go to John Rogers channel and watch the London Perambulator, it isn't about Will but the guy who does a lot of research for Will in his writing and inspiration for Will. It is worth the effort.
Solvitur ambulando. Montaigne to Guy Debord, walking was a free stimulant to induce the mind to move. A flaneur is a little less clinically involved in psycho-geography.
'There is no greater madness than the present organisation of life'. Am I crazy, or is it merely the very insanity that everyone surrounding me accepts as normal that makes me appear insane?
I heard about psychogeography thanks to Arthur Machen, who precedes the situationists. (I think that he concept differs somewhat from the situationists' one, though.)

the ambassador hotel interesting DNA evidence destroyed RE Robert Kennedy fell into decline / closed in 1989 "On September 10, 2005, a final public auction was held for the remaining hotel fittings and work soon began on demolition of the Ambassador Hotel. On January 16, 2006, the last section of the Ambassador fell" wiki
I remember clearly when I first came to the LA area in 1994 or so, walking by the Ambassador. It was abandoned, gates were sealed shut, (though you could look in through them) overgrown with vines and weeds . It had all the appearance and feeling of a haunted house.
Self's 'psychogeographical' books are absolute rubbish. Bandwagon-jumping at its most immodest. It's so irritating, the way that this guy has hitched a ride on the 'walking genre'. Go to the source - Iain Sinclair.
@@fernandopessoa7077 Hi Fernando, you're wrong, I have read your comment. Yes, Sinclair is hard work - his novels are terrible, but his top psychgeographical books are worth persevering with, and need reading more than once. I found Self's first book unreadable, and his ideas second rate. 'The Book of Dave was good, I thought, even if it is heavily indebted to Riddley Wa;lker, but I found it instructive that much of the leg work was apparently undertaken by.Nick Papadimitriou. I think John Rogers' work is refreshingly unpretentious though - hope you agree.
@Trevor Barre Thanks for the reply, I find Will Self’s fiction hard work but often go back to the two collections mentioned above; I struggled through the first 50 pages of his memoir until suddenly I ‘got it’ and enjoyed it hugely. Fun fact: I walked to JFK from Manhattan in 1994. In December. At night. Drunk. Beat that with a stick, Will Self. Even though you’ll never read this…
and by the way Will
you don't have to smoke in Los Angeles
just breathe the air in deep
it's about the same

Thank you
this is very interesting. Any chance of uploading the full film?

Trevor Barre i've heard Iain Sinclair is a great writer, what do you recommend?
I would really recommend Lights Out For The Territory and London Orbital. Then Hackney, the Rose Red Empire.
Iain Sinclair is hard work, Will Self’s Psychogeography & Psychogeography Too are top notch so there 😛. Even though you’ll never read this……
