided the Spider-Verse OHC because of its infamous situation.
After bugging Omar for over a year to ask David to do a spiderverse and spidergeddon in one omni I am taking some credit for making this happen. And of course thank you Omar for helping get this done. ❤
This will be the first Peter Parker Spider-Man Omnibus I will not get. I'm in the minority and absolutely hated both of these events. My Spider-verse is the 90s Animated series one 😅
I remember being riveted by Spider-verse when it was coming out in singles. Haven’t read it since! And never read Spidergeddon. Can’t wait to dive in to this book
I have been looking forward to this for a long time and have wanted to read this story. I will order this this week. And hopefully read it before the end of the year. I’m going through all spiderman books.
Mines on the way, I can’t wait for it to get here and then the superior spidey omnibus finally. Always the reprint of ultimate spidey vol 1 cuz I missed that lol.
Omar, with the other Dan Slott omnis coming out, you should do a reading order video. I've been wanting to read The Slott Spiderman run for a while now but the reading order is a bit of a cluster, with multiple titles and the weird omni release order. It looks like they are releasing the Omnis in reverse order and then I think there are several arcs not covered in the 3 omnis coming out this year (Spiderverse\Geddon, Superior, Brand New Day). I ordered the Verse/Geddon book but I'm not sure if I should start it before I read the others. I would like to minimize the number of Non-OHCs I'm buying.
Hey Omar just read Spider Verse and enjoyed it tremendously and I completely agree with you on the mapping it was freakin incredible. But in regards to Geddon that writing and art was absolutely HORRENDOUS
I owned the original Spider-Verse and loved the story. I didn't check out Spider-Geddon, I was waiting for the hardcover until the omnibus was announced. I would have preferred two separate omnibus but both collecting the trades to be complete and with the remapping. But I really am ok with this book. I'm excited about the remapping. Most event books, the other titles don't always impact the main event story and don't feel necessary for me. Spider-Verse is the exception where all the stories felt like they mattered, and there were a lot of Spider titles that continued or spun out of this event.
@Hello There for the original Spider-Verse OHC? You bet I did. 10 different bookmarkers. Which is why I felt that the actual reading order of all titles enhances the experience. I don't feel like doing 10 bookmakers again. Lol.
I am happy they fixed the mapping on this. But I am really baffled by Marvel deciding to combine spiderverse and spidergeddon. Especially if they had Slott working on a third installment. Pretty poor planning.. two smaller omniboo with a third one for end of spiderverse would have made way more sense.
If it makes you feel any better, there's pretty much no way they could have fit all three in a single book together. Spider-Verse is around 30 issues long, and Spider-Geddon is around 25 issues long with all the tie-ins, and then they included a couple other things I didn't even realized existed like previously video-exclusive comics, or the Spider-Geddon handbook. Amazon has it listed at over 1400 pages, so this is going to be an unwieldy beast as it is. "End of the Spider-Verse" is still ongoing in Spider-Man (vol.4, starting in 2022) single issues, and other than another 5 issue run of Edge of Spider-Verse, doesn't really have any tie-ins, so I suspect it'll just show up in an omnibus of Slott's latest run when there are enough issues to justify it.
@@HawkEyeTS oh god if they waited and did all three in one that would have been hilarious. 1400 pages is already a book that will start to fall apart after one complete read and a bit of time on a shelf.
