Just watched this TRIO live ( streaming) at the Detroit Jazz Festival.Linda was phenomenal..I could not take my eyes off of her.I so wish I had gone..the heat was just too intense yesterday...I had planned to record. Not sure who the drummer was but he was amazing as well( edit..Jeremy Dutton I believe).I hope they archived the performance!
@@everythingsawesome Folk as in the principle melody - has semblence (flow of notes) of something rustic and indian - like folk tunes - yet the jazz and other elements create newness.
A wonderful journey for me the listener. It bears repeating that Iyer's physics background leads his mind through a unique path ultimately exiting through his fingers for us all to enjoy.
Vijay Iyer's bass notes on the piano are very reminiscent of the great McCoy Tyner in this Touba song, which has a Malian feel to it a la Ali Farka Touré. Great tune!
Interesting comment for me personally, as I am seeing the trio tomorrow in Indianapolis and I will be seeing Oumou Sangare from Mali on the following day in Michigan.😊
It is your loss, as this Physicist is an incrediible musician. Loved his 3 tune performance at the 2022 Newport Jazz Festival on July 31, 2022. He was the headliner for the NJF Sunday session as far as I am conccerned.
@@flaviogominho4473 I just saw this TRIO at the Detroit Jazz Festival. It was phenomenal.Linda OH was just amazing..and I wish I had caught the drummers name.I had planned on recording in person...so wish I had.
Linda May breathes fire.
Linda May Han Oh slaying it.
Not really. Not here.

Reminds me of Elvin in 'Crescent'. Great drumming...
Saw these 3 in White Plains on 20240914 THANK YOU!! You are all amazing and a gift to the soul. Drummer and bassist here.
This album will be in my personal top 10 of 2021 for sure!
The bassist has so deep tone.... beautiful.
Love the different vibe Tyshawn brings to the table. Love Marcus too ovbiously, both are so heavy in very different ways.
Beautiful sound here as always! Bless you!
Superb .. he navigates, travels from the folk into jazzy jazz ...
What does folk mean?

Это прекрасно!
Would love to see them live. Fantastic!
I loved this sound ! Congratulations !!!
Wonderful. Love the arrangement
Splendid. What communication and understanding! Brilliant, each one!
The scene edits are on point
Coldest Elvin in 10 🎉
Dang! Whoa! Wonderful... you three are perfect here.
Not really. Perfect?
love it!!
Wonderful....
Perfection! It goes deeper and deeper the more often I listen to this ...and I think this will be called a Piano-Jazz classic in 40 years.
odlično
Phoning it in.
Bad filming... Too fast changes
Yes indeed, the video is very distracting and for me therefore totally unwatchable. However, this is a great double-LP.
Filming is fine. It's the Video editing that is the problem.
Close your eyes and listen to this amazing trio !
non ha il minimo senso l'editing del video!!
the editor must have thought that after one second, we'd get bored to watch those great musicans - so, no shot over one second !

I feel it. On second rendition too
Uno tra i peggiori artisti ECM, si ripete ad infinitum, stanca già nel primo minuto di praticamente tutto che compone.
Tyshawn Sorey is incredible. Vijay Iyer is technical AMAZING but doesnt really touch me - check Matt Mitchell or Craig Taborn👍
Wow I have the exact opposite reaction to Vijay's playing, especially here: this is all about feel and refreshingly un-technical
