  • We have over 4,000 volunteers throughout the UK who regularly dedicate their time to the Stroke Association. Without their hard work and dedication, we would not be able to support as many people affected by stroke. This award is for an individual who has made an invaluable contribution to the stroke community as a volunteer.
Sarah had a severe stroke at school in 2009, when she was 18. She spent five months in hospital and rehabilitation.
During her recovery, Sarah set up a communication group in Welwyn Garden City with a small donation from the Stroke Association. She organises all the activities and outings for the group.
Sarah goes into local schools in Hertfordshire as a volunteer to raise awareness about the impact of stroke and speaks at many events on behalf of the Stroke Association.

Extremely proud to be able to say Sarah & I were online friends for many years. This is a lovely video, and it's great to see others recognising Sarah's caring character as well.

Wow, what a dramatic improvement. Look at earlier videos to see how far she's come. I guess her youth helped her rebound.
