Zone is actually a real thing, it's called "Flow" and was coined by a Croatian Psychologist called Csikszentmihalyi. It's actually applicable to any activity, video games, sports, writing a test etc. It happens when you lock in and everything seems to fit into place for you almost too perfectly.

Amazing, I understand fully now. That is awesome, so it's basically a super state of mind that requires a super high focus on something

It doesnt require hyper focus, its supposed to be a state of mind achieved naturally whilst doing an activity.

Yuusha-MOBA-GAMING Ultra Instinct is self movement. It allows the body to self move with itself without the require focus. You must not think whilst moving.

I’ve been playing basketball for about 10 years and I’ve only experienced something similar to the Zone once. We were playing against our rivals and it was a game I really wanted to win, and that drive led me to play the best game I have ever played. Some of my friends on the team, who also watch KnB, were pointing it out to me after the game. Even the opponents coach said he had never seen me play so good. So, I’d say it’s real and it effects everyone in a different way.

It's all about the confidence. U take ur first shot, it sinks.. U take a second shot, it sinks... Suddenly, u feel unstoppable.. U stop second guessing.. U stop hesitating... Suddenly, u pass better, u shoot over anyone... Suddenly, u see gaps, such wide gaps in the D, and it's as though u are alone in training.. Going for a simple layup. That's what it FEELS. WHAT actually happening, is that u are moving extraordinarily swiftly, the zone, is like bullet time.. And it only ends when u take notice of it. U don't summon it, and when it comes, u can't control it.. U just do, and let it flow through u. I'm not a pro player yet, but as I unlocked my potential, I felt it more and more.

Jj The 13th Also, i feel like if i get into such a state, i'll recognize it instantly and the problem is just that... Im greedy for playing well, and thats the problem. If i notice im sinking everything in, and that im dribbling through everyone, i loose focus and concentrate on staying in that state, rather than actually winning the game, which is the point factor that fucks me over

    • @jjthe13th
      @jjthe13th 6 лет назад +14

Dave Elevera. Cheers man. I know it coz I've felt it... I had a name for it.. I used to call it "The Power" when I was younger. I'd suddenly get this rush of adrenaline and determination.. an extra burst of energy where I felt none just a while ago. It was like the avatar state in Avatar the last airbender or the transforming through pain thing in Attack On Titan..
When u try to invoke it, it makes extra effort to NOT show up.
But the more I felt it, the more I experimented with it, and I think I found a way to sustain it... though it's still in the works, and it's bloody hard to maintain ...

I played basketball long before I started watching anime, but I can relate to zone in a way. It’s simple. When you’re hitting everything, and nothing will stop you. I had it happen to me once. I was hitting every three, layup, blocking shots. I finished the game with 33 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

"I'm in the zone right now" is a term used quite a lot in sports and while playing games. So Zone here is used in the same way as Ultra Instinct in DBS, it's not a "form" like super Saiyan or a power, it's a state of mind.
Compared to Zone, Ultra Instinct is basically the next level. In UI you go even beyond focus and trying, your body basically moves on it's own, offence and defence happen autonomously and most importantly your adrenaline also kicks-in which makes you not feel any pain or fatigue and everything you do is completely perfect.

"hot hands" is when a shooter is comfortable with their shooting form in their entire body. Even great shooters usually start a game little off in their feet being planted right or their follow through, but when you see a few go in you start putting a little extra spring in your jump and considering the angles before you even shoot it, itching for another chance to test whether you're as hot as you feel. This leads to "heat checks", where players take excusably bad shots just to see how sharpened their shooting instincts are to their proper form. there's a reason shooters with more consistent forms tend to get hot easier, they're closer to that hot spot by default. Basketball watchers treat "hot hand" like the defining factor is hitting one shot after another, but that's not it, it's about consistency and a hot spot mentally. The zone is different and can extend from shooting to dribbling to defending to post ups, everything, something that only extremely experienced players get to revolved around willpower and emotion. Flow state is yet another thing where mentally a person doing an activity reaches an extremely productive feedback loop and loses themselves in an affirming pattern of action.

Being in the zone can be applied to almost anything, and I feel like what it actually is can vary situationally. Sometimes it’s just down to adrenaline, sometimes it’s a matter of extreme focus or willpower, and yes, sometimes I think it can come down to luck.
As a massive gamer the best example I can provide is when you’re playing an extremely hard game or level (for some reason things like rhythm games and shmups are perfect for this) and all of a sudden after hours of harsh losses the world around you fades and you just start crushing it. I have heard stories as well as personally experienced situations where your eyes will literally go partially out of focus and it’ll seem like you’re perceiving everything on the screen at once. It doesn’t really seem to make sense but it’s definitely a real thing.

