That was truly helpful, quite digestible and cleared the field for me. Thank you very much for sharing your expertise, sir.
Hope there will be more 5.2 stuff around soon. The year since you published your contribution seems to have done nothing for bigger market share of mid grade consumer 5.2 or even 5.1. I'd like to hve a BT headset with good sound and minimal lag in BOTH directions at last. I am using that Slipstream crap and I'm quite tired of it... Them Corsair folks feed very well on the lack of alternatives, which 5.2 could finally bring.

Thanks Franco. I just ordered the Sennie CX TW; my first pair of wireless buds ever. The videos I watched rave about the fact that they come with 5.2 but none of them say why it's a big deal. I got curious and stumbled across your tutorial. You have the kind of fluidity about it that can only come with expertise.

I still waiting for audio routing options, so I can use 2different brand speakers and designate one L channel and R. I know some brands have links within their own ecosystems but I want my devices settings to be able to also route audio the way I want. Multiple channels and a sub woofer, I can make my own 7.1 surround sound with whatever compatible speakers I have laying around lol. I use iOS for music production and am worried about when Apple axes the usb c and lightning, latency is my enemy, I hope the Bluetooth tech gets fast enough for live music applications. Great video.

My desktop has Bluetooth 5.0 & my previous phone had 4.1. Streaming between these devices had very very low range & up to 10 seconds or more in delay & not the best audio quality. I recently bought a new phone(not just for the bluetooth, a new phone was really needed) & my primary requirement was for it to be 5.2 just because of the capabailities it brings. Now I can easily walk into my kitchen with a somewhat connection, but no delay at all in the stream despite a poor connection. I'll probably buy a bluetooth 5.2 usb adapter & can only imagine I would have absolutely no problem with my connection from anywhere in my apartment to possibly right out to the garbage bin. I use wireless connection for all kinds of things & especially audio, and just upgrading my phone was already a game changer.

You should have mentioned that the benefits of bluetooth 5.2 is only possible if paired with another bluetooth 5.2 device. You're not really getting the full experience if you connect lets say a 5.2 headphones to a 5.1 device. Dunno if they're gonna address that though. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @HawkFest

Thank you very much! Two questions:
1- Can dual audio transmit to two speakers in stereo mode (so that both speaker BT devices work in stereo between each other)?
2- Is the LC3 compression codec a lossless (100% of information retained), or lossy compression?
After searching a bit and testing with gear I've recently acquired... I still wonder when the BT org will actually put their efforts into getting a higher bit rate for a better sound!
LC3 will succeed in sounding better than SBC (old codec from BT 2.0 or 2.1), since it maxes out at 248Kbps for input files.
3rd party LDAC and aptX’s top codecs all work around 24-bit 44.1kHz, but still use what's known as "BT Classic": same rates since BT 2.1, but pushing the bit-rate beyond the standard SBC or AAC by hijacking other non-audio bits for extra data. BT LE would be good for getting lower bit-rate voice transmission, but it doesn't improve on the Hi-Res Audio side (raising the max bit-rate doesn't seem to be important for the BT org). Those heqadphones I've tried tant "accidently" jumped to LE, but then they sound bad. The "improved" version of BT LE doesn't improve anything in that sense (only better power consumption and simultaneuos streaming to multiple devices).
Fraunhofer, the creator of both LC3 and MP3 codecs, also has an 'LC3plus' codec which goes up to 24-bit/192kHz. However, its specs indicate that 24/96 signals would not fit within the practical 1Mbps available even to BT Classic. So LC3plus seems more for streaming music from the web to your device, rather than from your device to your headphones.
