    Another Van-life channel I follow that loves Bridlington is "By the Curb". James (the guy who runs the channel) has family who stay in a mobile home type set-up there, so he does a few videos a year from there. Great video as always guy's.

We also couldn't help looking up houses 😂 Certainly it seems cheaper but you'd probably have to pick your spot well. Weather is it what is, we enjoyed the atmosphere but it's just a bit impractical and of course wet stuff in a van is always to be avoided at any cost 😂🙈

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  4 месяца назад +2

      I guess we sort of danced in the rain as we hot-footed it back to the van 🤔😂 The video doesn't show it but it just got a bit TOO heavy to be enjoyable, however that area looks utterly sublime in that weather - a ghostly wilderness that feels far from this world. It was gorgeous.
      With the road, it's amazing what you get used to, Stephen adjusts very quickly to it and actually being back on the left is initially more confusing, but yes he was glad, since the driver's side is set up for left hand driving I guess!

The way the water drops transitioned between the clips was excellent. ❤❤ I really enjoy South Cliff Caravan Park; I've been there many times. Ah thank you so much Paul 😍🙏 Always going to get excited about fish and chips of course 😂 We hadn't had them for ages and I suspect it'll be another big gap again before we do. But it seems to have become a recurrent theme with our videos, so it only feels right to showcase them when we do indulge. Plus, they're just better in the North! 😍
      Good to hear you've enjoyed South Cliff too, it's such a well managed park and I'm curious how the adventure course will turn out. So close to the beach as well 😍 We forgot to film it, but not too far from there you can get the little motor train thing into town so you don't have to walk the whole way which is handy.

    We're going to have to look up this slow travel! However does this mean that for once we are trendy? We called it lazy, but from now on it's "slow travel"... Oh we are so using this as an excuse in a future video.
    Funny watching you both moaning about the weather while we are sat here praying that the rain we were promised today will actually turn up. Then you attack those fish and chips which have properly made us hungry. So we're going to have to head down to the local square for some chips.
    And who doesn't love a bit of Garbage.
    Much Love Darren & Alison 🤟♥️

      Eek, sorry to tempt you across the miles with the delightful battered goods 🙈😂 I can imagine that must be quite frustrating as you can't rush out to seek it somewhere. At least ice cream is pretty universal I guess 🤷‍♂️ (incidentally the best one I (Dan) had was a fig flavour in Turkey, I think it's very common there but I'd never seen it before. It was divine - look out for it when you go! I probably mentioned that before...).
      Sorry about the rain situation, it's such an extreme difference there 😧 We always say, despite any moans about the weather, that we'd take the UK climate any day over most hot places. Well, perhaps if the UK could shorten its winters by 2 months, that might be nice 😬 Hope the rain found you in the end?! 🙏
      Slow travel, haha it does make it sound more luxurious and sophisticated doesn't it, than "not moving much" 😂 I think it is a bit of a trend, however! And just to signify staying in one area for longer which we can definitely see the benefits of. In the UK, that would almost certainly involve staying on a campsite for an extended period though, but if it's affordable enough I can see it working.
      Much love to you both ❤️ 🤟

    Wow, Northumberland looks positively Scandinavian. I love to hear about old folk tales. Such a shame about the beaches and sewage problems. Must ruin not only swimming but beach front businesses as well. Cr@ppy in every sense. I miss soggy Britain and the proper fish and chips drenched in malt vinegar. We don't have malt vinegar in stores here, but a local pub lets me buy some (at +£5 for a small bottle, but it's worth it). Being Garbage fans shouldn't you be happy when it rains ...? 😂🤪 Lokg forward to a new video next week!
    Cheers from an equally rainy and soggy Skåne at the moment!

