I took Diazepam for a short time and it literally saved my life. My anxiety and constant panic attacks had become so severe I was living on a liquid diet and was seriously thinking of unaliving. Fortunately I didn't have any withdrawal or any negative side effects as I was only on it while other meds kicked in. This was 5 years ago now and back then I couldn't have imagined being alive now and recovering, never mind having a precious 3 year old 🥰

As a 'former' psych and chronic medical disease patient, please get a health professional that listens to you. I had several different doctors and would've been nice if they'd collaborated with each other. And now, over 15 years of taking very very strong mental and physical meds, Im still struggling to come off of them all. I'm off all psych meds thankfully, still have 1 for my medical problems that I have tapered down alot. How can I ever get better, if I'm always wearing a band-aid?? Thanks for your channel. This and other channels like yours and Rens (and friends) music have literally kept me going through the worst parts, so thank you again.

He's so correct I got a script for diazys when I was 13 yrs old along with anuva benzo due to the fact that I cannnot cope with my thoughts and when i don't take them everythings too real and my inner thoughts go round n round , ocd comes back out , but also everything looks cleaner when i take them. i lose my shit. but currently my drs are messing my script up so it's never at the pharm for renewal so i sit in fear and panic in withdrawals on the merryground of anxiety. i'm now more anxious about getting them than the anxiety thet were prescribed for. hell.

All they did was give me an addiction that was harder to stop than crack cocaine was! Luckily i was able to get rid of all addictions 5yrs ago but i have had to battle anxiety and luckily again I did work and thats gone! Thanks doctor!

My hardest withdrawal was with mirtazapine for anxiety. It worked brilliantly at first, helped with sleep and agitation. I felt some peace for the first time I could remember.
Then it stopped helping, and after a year my doctor wanted to try something else. The withdrawal made me promise myself I would never have it again. Agitation worse than ever, insomnia for days at a time that nearly put me in hospital, itching all over, flat out panic, depression. It was horrible.
Sometimes when the anxiety is bad I wish I could try it again, because it helped so much at first. But I can't ever risk how ill stopping it made me.

Oh god, i'm on it for quite a while now. My new doctor changed my dose for a smaller one. I still can sleep. I am a lot more irritated, but i didn't connect it with the medication. But i also have some troubles at work, so i'm not sure about anything. Do you now take something to sleep better? (Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my native language)

When there's medication as diazepam, which treats more than one condition, or elements, and it doesn't work as everyones different.
So does then the information get stored for further patients with a condition.
As it seems a bit hit and miss with some medications, and the side affects can be worse then the Meds.

Ultradian cycling bipolar one, anxiety, PTSD, dissociative identity disorder here. I have an amazing therapist that is helping me to face and understand and deal with childhood trauma and my lifelong physical and mental and emotional reactions to it. (Self hate/drug abuse/suicide, etc.)
I've been through a number of therapists. It wasn't until I was ready to be honest with myself, and stop lying to my doctors and therapists that I have begun to heal.
For me, there's a horror to healing. I'm developing the skills to understand the horror and accept the healing.
Writing all this is the long way around the bush to say,
    "Thank you, Dr. Syl,
for your insights and explanations." Both Ren and you speak to my soul.

I take Xanax for sleep. Sleeping meds do precisely nothing because they don’t quite my mind, Xanax does and therefore I am able to sleep. I’ve taken it for years, decades actually. Same dose. Never more. If I am still unable to sleep then I don’t sleep. I wouldn’t be above ground if I didn’t have it to quiet my mind.

My body is tens all the time, can't fully relax, i use strong hash to deal with it but it never gets away, just barely managed. I have tried all kind of (pam) and it shuts down my brain instead of numb me. Pregabalin is only stuff that works but i can't use it when working.

I think it's different for Ren as he wasn't psychotic because of life....he had psychosis because of a reaction to not being treated for his Lyme Disease and then placed on antidepressants to control his reactions to what he was going through. As an ex recreational drug taker MDMA weed cocaine etc When I've been prescribed drugs like diazapam it's so alien to us and a departure from the euphoria experienced on rec drugs. I often wonder if it's advisable to prescribe Benzos to ex drug users because it's an additional conflict in the mind.
20 years drug free by the way.

Diaz makes my brain feel like I'm getting a warm comfy blanket wrapping it up. But it's such a good muscle relaxant for me so yeah it's hard to not have it when I know I must not take it every day.
I worked in adolescent drug & alcohol detox for many years. I did social work but specialised in mental health, youth & AoD. It was a harm minimisation model with a reducing regime of diaz & temaz. These kids were so very sick we would do bed checks every night like 15 min for the first week. Often I would find myself changing a client's bed 3 times a night cos they're just sweating everything out. I know that some wouldn't make it but I kinda hope that some did make it through & are doing ok.
Very useful medication but oooh it's a bit of playing with fire especially if you've got that addictive personality

Dr Syl, have you read the 2004 industry standard 'Insight and psychosis'.
I liked the part where they say there is 27 dimensions, but it is better if the patients had no insight and were drugged under the umbrella term psychosis.
I have received many of your chemical lobotomising anti psychotics and I recorded with diary entries, the rapid mental decline that left me with psychosis when I am a high functioning schizophrenic.
If I complained about side effects - my sweet drs at hospital would double my dose of respiroden until I was dribbling.
Also what do you think about the Australian mental health corporations decision to leave the Hippocratic oath 'do no harm' out of the mental health ACT.
Is this an industry you can be proud to serve.
I consider that holding people against their will, torturing, drugging and judges/diagnoses them for years on end, to be near the demise of their antiquated barbaric practices.
It's basically a made up industry to hide a bunch of dirty little secrets.
That's my two cents opinion, however with my level of psychosis it hardly matters what I think.
I am curious about your opinion.
Also take your own meds for three days, I dare you.
There's a doctor in Canada that asserts it takes 8months to recover from one depo injection.
So many experts, it's unfortunate they all tell a different story.
