- iPhone 8 Plus vs iPhone XS Max Speed Test! Hello all and welcome to my speed test comparison between the 2017 Apple iPhone 8 Plus and the 2018 Apple iPhone XS Max. The iPhone 8 Plus comes with an apple a11 bionic chipset with 3GB of ram and 3 core apple gpu. The iPhone XS Max has an apple a12 bionic chipset with 4GB of ram and a 4 core gpu. The intentions of this speed test is for you to see if there is any real world upgrades to the iPhone XS Max from the 8 Plus in performance day to day. Yes it certainly is and I'm delighted with my 8 plus red edition 256GB model recently acquired. The wireless charging is so cool and I'm one of those guys who likes the secure feel of the home button. Make sure you get a decent case though as it's slippery. Expensive enough as it is!
Yeah, the 8 plus is a great phone. I've been using it now for almost a year and it has been running great. Also the photo an video quality of the 8 plus is very good in most real life situations.

It’s not really giving them anything. Cause your phone retains its value in the market very well. So it’s a win win. For Apple and for the customer. They might drop 2k on the max. But can easily sell that a year later at 1.5k. So not a big deal

Thanks for this demonstration. I was debating getting a XS Max or maybe an XR but decided to go with an 8 Plus instead. I just have trouble letting go of Touch ID, especially if the performance gains are minimal with this price difference.
Nice comparison video. I own the iPhone 8 Plus & I’m happy with it. The main noticeable differences to me is the full OLED screen size and no Touch ID. I will miss that feature! I have seen the iPhone max in person & it’s a beautiful iPhone. It will be lots of flicking though, which will take getting used to.. Thanks for posting!

Not enough to validate the price difference, as usual, last great update was Iphone 6 to 6S, phones have reached there full potential in speed.
CR7 Juve agree, the A9 is a beast, best dual core processor, 6S, plus and SE are all very fast, maybe 1 or 2 secs slower than the X max but you can't really feel that in daily operation

AsianViolaPlayer Humm, it's a good decision, but I can't feel any slow with my SE so I will hold it for another year
CR7 Juve the biggest upgrade imo was the A10 fusion chip to the A11 Bionic. It was like a 2x performance gains I. Benchmarks and it still feels incredibly fast compared to its predecessor. The 7 Plus is still a fast phone, but the 8 Plus and X really are a lot faster. Biggest speed upgrade numerically in a very long time.

Hey there Nick, Even though I'm a bit late watching this video as it got lost in between my other "watch later" videos I gotta say it's good that someone finally did a comparison between the 8Plus being the phone I currently use and the now new "plus" size iPhone being of course the iPhone XS Max.....
I'm kinda glad that I held off from upgrading as the 8Plus I use now is doing more than fine for me it's running well & with the start of "5G" being introduced as of next year would rather have an iPhone that is able to do that & maybeeee Apple will really narrow down or remove that notch all together.....
And if they happen to reduce the price by a little then that of course would also be good but let's not hold our breath on that happening....lol.....Anyways keep doing what you're doing Nick you've got a great channel here bud!!

I switched from iphone x to an 8 plus because that face ID is garbage. Especially while driving in busy traffic. I also hate how the control center comes down from the top..so inconvenient. Oh yeah and have fun taking screen shots while trying to turn off your alarm in the morning. ..

College student here, had the iPhone 6 since it came out and it's been through hell and back, Touch ID doesn't work screen discoloration pretty much since the first year and for a few days now it's struggling to catch wifi and Bluetooth signals from even a foot away, so I was wondering if I should upgrade to the iPhone 8 at $600 but that leaves me with the same old design I'm used to from the 6 or upgrade to the 10 for $900 with new design but $300 more, the iPhone 7 is also in there as a option but not sure yet, any thoughts on what I should do?

You could sell old iPhone X and get 680$ back or even more. Only cost about 300$ to upgrade.
Ngo Gia Khanh Even if it only ends up costing you $300 (which probably doesn’t take into account tax, Apple Care, maybe a new case, ect.) that’s still money that you don’t need to spend on something that’s pretty much the same as what you already have, but as I said, some people just have to have the newest toy and will find a way to justify it. But whatever, everyone is free to spend their own money however they want.

I switched from the 7 plus to the Xs Max. It’s been a wonderful experience. Super powerful. Screen is phenomenal in comparison. Clarity with blacks (and all colors) is extremely noticeable. I don’t even miss Touch ID. Face ID is just as fast, if not faster when your finger is not completely clean. Also, Face ID is more secure. Anyone can place your finger on your Touch ID when you’re sleeping, but with Face ID you must be awake. The boost in screen size is 100% worth it.

Once you get used to the X, you won’t want the home button anymore. It’s old and slow. Gestures and Face ID are way more fluid.
Sadly my iPhone 8 plus will be the last iPhone i will use, i absolutely detest the X notch display and as much as I am appealed to the face ID i still think that the touch id is more convenient in some scenarios. That being said though, I cannot have a phone that has a notch, it’s not about apple, i just find it ridiculously useless, for that small screen estate you gain, you lose the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, heck even RUclips is messed up and is not displaying the native video on that aspect ratio...

Wow hardly any difference. I was thinking of getting the xs max, but meh. I have a Galaxy s9+ but the iPhone looked really nice and it sounded like it was gonna be a lot faster

Nick Ackerman I think this is a good preview of what we can expect from the upcoming XR since it matches the 8 Plus in ram and resolution(a little under the 8 Plus at 828p) but remember the XR will also have the A12 and less pixels to push so I would expect the XR to perform better than the higher XS/XS MAX. I’m not aware if apple will lower the clock speed on the XR either to make it appear that it is not as fast. It will be interesting to see
Good points overall, but keep in mind that resolution will have no bearing on speed, only on battery life.
