Wait, this was one of your first piano songs?? That's just crazy, oh my. :O I mean, it's not that tough, but the amount of pedalling decisions you need to make to get the harmony right is just insane. And definitely not for a beginner. So kudos to that, man
Haha, I feel ya. The first VGM tune i tried to learn was bespinben's Sky Tower.... I was only like grade 1 at the time... that didn't end well lol. Even now, trying to learn some of threelines3's stuff (his arrangements are so GOOD!) and it's next to impossible haha....... I'll shut up now...............
This is the first song i learned in piano to surprise my music teacher because he likes Pokémon Black and White as much as me, so, when he recognized the song, he started crying and played it himself, he's the Best teacher ever, greetings from a Reshiram that come here after years, crying while remember when N tell me to follow my dreams... It was just a Game but i really felt his words...
Dude... so beautiful I cried... like really criedT_T. the notes, the melodies felt so deep... "You said you have a dream... that dream... make it come true! If anyone can it's you! well.. farewell." It's like N is saying those words all over again:"). What A character, what A pianist...
N has got to be one of my favorite characters! BW(2) are my favorite games because they were the first that started putting more emphasis on the story. The entire storyline of BW has pretty dark themes compared to older games. N’s entire story arc and character development is unlike what we had seen before, and it was executed SO DAMN well! This theme just really represents that and it makes me emotional listening to it! Daj, you did an amazing job!!
oh yes absolutely - anyone who followed the exceptional bw story should be pretty shaken by this theme when it finally plays ;w; thank you for listening in! ^^
It is the best BW song indeed :,) I mean, personally I chose the N Final Battle theme to represent the BW OST - it's complex, curious, and just so well-crafted you can't ignore it. But that's technical stuff - if you just closed off the judgment and listened to music in its purest form...then this track is definitely the most beautiful one in the BW collection :) So glad you liked this one, thank you for stopping by to listen
Yes, abolutely! ^^ I believe this is the most heart-wrenching track of Pokemon too, haha. Lonely Lillie is a close second, but that one makes you cry out of happiness - this one is just passionate and beautiful. I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed my take on it - I recorded this one on a really emotional night, so hey, I'm glad it came out as emotional :) Thank you for watching and for all the support you've given me all this while - I really appreciate it
This live version really packs a punch, having to hold back tears once again from your amazing performance, Daj!! You also really nail those soft and powerful notes, and the piece is very smooth, which I really like. Job well done once again!! Keep up the great work and I look forward to more like versions soon!! ~~
Always glad to read your comments, Tyler - thank you :) This style of pieces - with the flowing, interconnected parts and subtle melodies - it's probably the style I'm most comfortable with. :) You know, because my touch is naturally a little gentler than usual, which isn't that great for on-stage performance but works for intimate little tunes like this one. If you know any VGM tracks, even if they're not from Pokemon, with a similar style to this, I'll gladly take those up! ^^ And of course, thank you for watching :)
Guys! N is coming to Pokémon Masters (a mobile game) on the 23rd/24th, and he's going to reunite with Hilda and Hilbert, too! He has zekrom, and an awesome battle theme remix. He's going to be a limited banner scout so y'all should really start playing it and get gems to get him, he's finally returning! I decided I'ma copy and paste this in multiple N related videos so we can get some love for broccoli boy without having to type a lot, hah.
I knew this was a really good track but never realised how beautiful it was until now, that I listen to this. I honestly don't understand why I overlooked it, haha! Great job, Daj! You just keep getting better and better! 👌
hehe, I recorded this one after doing Route 47. ;) So I was conditioned, in a way, to sing the melodic line. ^^ But I'm so glad my little cover opened you up to the beauty of this track! :) Honestly I didn't find it amazing at first, but playing it made me get to appreciate the simplicity, yet clarity of those harmonies. And of course, the purity of that simple melody. So it was quite the experience for me too - glad it spilled over a little :) And thank you, Alfredo, for always being there to support me.
Great job! I think it's really one of the best pieces from gen 5. It's so flowing and melodic, that even though I'm not crazy about E flat major, it doesn't matter to me.
This piece should only be in E-flat major, haha. It's poetic and heroic - as Beethoven called it, "Promethean" (okay that was C minor i believe but still, same idea). And when you tie it in context with the story, which was actually really good in the fifth generation, it's just beautiful. :) So glad you liked this one, thank you for your support :)
...so I'm really interested now. xD I'd love to hear those lyrics! ^^ And um, I'd love to work with you for a vocal-piano collab if you're into those things. It's just so cool that you can write lyrics for tracks that aren't meant to have lyrics - I think the main melody of this one isn't exactly very friendly for the voice too, so I can only imagine how creative you had to be ;) Feel free to send me stuff! I'm pretty interested to know what you've got :)
