First of all I love his accent! Two, I’m doing a project on elements of Swiss healthcare (retired, children and unemployed). Amazing to see how organized they are and how the cantons work. One day I will go to Switzerland!

Great content, thanks! I was trying to understand the differences between contributing to 3a through a bank or an insurance company and this video solved all my doubts.

Hello. Great video. Thanks. You talk about the tax advantages at the time of contributing to your Pillar 3a, but do we have to pay tax when we access the funds at 65 years old? If so, what is the tax rate please? Thanks.

Hello Sonia. When withdrawing the funds, taxes are due at a reduced rate. The tariff depends on the amount, place of residence, marital status and religion. It is therefore advisable to open several 3rd pillar accounts, which you can then withdraw in stages (possible from 5 years before regular retirement), thus reducing the progressive tax rate.

Can the contributions in the 3rd pillar be invested?

Yes, the money can be invested. Ask your bank or if they don't help you, contact me via email (gbc.business@bluewin.ch).

    • @gtsstang

1st pillar (AHV): 5,15%, 2nd pillar (Pensionfund): 7% - 18% depending on age and insurance plan, 3rd pillar: You decide how much you pay up to the maximum of CHF 6'826.-.