I am not a great player myself but i can indeed confirm "The Zone" is 100% real. I was practicing three pointers for years. I was always bad at them and could never find a shooting form. One day i had a chance to finally play and show my friends i improved. I missed most of my first shots. Until eventually in the second game i got a nice release, felt good, and the shot sank. I got a confidence boost from there but i still wasnt in the zone yet just playing normally. Next shot i got i hesitated less and focused on the hoop. Released and it sank again. I instantly felt good about my shot from then. I got another open shot in the opposite corner. Did not hesitate one bit, looked up, quick release and it sank. It felt great. I didnt realize anything special was going on in my head i was just doing what i practiced. I was open again, boom, another one. Got the ball on the left mid, cut in for an easy layup it felt like i was practicing alone. Caught the ball on a fast break on the left corner and let it fly, it felt great. And i remember watching the ball go through the hoop perfectly and hearing the swish. Everything was going my way. I just played, and let it come naturally and felt great.

well playing highschool basketball I can say it is true in a sense. I get these moments in a game where pretty much everything I wanted to do I was just able to do it, heck I wasn't even really a high jumper at the time either but at one point I ended up dunking on someone who was a foot taller than me and everyone looked at me like "where that came from?"
I tried dunking w/o anybody guarding during practice and I can't even do it LOL. There's just those moments for me where everything was just so clear, I wouldn't say like everyone is on slo-mo but seems like I can already see what was about to happen. But it definitely don't last that long maybe a couple of minutes of a quarter when we're struggling. Most of the time I just keep shooting when I feel it and watch that ball go in.
    Edit:
Details on that dunk, I saw a teamate shoot a three and I remember seeing it and I knew it was gonna miss and bounce right in front of the rim and I just jumped before it bounced over the center and basically did a put back dunk. I remember looking down and was like "damn, I jumped that high?"

It just keeps sinking in, just until you notice that youre doing it, wonder if the next shot will make it or not, unfortunately not making the shot, breaking the momentum...

I've experienced that stated before. I was training (Basketball) with my team and we were playing a little match. There was a steal and a guy wanted to take thy layup, and when he was about 4 metres away from the basket I just kind o snapped into the zone and ran from halfcourt to the basket and blocked his layup without even thinking. I was faster than ever, I jumped higher than ever, and I can't remember much of it, but it was an awesome feeling. Unfortunately, my body was too untrained and weak to sustain the zone for any longer and I had to go to the side because my legs were just really weak.

I entered the zone a few times back when I used to play Call of Duty multiplayer. During certain games, I would be annihilating everyone I ran into, I would react faster then usual and I wasn't worried about getting killed. I was really confident in my abilities and I would have the best K/D ratio for that game. But once I start thinking about how good I'm doing, my play slowly start getting worse and I pretty much lose the zone state. When I try to get back into that state and focus it never works, only once I stop trying so hard, there's a chance that I could enter it again.

All games had this zone thing. I got one when playing futsal the other day. Its zone or adrenaline rush. I didn't feel tired in the game, my mind is clearer, able to demonstrate good level of awareness (Didn't look at the ball at my feet even once, saw all my teammates around me, faster reaction.) But after that, burned out for 3 days.

I think i was in the Zone two times in my life. First time was with 15 in a football match with friends. I scored 10 goals in the match and we won like 10:5 or something like that. Second time was in a Company Football Cup with 19 or 20, i played with and against players from the 4th and 5th german football league and scored 4 goals. In both games my team was the obvious underdog. And after both games i was so exhausted that i had to lay down for like an hour before i could go change my clothes. I didnt even noticed realy much from the games, it was just play and score for me. After the second game one of the players from my team ( a guy from a german 4th league team ) asked me if i wanted to make a try out on his team. I never did the try out, i know that i am not even close to playing on that level.

I experienced something like the zone, one day while in a basketball tournament between a bunch of schools I just started scoring at least 15 points thanks to my teammates. Honestly the only thing I thought of at the moment was to make everyone proud and to surpass myself. That was a thing that I only experienced once unless you count every time I made a shot with very little help.

I recently had my first high school soccer game and I was up against a bunch of Juniors and Seniors from a rival school. Being a Freshman, most people would probably be intimidated, but I wasn’t. I didn’t see them as someone or something better, I just saw it as the thing stopping me from winning. When I truly felt in “The Zone” was during the second half. I was making amazing, spot-on, and maybe even impossible passes when I played. My foot skills were at an all time high and I was only stopped once by a defender in that game. If I were to watch it myself, I would’ve been amazed.
But in the game, I felt nothing. I wasn’t feeling anything. No emotion. No pain. I only had a desire. WIN. All I thought of was winning. I never thought who to pass to, when to shoot on goal, or if I should attempt to dribble. I just did it. No thoughts. Only action. So, when people ask if there’s a zone-like state in anything, my personal thought is that there is something out there that makes you perform at your peak and it involves your mindset. Whether called “Zone” or “Flow”, this thoughtless state of mind in which performance is at an all time high is there and, though I’ve truly only been in “The Zone” once before, I have recently tapped into it and it is very real.
So, again, I believe it’s true. Completely and entirely. If you don’t believe though, I want you to try one thing. If you play a sport such as basketball, football, soccer, etc. in which YOU can decide how the game will go, don’t think. Don’t feel. Desire. You need to desire something so bad that it’s the only thing you know when you play that sport. It works only if you focus on nothing but your desire. Saying is harder than doing for some, but if you believe you can do it and you find your will to do it, I can assure you that you too can reach “The Zone”.

