  • Let's learn one of the most popular traveling steps in oriental dance - Chasse step. I'm going to offer you my variations of this move, that you can easily incorporate in your improvisation or choreography.
This short tutorial is a snippet from my course "My Dance Breakthrough". “My dance breakthrough” is a fundamental course for intermediate and advanced dancers as well as for teachers of Oriental dance that is aimed to enrich your dance vocabulary, master your technique and deepen your understanding of Oriental dance and culture.
It includes 48 tutorials, 20−30 minutes length each, that cover different aspects of oriental dance: technique, a large variety of steps and moves, combos and choreographies, rhythms, musicality, history of oriental dance and much more.

Very clear and useful for chasse steps! May I ask if the shimmy is hip shimmy? Or Egyptian knee shimmy? They look like hip shimmy to me, which is very difficult to achieve the tempo you illustrated.

Thank you! Yes it’s a small hip shimmy (I would even define it as glute shimmy). Knees shimmy will not work here as you need to straighten your knees and it’s hard to keep on performing chassè with straight legs.
