Today Union of South Africa was steaming up and down at Shildon, it's the 3rd of the A4 locos that have come, loads of people, Enjoy.

It's an absolute disgrace that Mallard, one of the most famous steam locomotives in Britain, if not the world, was moved away from the NRM and to a small town that hardly anyone has even heard of. Thank heavens it is now back in York, where it belongs. However, this is still a very interesting and well-filmed video.

@AtleeDeltic (I film events on my door steps, so not a train buff) I think that you must look at the wider picture, wider exposure of Mallard and thus more chance of restoration, it increases visitor numbers at both Loco Shildon & NRM York. It was always a holiday for Mallard and never permanent, Shildon I believe is the cradle of railways, so many enthusiasts would say, why not have Mallard at Shildon? NRM & Locomotion are slightly different and why not visit both? I didn't know M had moved?

i genuinely wish they could restore mallard to steam, just one more time, it'll never happen, but it'd be lovely :L
