Why was the locomotive running backwards at the beginning of the video?

1:41 When a train reaches the end of the line, the loco runs around the train to the other end to pull it back down the line, usually going backwards. There might not be a turntable for the big tender engine to turn 'round so they have no choice but to run around and pull the train back
It's either taking the train on a return trip or taking out the coaches for the day's work or probably for something else. Could be either one of those reasons