daj does VGM I'm not so sure about singing, but here's the lyrics anyway :) N's Farewell Guy - Can you see me now In the light of the moon I will never be far from (you) Girl - Do you have to go I don't want you to leave I want you to stay with me Guy - I will be with you don't you cry Just look up to the moon in the sky Girl - How can I go on without you I will never let go I will always love you Guy - Can you see me now In the light of the moon I'll always be here for you Girl - Tell me once more Show me what I'm here for Guy/Girl - There's nothing you can't do (Hope it's easy enough to follow)
+Ash Ketchum So sorry for the late response, but holy shit this is really nice. :) Yes, this melody was definitely made for a couple duet, and I suppose there's not much you can do to the lyrics when that's the case, but you did a fantastic job! ^^ I can see where the syllables fir for the most part, and if you'd like to send me a recording or something I totally wouldn't judge you ;) (Haha jkjk no obligations) I think it's amazing to see that amazing melodies can be transcribed to song even if they weren't made for the voice. And this goes to show the relationship between melodies and our human voice too - we remember the most memorable single-line of music because our voices only sing one line at a time too...and to see you finding so much passion in this track is inspiring. Hope you keep finding tracks that inspire you in such a way for you to sing, hehe! ^^
Wow, the passion you play with is truly incredible. Such a pleasure to watch. It's one thing to play notes in a sequence but what you do is so special, it can't be taught. You can really feel the piece!
A very direct reference to Mother 3's Love Theme. Such a good theme not commonly known in regions other than Japan. I'm glad N's Farewell keeps the Love Theme leitmotif going.
This track is so beautiful and emotional, I haven't played B&W versions, I've listened to the very creepy N's Room but didn't know about this beautiful farewell :)
+Duhemsounds So glad to hear from you man! :) Mm if you haven't played BW, definitely go immerse yourself in the games - they're the best in the series in terms of gameplay and progression, and I think the whole 5th Generation plot is superb. Knowing this piece is cool, but the context of it - that exact moment when it plays - that is magical. Hopefully you'll get to try the games soon, and thank you for watching!~
It would be awesome to have some Switch ports, I have a bad sight I can't play on 3ds even the XL :( I continue to follow the annual movies and the soundtracks / discussions about the new games :)
😭😭 Está canción no es como la otra de N, que a mí parecer es más triste, esta es más como para salir adelante, como un hasta luego, una despedida recordándote... Que hermosa canción y en general todas las canciones de la 5ta generación.
Very late, but what makes Pokémon magical necessarily the Pokémon creatures but it is the story and the development of characters. But most certainly the music!
Ahh, I'm so lucky to have you watching Hazel, thank you so much :,) Yes, this track was made to be played live on a solo piano! ^^ And Bespinben's arrangement works amazingly if you don't mind hitting a few extra bass octaves. I'm surprised they didn't use a solo piano for the in-game version, haha~
Ahh, thank you for watching, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it :) I think one of the most ingenious parts of this track is the melody-writing. No other instrument will play that part better than a piano, even though it's just one line of music - so the only way to understand the melody is to be really observant of the way the piano reacts to every touch. To sing that line no matter what, because only the piano can do that. It's just amazing. And yes, it's a beautifully emotional song for a Pokemon game - possibly the most emotional, yet not over-dramatic track of the whole collection. Got to love it there :,)
I played this arrangement for my music performance GSCE. Wonderful performance, probably tops mine haha. I couldn't play this now though, that performance was well over 2 years ago. Haven't touched the piece since... That said, I do feel like the beginning should be slower. That might just be because that's how I played it, then speed up at measure 17. Your call I guess... Also caught your mistake at 1:24 lol. -But I'll just brush that under the carpet haha...- Almost shed a tear... beautiful!
Oh I wasn't saying to mess with the pulse or anything, on the contrary, definitely establish the pulse. I wasn't suggesting a dramatic tempo change, but a subtle 10 bpm less to begin with might not have disrupted anything too much. I don't remember how much I changed it when I played it...... It can't have been a huge amount... Nevertheless, it was your performance and it was your decision so it doesn't matter that much.
Sadly, I've never played the 5th gen games, but looks like both you and Kageyama did a nice job with this piece of music~ ^^ This really makes me want to play the Unova games...
+Jiho Hwang You must! :D It has the best plot of all the games out there too, hehe. If you're going for music though, I think it's 4 > 3 > 7 > 2 > 5 > 1 > 6, but they're all great
Jiho Hwang Pokémon black was my first Pokémon game and it's my favorite. This games soundtrack is truly magnificent and I highly recommend that you play it.
They're worth a try, they might not be perfect but they certainly have possibly the best written plot in pokemon and some of the most likable characters. Also a massive plus for introducing a villain who such a hatable prick you can't not just love him for it (as in being a genuine villain not some well-intentioned extremist)
Best plot, best villains, the start of better plot for the characters, and the courage of try something really different and not "Kanto, Kanto, Kanto". You could look it like a soft reboot in franchise
And thank you for your support man! :,) Carrying on a long-term project like this channel would be really tough without motivation, and you've been such a great source of motivation for me - so thank you for everything. Doing this cover for you is the least I can do :)