Being a basketball player myself, and having entered the zone multiple times, I can tell you that there are some requirements to enter the zone which are :
    - love for the game / close to dedicate your entire time to the sport, video game or whatever you love doing.
    - experience of the game and knowledge of your body and its capabilities.
    - obviously be good (you can't enter the zone if you are not good at what you are doing).
    - a really strong opponent (how are you supposed to enter the zone if your opponent is trash lol).
    - forget everything else but the game and be locked in (super mind set).
    - you have to be extremely competitive / hate losing obviously.

What I do is I sort boxes I get from sort aisle and send them down the appropriate chutes for the loaders so they can load the trailer full of boxes. I'm like Aomine at this point. I'm the best in the building and nothing can stop me. I mock the doors open and throw myself in the zone. The music I listen to helps as well. It gives me a beat, a groove. I go till I can't go anymore. But once I'm out, my body shuts down. Which is why I wait till the last hour to do this. Cuz after that I'm dead as fuck.

It has happened to me once when I was playing cricket and my team needed 4 runs to win and we only had one ball left plus the opponents team fielder were the best and even the best batsmen in our team got out by those fielders and I kept saying in my mind that I have to score a 4 in this ball and the bowler's ball swing felt too easy for me (actually it was a difficult ball) and I hit it and scored a four

I’ve only ever been in the “zone” once (as far as I could remember) I was playing a game and I was doing okay throughout the game. But I really wanted to win so for some reason in the last 5 minutes of the game I couldn’t MISS A SHOT. Like Idk how to describe it. It was like no matter what shot I took or how contested it was it would always go in. We won but I felt like I was still getting better as the game went on but the game ended. So idk maybe I was almost entering the Zone but I’ve never felt anything like that again. But my school basketball season is about to start so I’ll come back and tell ya how it goes or if I enter the zone at all.

A lot of people in the comment section only describe glimpse of being in the zone. That is what it feels like.
However, I want to explain my theory of being in the zone. What I had experienced, and what I did to get there.
I want to start of by stating, not anyone can unlock being in the deepest part of the zone. What was described as being in the zone in kuroko is a different type of being deep in the zone. That zone, comes from sheer determination and willpower.
I want to talk about the true zone.
Back in 2016, I had taken a vacation to my home land. I just graduated, and was taking time off school. I didn't have anything to do, so I played basketball 4 hours when I got up in the morning, then another 2 to 5 hours in the afternoon. It varied everyday. I did this for 3-4 months.
So everytime I played, I always practed my fundamentals and incorporated calisthenics. As time passed, I realized I was getting better, slowly but surely. My moves were basic, but I began realising it was getting easier for me to move around and doing what I like.
So, after several months passed by, I came back to my homeland. I went to play pick up basketball at a park nearby my house. I played as regular and as I was driblling around, it suddenly happened. I began doing moves I didn't even practice, it was coming out automatically and my brain was so shocked. I continued to play and test my limits. I realised, I was limitless. Anything and everything I wanted to do, I did. There was no one stopping me, and if they did, they wouldnt be able to the next play. Even when I didn't want the ball. The guys were so amazed, that they kept goving me the ball. I myself was also amazed because I did not think I was capable of such thing.
Thinking back, I didn't even realize I was in the zone at the the time. Now, I know that it is what a true "in the zone" feeling is. The balance between reality, determination, willpower and imagination molding into one piece. It's not about yourself being absorded by your play. It's about the balance of your consience and abilities. That is the true zone, and it comes from practice. So, everytime you hold a basketball... you're always in the zone. Your off days and other peoples great days.
Some people will never unlock it, no matter how hard they try. I don't know why, but you could always give it a shot.
That is my experience and what my in the zone feeling is like.
If you want a simple story, back when I was in highschool, I came off the bench for a tourney, I had 4 fouls... my coach placed me in, I took a shot and started draining whenever and wherever I shot. From the half court to turnaround jumpers to shoot a 3 pointer. I did it. But I was eventually fouled out because I went to block a guy... it was a clean block but they called it a foul so w/e.

