  • This is how i modified the canon 24mm EF-S STM 2.8 Lens, you can do it to as you can see it is verry simple and easy to do if you have patients proceed with caution while you are taking the lens apart, it is nice to use your existing EF-S lenses with your Canon M50 and Viltrox Speedbooster as you will have partially full frame equivalent and better aperture on your lens.

    After removing the plastic from the 24mm ef-s lens, I get the Original 24mm in the full-frame camera, I have a Canon R with an adapter?
    Or it will always be crop 24mmX1.6 which, is 38.4mm.

    • @RetroAT
      @RetroAT  3 года назад

      If you have the EOS R and you do this modification you might run into a problem with vignetting, the M50 has a small sensor and I get a slight vignette but with a larger sensor like the EOS R vignetting might definitely be a problem

      @@RetroAT Hi, I was glad. I thought I found a good solution and can I get on this lens, Original 24mm on a full-frame camera, without crop by removing the plastic circle.
      so, if I Removing the round plastic from the EF-S lenses. Allows screwing the EF-S lens On a full-frame camera, I know it's possible on In some EF-S lenses. My question: does this also eliminate the crop and Get the Original Lens focal length on a full-frame camera?

      @@user-hp1im5xc8hif you use the ef-s lens with a regular adapter you will get a crop, because the R series can detect ef-s lenses and when they do it adds more crop to adjust for the ef-s lens, i see metabone has a speedbooster that will solve your problem but it's expensive, don't know if viltrox have speedbooster for EOS R

    Hi I;be done a similar mod to my setup. But I have found that the 24mm in the viltrox adapter does not focus to infinity. Do you have the issue?

    • @RetroAT
      @RetroAT  4 года назад +5

      yes i had that same problem, i then realized its not the lens its the speedbooster, you need to adjust the lens in the viltrox speedbooster, take a lens cleaner cloth and hold both sides of the lens in the viltrox speedbooster with the cloth and screw it inward, the 24mm is touching the lens in the viltrox speedbooster when it tries to focus to infinity so when you adjust the speedbooster it will focus freely

    Does canon ef-s 24 mm working with autofocus with a Viltrox on sony/panasonic ??
    I am having issues with 24mm with autofocus on lumix gx85. But the canon 55-250 mm is working flawlessly on the gx 85?
    Can you give any suggestions what is going wrong with the 24mm

    is it necesssary to modify the lens ?

    • @RetroAT
      @RetroAT  Год назад

      Based on my understanding this lens has two versions, one that does not need any modification and another that needs to be modified, like in my case in this video, the one that needs modification has a more quiet autofocus than the one that doesn’t need to be modified

      Yes it does, after the modification it still works without the adapter, so you will have the benefit of using it with and without adapter, it will work on a 100D or any other with that mount 100% because no electronics were changed
