If you get this 5g/cell certified and can make calls, texts, and run signal, then you have a HUGE market disruptor! Linux based, repairable, privacy oriented phones.
I don't think this really disrupts the market though. It's cool but what market does this disrupt? Definitely not the mobile market. Very cool looking product though.
@@farhanhubble they can easily make this via either SIM modules or UBLOX modules, very easy to integrate those. But pretty much everything Cell related is proprietary so idk about privacy.

@josephdipietro8937 arguably yes. But much more open, repairable and versatile. I saw a price of 159 in the comments. Which is not that expensive in my opinion
While I'm almost definitely going to pick one up as-is, a variant with a 4g or 5g modem (especially if we could have call/sms support) would be something I would go absolutely nuts for

This is the new wave and future of mobile devices, handheld form factor… I’m expecting great things from this company and look forward to their products when it’s finished and ready for launch ❤🎉👌
Hello @Mecha. Here are some simple, free ideas that can make this product better and more modern: 1. Smaller Display Bezels: Take a look at modern retro gaming consoles like the Miyoo Mini or Trimui Brick for inspiration. 2. Design Improvements: The design could use some refinement. Consider using premium materials like those in the Trimui Brick or Analogue Pocket (and note that the Trimui Brick is priced at just $60). 3. Make It More Geeky/Hacker-Friendly: Look at Flipper Zero and borrow some of the best ideas from there. Features like an NFC tag reader/writer, scanner, WiFi/Zigbee/radio/BT/BLE sniffer, and more could make it significantly more useful as an everyday carry (EDC) device. 4. Modular Add-On System: Add a modular system on the top for extensions. Think sniffers, additional ports, or even something as simple as a scroll wheel button. (not only for HID things).
Cool device. I love that the terminal is a shortcut. I can see myself writing my own scripts to display my own widgets. If you ever support cellular service, I’ll replace my phone with this.
They said the internals are more than enough to run DOOM classic. I'd love to put me some pinball and a space shooter in there as well while writing an ISO to USB on the go.
Incredible! Would insetting the modules be possible? I’d be worried about the modules coming off when going in and out of pocket since it looks like it’s held magnetically
This looks fantastic only thing I would want is to ditch keyboard and go for full-screen and then it can replace many smartphones (I know there are other use cases but this should be the one which will sell most). It doesnt need to have the latest greatest hardware just one or two usb-c port because dongle make sense for a compcat device like this
I see so many good ideas (and no bad ones yet, of course you can‘t please everybody)….BUT: I couldn‘t find specs on the screen - anybody knows ? Website states only 3.2“ IPS - no res.

Truth
Wonder if there are any third party cellular boards that are pre-1:00 certified?
Also add that the battery life has to be decent. A day would be nice.

It's not a phone. No built in GSM/LTE functionality in this model.
Although right now these model don't support but they will release lte support one in future

That QWERTY keyboard is a must have!
Really wish it had a full screen in the front and modular connector on the back instead. I wonder if it can be modded that way
Goes probably a bit far. Doubt the pogo pins etc. Are modular (even with all the other stuff being user replacable).
