I think this could really work best as a TV miniseries instead of a theatrical film. It would give it more time to breathe and tell the story and get us to care about Sang by having that extra time to explore his character and background more, as well as see more of this world. With some adjustments to the writing and pacing, it could be a really good watch.
Oh man, I'm glad to see a new video.
JSG: "Bruce Jenner's Nobody"
Me: *Is literally playing KH3 while listening to this video*
Lol
If Sang's story was more flushed out, it would make you cry.
Can this come out like a year ago?
Yeah, it's been a while. I noticed the 5th issue a couple of months ago and bought the series then, and kind of forgot about it.
Yes
This comic I picked up a couple of months ago, managed to get ahold of issue 2, tried looking for other issues, couldnt find none, felt bad I couldnt find any more issues at my LCS
A god damn Singing in the Rain reference!?
That "eat my asshol" note just needed folded lines on it to give people the idea he keeps it in his pocket.
The problem with it as movie or TV is that it has too much action and too many characters. You couldn't adapt something like this easily with a reasonable budget. The idea of slowing down the story to talk it out is good, but having a gang want to build a community center is stupid as the talk ending up being pointless in story terms. Like alot of people, he is overflowing with good ideas but doesn't get how to properly construct a story. The book is almost more a catalog of good scenes than a story. And I dont know what he was thinking when he pulled out the scifi boss battle at the end.
You are correct about the exposition at the end. That needed to be salted throughout the story as character development scenes. Quiet bits between the action scenes. You are also correct that main character motivations (ala John Wick) have to be clear from the start.
The good side to doing movie/tv proposals in comic form is that if they are done well, you have something that people can easily understand because you have storyboards and early visual design right there on the page. But the downside is that if you get it wrong, you can't do another "draft" as you do with scripts. Comics (at least how we do them now) is a one-shot thing where your ideas are all out there and you don't get a do-over.
The art style kind of looks like Gorillaz, or tank girl. I think both had the same artist.
@MaverickhunterXZero both were illustrated by Jamie hewlett.
The western vibe is probably from "The Warriors"
I thought the same thing about "The Warriors".
🎶 "....WARriorrrss....." 🎶
@@Maniacman2030 crazy thing is, I'm 26 and know about it, but my 44 year old step-dad had no idea what I was talking about
[2 minutes in] Okay, I'm gonna pause this video, find something else to watch until I finish eating, then come back here.
Honestly... would a large zesty bong hit make this story as a whole easy to get through? I'm just saying is all. Sounds like it could be a fun ride, but I might need some... help... yeah, help is the word I will used here.
a Hong Kong action movie take on the movie "the Warriors"? That almost fits the bill with what you described. Throw a little M.Night in the mix and it might be a little more accurate. Thank you for the video.
City of Violence kinda already did it. But its Korean. Really good
Seems like it could have made a good 12-16 episode anime style series. Definitely sounds like it also needed a really good editor.
This comic looks like something I would have picked up blindly
I liked the book up to issue 3 then it kinda tapered off. I liked the book overall though.
It was very busy, much in the style they're going for.
Review Battle Angel Alita( the manga) as the movie is out.
Mark Millar. From what I've read he's natorious for wanting to focus more on making his works into movies than anyone else.
Something about you saying "hipsters with Tommy guns" was funny to me.
The biggest problem with this comic is how fast paced it is
10:38 ultra violent film were characters be talk it out that's like Goku and frieza talking over a cup of coffee or Yugi Moto just testing up mariks deck
In Naruto it was known as "Talk no Jutsu".
I like the art style, but this is just a perfect example of how important writing is in a comic. It can be neglected.
Did you read Body Bags? Strikes me as kind of similar. Not a copy but same vibe
Wicked review, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Vic Mignona fiasco though
Man I want to make a script out of this but leave out certain ideas and bring in more fleshed out concepts.
This rough art style is something I really hate.
Not enough effort
Itch the Killer is also based on a manga
A reference to the warriors.
The Warriors?
I think western and eastern styles mix well
If the warriors meets ichi the killer
Some may be disturbed by seeing a kid kill people, but I've watched Higurashi....
I loved Brisson's run on iron fist
What? The dog was not obvious from the start!? oO"
I must be too autistic for any obtusity of John Wick.
You forgot to mention Crows Zero fam one of my all time favourite movies.
I dig the art
It also sounds like it has a tokyo tribes vibe
U ever gonna talk abut the Ballad of Edgardo ?
I like crazy comics. so I like this work.
I loved 13 assessins and ichi the killer.
Please review the next great anime/manga. Show Zach de way.
Black Clover? Something newer?
