Back around 1978 I practically lived in the Druther's in LaGrange. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a lot of days. I loved their fried chicken, and as I recall, that particular Druther's included a salad bar at lunchtime that included chicken livers. Good eatin' no matter what time of day you wound up there. And yes, it was the morning hang out spot for some of the more colorful locals who would have breakfast, then linger over their coffee while discussing all the important issues of the day. That’s so cool for sure. I can’t believe that one store is left. One of my very first jobs was at Druther’s/ Burger Queen in Winchester, KY. We now have Applebees at the spot it used to be. I would rather have Druther’s, showing my age I guess. A trip down memory lane, thank you.

I have missed Druthers for years. And I remember burger queen. Loved these places. They used to have cheeseburgers and they used to have potato wedges in Shepherdsville location and it was delicious. I didn't know there was one in Campbellville. Yum!! I'm so jealous.
Your shirt reminds me of the old Jerry’s restaurant across the street from Rutherford elementary school in the south end of Louisville also. There’s a Walgreens in that spot now. I think that’s the intersection between southland blvd and old 3rd st. I used to live in Louisville but, moved to Bloomfield,Ky.
I'm from Danville (Live in GA now) and Remember having to go all the way to Campbellsville to get Druther's when Dairy Queen moved in. In my opinion cherish it while it last because they are a true icon. I also miss Long John's, Taco Tico and White Castle.

Grew up on druthers in mt Washington the delivering furniture for Ashley furniture ran across the druthers in campbellsville I was like Iam seeing things no way there was one left after I told everybody that was one left it was the route to get because you had to stop three two Royal burgers and potatoes wedgesgoid stuff and brought back memories as a kid
My father either owned or ran multiple Druthers in Hardinsburg, Lebanon, Portland and Jeffersontown KY. The Hardinsburg location was originally a Burger queen and I had my fifth birthday party with Queenie Bee. My mom still has glass coffee cups and and 32oz paper cups from Druthers. Best potato wedges and sausage biscuit gravy there ever was. Andy Dandytale rocked and the fried chicken was hole raw chickens cut up and made homemade early early in the morning along with the biscuits.
When I was a kid in the 80’s we had a Druthers that had a buffet I believe. My mom always said that she would druther go somewhere else lol. That Druthers looks really good!
So the Arby's in Fern Creek currently used to be a Burger Queen/Druthers. They haven't changed the building at all from the Druthers days. I remember when Druthers didn't just have a salad bar. They also had a fried things bar (onion rings and fish, I recall). If you're looking for day trip restaurant recommendations, try driving west on I-64 and stopping at Schwartz Family Restaurant off exit 79. All you can eat (Amish recipes) or Meat & 2. No burgers for the kids though. A high school baseball team came in while we were there and absolutely pillaged the buffet. One caveat: the all you can eat buffet is cafeteria style (except for the salad bar). You can make multiple trips but the workers dish out the food. The German fried potatoes are amazing. as is the butterscotch pie.
I lived down the street from a Burger Queen/Druthers too. Their potato wedges were my favorite. A friend of mine worked in the Druthers IT department. He said their test kitchen was in the same building, so they would be drafted as taste testers for new products.

What nostalgia. I remember the Burger Queen in Somerset Kentucky. It was a big deal for our family to stop and eat there after Sunday church. And they were so good. Course we also had a great Dairy Queen in Somerset back in the day. Why can't you find butter pecans sundaes like they used to make? Anyway, nice to see your family wish I could have seen your mom but I know you definitely look like your dad!

They had them last year when we went. Checked on the building sign. It's down for touch ups while the roof is being redone. Scared me!

I seem to remember Burger Queen giving out little suckers that were honey flavored and the stick was a loop, rather than straight. Our local one became a Druthers and besides Andy Dandytail I remember they served fried okra.

I’m going to recommend a couple of places 1 is here in Columbia called Hooligan burger it’s awesome, and I’m not sure how far you travel but in Tompkinsville Kentucky there’s a bbq place called R&S it’s delicious 🤤

@@goodallscountrykitchen I live in Columbia, Sulfur well is on 68/80 I believe in Edmonton/metcalfe if I’m thinking correctly you have to have a reservation for lighthouse i have been wanting to try it out. I’m going to recommend a couple of places 1 is here in Columbia called Hooligan burger it’s awesome, and I’m not sure how far you travel but in Tompkinsville Kentucky there’s a bbq place called R&S it’s delicious 🤤
@@Guitarpicker7919 thanks for the recommendations. If and when I get to Light House I’ll be sure and hit the daily double and go to Hooligan Burger. Love that name. I was supposed to do the Druther’s review with four football players from Lindsey Wilson but they flaked out on me. My parents came along and we had a good time anyway. I’ll hit the bbq joint if I get to thompkinsville.

Went there last weekend and there was a roach in the men's bathroom and my sons scrambled eggs had most of an egg shell mixed into it.... won't ever go back.

There is one or two Clancy's restaurants left in the Dayton Ohio area you might want to look at. If you remember that chain, it was really good back in the day. And there is a Rax roast beef in Harlan Ky.

I lived in Douglass Hill's Estates if you know where that is. I think it is technically within J-Town's borders/ zip code but always considered Middletown home.
