    I was using 32" for 3d modelling and upgraded to 34" ultrawide monitor and i gotta tell this; vertical space is not really good enough (same height of 27" of 16:9 monitors). I had to move my head to look to the sides with ultrawide and if i want to fix that by moving the monitor far away from me; height of the monitor seems not good enough to work with from that far. 3 months later i am switching back to normal 32" monitor and quite happy about it.
    If you still want to use an ultrawide monitor then i recommend you to have a bigger sized one than 34" as video suggests; and have a curved one so you would need less head movement to look at the sides (because of the curve, sides will be closer to your viewing angle). Just be aware, with curved monitors you might have weird bending on straight lines which might be a problem for doing digital art with it.

      Cool mate, I am also working in the 3D industry and was hoping for an answer like that! Essentially I want to move from 2 monitors to only having one. The question I am asking myself is whether a 32“ monitor is fine for having 2 applications opened up next to each other. (Let‘s say you are working with some kind of software and browsing the web)

      @@acrossARTS If you are using 27" monitors for your 2 monitor setup, 34" ultrawide might work for you. About having multi aplications on 16*9 screens, it might feel a bit tight. At the end i think you must try it yourself and decide which is working better for you. Good luck mate.

Most websites and videos are optimized for 16:9 and not 21:9 and while you can put more websites side by side on the 34 you lose quite a lot of vertical space and it just looks odd. If they had a monitor that was the same height as the 32 and ultra wide, then that would work well I think.

    I don't know if I fully agree with the conclusions you drew. Though I appreciate you highlighting the video playback disadvantages for 21:9 monitors. I think productivity and video playback use cases are at odds with each other. 21:9 really does seem great if having multiple windows open simultaneously is something that would be useful. On the other hand, 16:9 monitors are pretty crap for that, necessitating multiple monitors if you must have that aspect ratio and multiple windows open. I'll have to try for myself

After using it for a couple of days, I decided to return the 34", the lack of vertical height was showing up.I found reading or scroll down documents/web pages uncomfortable whereas on the 27inch I could see the whole thing and the layout seems more clear. Vertical height makes a massive difference in my opinion especially for people who do office work, need to read documents, use office/excel etc. I did end up buying a 32" monitor and to me its perfect. The height makes up for the lack of width. And on 32inch split screen is adequate enough

    Games just look so much better in 21:9 and i have a 7900xt so i get at least 120 frames on every game. I honestly believe the next upgrade for me will be the 38 inch 1600p. The best of all worlds. Same verticality as a 32 inch 16:9 but i'll wait until i upgrade the gpu years from now and hopefully by then, we'll have more 38 inch 1600p options. And if we don't get any new 1600p options, then the 39 inch 21:9 at 4k 240hz with a high end GPU will be the end game cream of the crop

      @@erwancah I had a 22” monitor 1920x1080 resolution. I wanted to upgrade to an UltraWide for both work and personal use. The video says to get something bigger than 34” for both the width and height advantages on UltraWides. From where I live, 49” was the next option which was way bigger for me. I settled for the 34” and I’m not too happy with it. The height is not enough for work and doesn’t seem much an upgrade from the 22”. Most of the videos that I watch are 16:9 so there are two black bars on the sides. In the dark, these black bars will have a glow because of backlight bleeding unless you have an expensive OLED monitor. Also gaming consoles (Xbox, PS) do not support widescreen, so I don’t enjoy the full monitor when gaming. I seem to be getting used to these though.

Because of that, I would like to have a monitor that complements the 27-inch display...Which resolution would you recommend for the 27-inch display, and which monitor size and resolution would you recommend as a complementing display for the 27-inch display?

      Hello mate, well if you like the 27 inches, the best combo I can think of, is to get another 27 inches monitor, this way you can align them pretty well. In terms of resolution, I recommend at least 1440p, avoid 1080p if you can.

    • @adrianb.4653
      @adrianb.4653 2 года назад +2

      honestly for people with this question, I'd go with the 48" lg c1 oled if you are able to sit far enough from it or create a custom desk like two desks together. it's cheaper than the 32:9's has better picture quality and more screen real estate vertical as well as same horizontally. because of the perfect blacks of oled you could actually just sit same distance and use only the bottom half of the display that would mirror what a 32:9 woould be. Plus next year they will come out with 42" oled 4k@120hz and low input lag so could even wait for that. the ultrawides are becoming obsolete with the new technology and will be just niche for looks rather than funtionality soon.
