While you make a lot of good points, the reason Penny enjoys spending time with the guys is because they're genuinely good people. But she knows deep down that they're fun guys to hang around with, evidence by Penny's remark with Howard.

I think they were all too deeply scarred in school to ever want to set foot in a gym again.
