PHO Webinar: Orientation for IPAC Leads in Long-Term Care: Environmental Cleaning

- Public Health Ontario (PHO) is hosting a six-part weekly webinar series to provide orientation information to novice IPAC leads in the long-term care sector. This is the third presentation in the series and addresses key elements of environmental cleaning to build a strong IPAC program in long-term care homes. This session will describe the role of the environment in the transmission of infectious agents and key approaches for cleaning and disinfection within the long-term care home. In addition, the session will address the physical environment, waste management, laundry and linen handling.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the role of the environment in the transmission of infectious agents
2. Understand the importance of collaborating with the Environmental Services department
3. Identify key principles of cleaning and disinfecting the environment
4. Identify IPAC considerations related to:
5. Physical environment
6. Waste management
7. Laundry and linen handling