DOJYAAAN
Yeah..... Doesn't seem bad, or like your typical SJW trash, at the very least. But you're not wrong that something like this would have worked as animated series (or film, preferrably animated.).
This shit happened to games a bit too. Just make a movie fuckos.
Man, this comic just screams trying too hard to me.
Its the typical problem of a young person overflowing with good ideas but not the self-discipline to organize the ideas into a proper story. These type of people want to put every good idea they have ever come up with in their life into one comic or one story.
I do like the art, though.
I mean I am just starting my comic and yet I do believe I could fit whatever the hell I please in there, it usually depends on the theme, if your comic is supposed to be grounded with certain aspects of realism and mood then you should know where to draw the line.
Samurai Jack is a good example of a story being able to portray whatever the hell the authors wanted at any given point, because of the broad possibilities already stabilished by the beginning of the story, not feeling weird or inconsistent.
You can fit whatever you please into a comic. But its best to set it up properly. In the case of this comic, he should have put some hint of biological technology being available earlier in the story or hint that he was not quite human rather than just springing it on the reader when the fight starts. There was nothing wrong with the fight. Its more a question of how to properly do world-building for the reader.
It looks like you drew it
Sang vs Hit-girl
well hi there
I got an idea for a comic if anyone wants to hear it
i do

Oh really? Thanks, man! To put it in the basic a young boy named Tykashi lives in a world just like ours only difference is that they have a superhero named wingman who has been fighting and saving people. He appeared right around world war 1 and has been the reason why the united forces won both wars. After that, he has become an icon of the world and similar to all might one for all his power can pass on to who he deems worthy. There have been 8 people who have been wing man/ wing woman right now and 2019 wingman has grown old and getting weaker its time he passed on the mental.
Tykashi freshmen in high school had a project on what he wanted to be when he grew up. He got in front of his school and said he wanted to be wingman and how he wanted to change like how he wanted his grandma wanted him to in his own.the school called crazy for it but one old man walked over to him and explained how his speech made him feel and then and there he told the school that he was wingman and tykashi was the one who he'll pass his power on to. This spread fast around the world but one problem that people saw. He was black all wingmen and women have been white. Now most people are fine with this kid being wingman as long as he does a good job hell even Trump is rooting for him. But sadly there are people like the sjw, anitfia, KKK, and black activities. All want him gone or be the hero they want instead of what the world needs. With the whole world watching his every move he must fight to keep the world safe by new super villains that have appeared and make sure his name and wingman's doesn't get dragged through the mud
@@inkkid376 that's pretty nice

Thank you
The art's a lil rough [[ i.e. underdeveloped ]] to me, but I honestly dig it
But, yeah.... the plot/story sounds undercooked and apparently can't help but suffer from it
Nice
*(Bring On The Darkness)*
"interesting style" = hideously ugly.
Got it. 😁 😂 Lol
Well
Im an artist
Anyone got a screenplay for me?
If I knew his contact info, I'd point you to the guy that wrote an unproduced movie script I read for a screenwriting class. "The Pack".
Minority werewolf gangsters vs skinhead gangsters who are also werewolves.
This is better than Takeshi 69
But they always ruin the movies. I thought world war Hulk world make a great movie. Then they turned it into a Thor movie. I didn’t bother watching it because I knew that they would have butchered it so much it would have made me angry. People said it was good but none of them have read WWHulk.
Just to show how fair comicsgaters are, this prepubescent brat effortlessly slaughtering hordes of grown, hardened badasses annoys me just as much as a boy, as it would if he were a girl. Talking about things that knock you out of this 'hyper-real' world - that does it for me, right at the start and throughout.
Also, one wee thing, on that page that shows Sang's scrawled memoirs. That just screams that it was written by a comic writer (or a failed movie writer). The portentous statements, cut into different paragraphs...
... by ellipses, then emphasised WITH ALL CAPS... that's not how a young kid writes, let alone a semi-literate young kid.
With all that and everything else mentioned in the vid, the comic seems to me like some writer's near-Gary-Stu power/revenge daydream ("If a bad guy came up to me, I'd be like, whoosh, hiyaaa, urnf urnf urnf, raaagh! Then everyone would clap.") than a character's story. I'm probably missing the point, that it's all about a bit of the old ultraviolence, but still. That's not going to cover up any deficiencies and negligence in the story, any more than a virtue-signalling lead character...
@@Maniacman2030 I started to read your comment, but somehow in my head it turned into the rationalisation for using dinosaurs as bioweapons or 'soldiers' in the Jurassic World films. (Or Dog Soldier werewolves, or Hulks, or Piranhas, or even Xenomorphs) Why not use pandas as shock troops? They'll lull the vicious killers into a false sense of security with their cuteness...
Er, nothing personal, you understand.