Basketball ball in real life surpasses anime!
The action and the suspense of the playoffs when every thing comes to the last second - literally-
    Curry 3 pointers rivals modorima
Kyre irving Handels and movments are better than aomini
Chris paul passes are better than koroko or akashi to some extent
LeBaron dunks and high vertical jumps are better than kagami
Harden's movments and foot work better than kise
Cousins, porzingis, AD, whiteside, drummond, deandre jordan are dominant like murasaki
Not to mention kD, westbrook, giannis... Etc
And those are just the current players

I dunked the ball, made a steal, locked down the other team's best player, and scored half of the points (games ended after 15-20 points). The Zone in any form is a state where the mind becomes completely focused on whatever caused the "activation" of The Zone and in sports it allows you to subconsciously aim and make tweaks while going through the motions. Think of it like Ultra instinct in DBS. You naturally go through the motions while your brain is constantly making changes and enhancements.

I jump higher, i dribble faster, i shoot faster,i move faster, i have insane accuracy. But it has one flaw, once you go out you have no energy and cant do anything anymore, the best thing to do is to not think so you can keep it for longer

As a volleyball player that wanted to become the best libero in the club I experienced this in a match! We were losing very bad. It was our serve but the serve was unfortunately not in the right place so the ball came back fast to the left wing. Whilst that was happening I was in the middle back, before the match my coach told me to squat lower, so I can get the ball back up when someone spikes it. Remembering his words I did squat lower than normal, my mind went calm and I saw everything in slow motion. I saw him hitting the ball and I saw the trajectory of the ball, so I took a step and it bounced of my arms. The ball went straight to the setter, and we managed to get a point. Everyone was wildin! Me too actually I was the one that was soooo hyped up. One of my best memories when I was still playing volleyball. I think I'll get back to volleyball hahahaha I miss the moments and the adrenaline.

The Zone is real, it can be a really unique thing for everyone. I, for one when I was playing HS basketball, I felt being 'in the zone', but in spurts. You cannot really do it for a long period of time because your body will give up. I did not score back to back just like how they do in the anime, but I just run, defend and jump like I seldom do. Of course you cannot sprint, defend and jump at your highest level every time but when I was 'in the zone', I can. It may be in spurts or just a matter of possessions, but when I am in this state back then, I was just laser focused on the game. I was extra aware of my opponents and teammates. The feeling is one of a kind. I think it is not on the skill level of a player but on a mental state of focus. We have all seen benchwarmers in the NBA explode for 30 or 40 without warning and cannot do it the next game. It can also be said when a player scores or makes a highlight play, they play better. I have seen players who seem to lack energy until they score or make plays. So yeah, the zone is real and it is different for every one. The slumps is as real as the zone too by the way.

Well, just one thing, the zone is not just in sports, it can be in other things, like drawing, writing, and music, but it is easier to notice it in the sports

I have experienced the zone a few times once when playing basketball and once while playing splatoon I have found that it has gotten easier for me to enter the zone as the challenge has increased

I entered the zone in a pickup basketball game with my friends once it was surreal. I scored 17 out of our 20 points and I did not miss an entire shot the whole game. I was unstoppable, it didn't matter who was guarding me as I hit shots all over the court. Whenever the team was down they'd give me the ball, but when it was point up everybody wanted to be greedy and score the last bucket. I literally told them if you want to win give me the ball (I never said anything as confidently as I did then)... they proceeded to chuck and we lost. One of my friends on the opposing team looked to me and said I will remember May 14, 2013 as the day you were unstoppable. Although that was the most painful loss ever the thought of the feeling I had during that game stays with me to this day.

Zone is literally the flow state, flow state is where you are too focused to a game or activity, that everything else doesnt matter, it means you will be able to play or do it with everything you got, making you much better at the game or activity
yes, it also can happen even if youre literally just sweeping the floor, if youre focused enough and youre not thinking of any other else

Yeah zone is a state of mind happens most particularly in the highest level of competition. You can't say you're in the zone just because you performed very well. Zone is something that makes you perform better than the best you can do.

Real talk when kise entered the zone that was the craziest thing ever. Not only was he able to perfect copy all the GoM styles but was also able to copy akashi's emperor eye. Add all that up with the zone and he is unstoppable, only downside was he can be in it for five mins at max from the drain haha.

Maybe saitama always gets in the flow state everytime. Maybe that is why he doesnt have feelings or to feel pain. Practice makes perfect with repition and saitama did his training for whole 3 years with all the pressure. Maybe he is always focus on fighting with his enemies tho. But still he loses in video games against king sooo. Just sharing my opinion guys. I havent sleep yet...

The zone is real... I play basketball and I've experienced it. It's an amazing feeling...
It's like, all your shots go in and you instinctively know what the right play to make is