daj does VGM goes without saying, one of my favorite if not my favorite track in pokemon:). I thank you for playing this
It's 2020 and we're in the middle of a pandemic, but this reminds me of simpler, more beautiful times. Keep on playing, we love you!

JOJO Ali no no no NO it's emotion
Lets be real here. Most of the songs involving N in any way is really good.

Some time ago I interpreted that melody and listening to it in your version made me shiver with the emotions it provokes. Thank you!

N's Farewell
Guy - Can you see me now
In the light of the moon
I will never be far from (you)

I don't want you to leave
I want you to stay with me
Guy - I will be with you don't you cry Just look up to the moon in the sky

I will never let go I will always love you

I'll always be here for you

Show me what I'm here for

Thank you for stopping by, always appreciate your comments

i play pokemon games, but didnt play the b/w version, but this song still feels me, this song damn to good.
Been checking out most covers of this on YT, yours is the most accurate, good job! (still some wrong notes here and there though)
Beautiful!
Awesome.

So beautiful 😭
Now I on the beginning of mother 3s love theme
The performance is pretty weird, but good nonetheless
Very good timing and notes were exemplary. Consistent volume too. Very beautiful.
i hope it’s weird in a good way! ^^; thank you for watching

Before the shift from sad to happyish melodies, why did you speed up the tempo slightly?
I'm assuming you're talking about the sudden soft bit towards the end of the first repeat! ^^ Hehe.
You've actually found one of the mistakes I made in this recording. ;) I had to do a really quick shift there to prevent a wrong note, I believe, and because of that the beats came in a little rushed as I was recovering from that. Glad you pointed it out, means you were listening closely ;)
Also pretty cool to listen on 1.25 speed
yoo one day ima play this
Wowww my heart!! Bravo man this is so perfectly done god dammit my heart
😢👍
Why do people call it ‘N’s Farewell’? The official title is just ‘Farewell’. (Source: the official Pokémon Black and White soundtrack on iTunes)
hehe yeah, it is! but this is much nicer for the thumbnail, and since most people already know this as N's Farewell (at least in the arranging community, and because that's the title of Bespinben's well-known sheet of it), I decided to go with that~
Probably because it plays when N is saying his farewells. Just kinda sticks, I guess.