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  4 месяца назад

      Ooh damn, we should've got that Garbage pun in ourselves 😂 Yes, Northumberland from what we saw looks very Special (😉), absolutely blown away by that scenery and how remote it was!
      Yes the coastal businesses must really suffer - as soon as knowledge is out, hardly anyone is going to go, and of course the signs said to stay out of the water 😧 It's very grim. I don't know what will happen there but clearly something needs to change. We have quite a good map system in the UK showing where sewage is being released at any given time, surfers against sewage I think it's called. Very sad that it's needed at all.
      Oh no we would miss that too! Forgive me, you may have said before, but you are British having moved to Sweden? Other Brits we know who live abroad miss those things too we've noticed. I can't believe you can't buy the malt vinegar though! I assumed that was one of those all-over staples, but I guess not. I suppose £5 is worth it 😂 It usually lasts a while! Cheaper than olive oil at least 😆
      Thank you as always and greetings in rainy Skåne! 🥰❤️

    • @AbsolutePernilla
      @AbsolutePernilla 4 месяца назад

      @@comealongdear what? They map the sewage but do nothing to stop it? That is wild. No, I'm not British. Born and raised in Sweden but have gone to England a few times and loved it. But it was years and years ago. Had a go at Scotland once when backpacking through Europe. I wanted to go to Edinburgh but all the trains were fully booked so I went to Glasgow instead. Spent 30 mins before realizing I barely understood a word and this wasn't for me, so I hopped on a train to the French riviera. 😂😂 Would love to go back to Scotland though. Bring an extra bag just for malt vinegar... 😂 I don't know why people haven't realize the splendor of it. We have red, white, apple, and even champagne vinegar here. But no malt. Boo

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  4 месяца назад +1

      I think the sewage map is an unofficial thing, no idea who actually runs it! It just shows where it's happening to warn people who go swimming etc, but yes clearly the companies need to be held to account for it (it seems to be, slowly, moving in that direction at least)
      Oh backpacking though Europe must've been fun! So many countries and cultures to see. I can imagine, even if you spoke English back then, the thick Scottish accents would sound entirely foreign 😂 They are hard for even us English to understand sometimes if they speak quickly because it's just such an entirely different sound and unique dialect to what we're used to. Quite astonishing for such a relatively small island!
      The French Riviera was probably warmer anyway 😉

    Hi lads! Guffawed at your 1st paragraph comment for this video 🤣Hmmm re lake! Could be good for skinny dipping - but never do it alone, for health and safety reasons. Yes, been buying pots of fruit nowadays as a sweet, but added to it, a yoghurt, so good for you too. Yep, heard of Filey. Love fish and chips and often have it delivered on pay day or thereby. Not a cheap meal nowadays, but still relatively good for you, if you leave out the chips even! Great re toilets facilities. The longer you can keep people in the one area whether it's a park, antiques emporium, garden centre, the better it is for those who visit - and, where appropriate, more custom.🤑Again, some great music - listening to fabulous stuff with rapid arpeggi in it.

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  4 месяца назад +1

      The lake was almost too eerie to get in, I feel like you could end up possessed if you did, but equally, maybe a risk worth taking. It was a moody dream up there, we're very glad we chose to stop by.
      Yes, fruit and yoghurt is always a winner! Sometimes honey too, which I would think is slightly better for you than sugar - though a quick google suggests it's not so clear cut.
      I think we'd have to remove the chips and the batter, leaving only pure fish and no condiments for it to be considered in any way good for you 😂 But hey, as a treat it's worth savouring and certainly even better if it's straight to your door (as long as its still hot!).
      Thank you, and very pleased you enjoy the music 😍 Hope you're having a good weekend

      @@comealongdear yes, the so-called experts often fail to get it right re what's good for you and what is not. It used to be saturated fat I think, well now it's sugar. Natural fruit sugar is far better for you - and from the fruit itself. Oh sure, treat thyself once a month even with fish and chips, kebab, cheese burger. Preparing most of your meals from scratch is always a good, healthy idea, to avoid processed foods as much as possible.

