      Some nice looking cars now that they spent a lot of time to make them go to the grave . Just like when you take a girl home at last call in a pub . Looks are deceiving,but I would love to do this. The older ones have a thicker frame but are probably rusty rotted by now

      I always wonder where they keep finding them, but I guess scrappys would keep hold of any Farinas / Rovers / Granadas etc for years knowing that a racer will buy them at some point.

    Do these guys use the engines that originally came in the cars or do they have a engine they prefer and use in all there cars?

    • @johntomas5170
      @johntomas5170 2 года назад +1

      They usually swap them for ford 2.3 16v i4 or 2.8/2.9v6 engines in the unlimiteds

    Banger racers
    "Its not worth throwing money restoring these old cars "
    Then proceed to spend 10's of 1000's on a big flatbed lorry, painting, welding equipment, and buying the car, expensive fuel costs to travel around ,just to put it on a track smash it up, take it to a scrapyard and throw it away.

    • @charliegrace7459
      @charliegrace7459 Год назад

      Yeah but a lot of these people are mechanics and motor traders so a flatbed is part of their business, same with welding and paint.

      @@charliegrace7459 Well if they're classic car enthusiasts, why not spend those skills and facililties restoring them ?

      @@v8cool168 lol they’re racing enthusiasts not inherent classic car enthusiasts. Sure it’s sad to see some of these rare beauties go round the track but it’s quite spectacular also to see them go out in such a fashion.

    • @v8cool168
      @v8cool168 Год назад

      But a lot of classic car banger racers are classic enthusiasts ...supposedly. Or so they say when they get challenged. As a classic car fan , if I had facilities and know how, id try and restore them not race them.

      Although the chassis are too rusty to save, I had thought that they would retain the trim and fittings for sale at high premiums to restorers to offset the costs, but when I see banger prep videos, they just seem to hack it all out. When I was a kid, alloy wheels were extremely expensive luxury items, but banger racers don't bother to replace them with steels (which I imagine would be more resilient anyway).

      @@Ronnie1001 yes your right, there's no positives at all unfortunately, it's a shame 😞

      Some of them Oxfords and Cambridges (looked) pretty good around the sills and arches. Some of them are to good to be there. I think banger racers can easily pay a few grand for them, especially for these special meetings. As much as I love Banger racing it’s a shame to see another dwindling amount of British classics disappear forever. Some of the paint jobs on them were excellent thou. Takes me back to my Arena Essex days in the70’s 👍
