For whoever did the restoration work that was a LOT of work to make correct. AMAZING
Whoever block sanded that gorgeous bus…great job!! Love the sound of that crashbox!!!
Amazing piece of History! Thank you Sir!
I’ve driven a barn door and it’s a totally different experience to driving a regular split bus. Awesome bus , bravo!
Watching from Istanbul, Turkey. Big fan of Ed Hughes's buses. Great to listen all that little details and precious know how. Thanks for sharing.
Watching from the UK, love it ! So good to see such an early bus saved.
No rear window and tiny little mirrors, crash box trans and 25hp engine.....Gotta be a pleasure to drive.
I believe they topped out at around 40 mph. Wooohoooo
That is gorgeous! I have a 1960 double door panel bus l purchased in Albuquerque from its original owner. He ran a television repair shop in town way back when. This bus is very original, having its original engine and transmission (numbers matching). It even still sits on the same set of tubed Continental tires it left the factory on! Being a southwest vehicle, it has no rust on it at all, and was running when l parked it in a metal pole barn in 1998. I might just have to bring her back out after seeing this story!
Start driving it!
@@jamesbosworth4191 She is back on the road now. Even taken her to a few local car shows.
OMG...what a beautiful Bus!!! Thanks for sharing!
Saw this bad boy at the OCTO, its awesome.
This is just Beautiful. I don’t know weather to cry smile be jealous lol. But man this is amazing. Thanks for showing us this. History
Sure was cool seeing this bus on the cover of Hot Vw's this month! But a video of it with the owner is the cherry on top! Thanks!!!
Fun to see this one, then compare it to the Sudfunk panel. I love the sound of those straight-cut RGB's and non-synchro gears!
@@corey6393 Definitely! When I saw this in the magazine, I thought those logo's were stickers. They are handpainted!!! That is a true artist that replicated those!
I love the straight cut gear sound too...but I think after 2 blocks, I'd be over it. LOL
I could watch this all day!! Such a clean job, top to bottom! Ahhhhhh!
What a beauty. Wonderful save
Taking cool to a new level.
Damn that thing's a work of art..
Listings to the split case trans German engineering at it finest nice barn door

Holy sheep s*** I got to get my 53 single cab on the road oh my effing God old Eddie Hughes I knew that guy back in '87

I think it's awesome you put a Pete Jackson gear drive in it.
This is a thing of beauty!
Nice video. Great bus
Just Incredible restoration!! Well done sir!!
WOW! She is beautiful! Totally mint.
Great video " excellent job on restoration and history of this work of art VW Bus . When I was a kid my dad had a 1966 VW Bus at the same time he had a 67 Chevy Corvair convertible . Keep the video's coming .
Thanks Eddy
Friends came to tasmania with a 50-51 model crammed with possessions from Germany, it didn't last that long , it was cut up vw wasn't imported till 54 in Australia
So cool! It's nice to see this guy actually driving it too, rather than just letting it sit in a garage. Nice video!
Edit: Does he know his rear tail lights aren't working? around the :20 mark
how do you know? these are just taillights, not brakelights or blinkers. brakelight is in the middle.
@@uliwehner True - I don't know if they serve as brake lights or not. I made the assumption but I could very well be wrong. If I am, then I learned something new today with these really old buses. I knew about the brake light in the middle but assumed the rear taillights also served as brake lights, but again, I could be wrong. I'm always open to learning about the really old ones like this, so if you're correct then, my apologies. I just love these old buses & love to learn about them. I have a bay window but will someday own a split! Have a great day!
My June of '58 bus is the oldest farthest North splitty in the world. Drive her year-round down to -10F. Buses are great!
Absolutely stunning bus!
Imagine how big the emblem would be
Amazing Car! 👍✌️
Schön Auto!
It has a total crash box trans . It must be worth a lot of bucks .
ED!!! 5🔥 💪
Opa blz komb muita linda bacana tenho uma 1967 também valeu
Furgão VW 😁😁😁
Crashbox is singing alone....
Great job on the car. I really enjoyed all the details .. Too bad that ( due to new standards ) the paintjob became too “ fat” it’s should have been a bit more rough and matte.
August of 1950, wouldn't that be a 1951? I have a 1968 which has an August 1967 manufacture date.
VW started the Year model (aug-july period) from 1955 model.
VW❤🇩🇰😉
I hope you are double-clutching.

WOW GOOD ONE ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
The vw bus had more horsepower
Radium was part of the whole free energy trip they had stoves that were called radium stoves and somehow they were like a self perpetuating free energy out of The Ether something that we've hardly fallen from and now we got to pay the power companies what an effing joke
Amazingly this Radium light bulb company in Germany still in business.
Well its not free
Where's the back bumper? The last thing you would wantna happen is to have somebody real in you...
Early Bus didn't have a rear bumper.
I would try to fabricate one, just for protection.