      We use launderettes mostly. Park up in a town, take a couple of bags, put it in, sit around and wait or get something to eat while it's on, then done. It's amazing how many people still use them. Sometimes we use the Revolution ones you find at petrol stations, service areas etc, but they are hit and miss, mostly miss we find, so we prefer launderettes. Ah, the driving topic 😂 It would absolutely be helpful if I could, you're right. However, we discussed it at length before we did this as the concerns were on my side, not Stephen's, who doesn't mind driving at all. It was one of the first things I brought up when Stephen suggested we move into a van and he insisted it wasn't an issue. And, nearly 3 years on, it hasn't been, but of course I do worry about if something happens when I might need to drive, although so far that hasn't been the case. We never drive for more than a few hours, either, and of course not even every day necessarily. We've been together years before living in a van where Stephen was the driver, so it's not new as such. But yes, it's something it would be better for me to be able to do than not! I'm just not sure how I'd resume lessons and a test given we're not in one place for long enough really!

      You might also want to give it a go in an almost empty parking lot or a quiet side road. You can drive slowly, under Stephen's tutelage, until you are comfortable to drive the speed limit.

Is it not similar where you are? I think nowhere can escape it, although I think we'd take our can't-make-up-its-mind climate over anywhere with blistering heat! I do prefer the cooler weather, this old house heats up and doesnt cool down at night. Well I'm pleased you got some rain at last- if only we could have sent you some of ours from earlier this year 😉 The heat must be hard there - does winter balance it out at all or are we talking hot temperatures year round? I suppose the mountainous regions are cooler.
      We do eat a lot of veggie/vegan too, and you're right, curries are a saving grace for that. I noticed an Indian restaurant in the town near where we work is entirely vegetarian. Quite common in Indian culture, but very rare to see a restaurant dedicated to it in the UK. In the van, cauliflower, sweet potato and butternut squash curries are delicious, and simple to make. We could do with a few more ideas though.

      @@comealongdear Why are there so many loonies in politics, cant they get another job? It's the same here and why do people vote for them. 🤪 Yes its so much easier to chuck on a jumper than to cool down, we have had a few weeks of minus 2 mornings but its warming up now, high teens for a while before low 20's then the heat and by the end of summer I am praying for cooler nights. India is 40% veg but a lot of dairy. I could live there or Nepal, I have been three times last century and the population has doubled since then but I do like the culture. Over 1mil Indians live here now, lots of Sihk truck drivers, generally nice people. They do 000's of free meals around Melbourne. Sweet potato chips are so easy in an airfryer. You arnt able to use one in the van I guess but you still have lots of options. You do well to cohabit in a small space, Daisy is a convenient size but you werent tempted to go bigger? But you can always just fling open the door and go for a run. Do keep us entertained and best wishes to you both. 😜

    • @comealongdear
      @comealongdear  4 месяца назад

      Well I'm glad you have, however brief, the pleasure of minus temperatures for a while. I never knew how cold winters were in Australia but just assumed they were only mild respite from the warmer months. Of course I expect you are well adjusted, in the same way the thought of large and more ferocious creepy crawlies (compared to the UK!) is probably "regular" to you (or perhaps you see none, we likely exaggerate the idea in our heads here!).
      India and Nepal sound wonderful to visit. I've seen some videos, and the people and food seem worth it alone.
      We were tempted with bigger, but it seemed easier for Stephen to adjust to a small van to drive, and in the UK especially, it's easier to park and navigate some roads. Bizarrely, it always feels so "busy" in a van that we rarely have time to get annoyed by the other's presence, it's usually only the mornings and evenings we're inside together. But yes, open the door, and there is whatever outdoor world to explore to have some alone time if necessary 😁
      Best wishes to you that side of the world!

      😂 if they want to think that, who are we to stop them. Have parked in plenty of dogging spots by accident and just ignored it all, part and parcel of being in a van really.

      The question is, does it matter if it does? Having strolled down that harbour, we can safely say, it might be a fine scent worth adjusting to 😉
