Great video and I love your work, I've been watching it for years by now. One thing that I'd like to point out though is that saying Stalin was authoritarian is literally repeating fascist propaganda without any factual evidence. Most of the documents suggest that USSR Stalin era followed democratic centralism to a teeth + he wanted to step down as secretary general many times, but was outvoted to stay. As leftists it's important to stay true to historical events even though most westerners believe that Stalin is an authoritarian monster by now.
The Great Purge - the persecution and mass murder of hundreds of thousands of political opponents (mainly trotzkyists) - as well as the Gulag forced labor camps seem kind of authoritarian, if not totalitarian to me. Also, the invasion of other countries by the Soviet Union before Operation Barbarossa cannot be justified in my opinion. I get that the USSR had to sign a non-aggression pact with Germany in order to industrialize and prepare for the German invasion, but that is a poor excuse for invading Poland, Finland, the baltic states and Bessarabia. Don't get me wrong, the Soviet Union was the most valuable ally in defeating the Nazis and also the ally who suffered the most. The USSR was definitely not fascist, but specifically under Stalin it was totalitarian and acted imperialist. In my opinion, Stalin cannot be a role model for leftists.
@@tankiegirl You could say the same about the Nazi concentration camps, but they're rightly viewed as tools of political repression and of the Holocaust. It all depends on the incarceration conditions and who is imprisoned. For example, the privatized prison-industrial complex in the US is a capitalist dystopian nightmare, while the Skandinavian prison system that focuses on rehabilitation and has more humane onditions is a lot more justified in my opinion. Coming back to the Gulags, the prison conditions were very harsh with extreme climate and insufficient food and healthcare, leading to high mortality rates. Furthermore, the prisoners weren't only common criminals but also political opponents, often themselves socialists but with different vision for the Soviet Union. These characteristics make the Gulags totalitarian.

I heard from Ian Neves of Historia Publica: "Fascism is the emergency button of capitalism" and I can't think of a more appropriate comparison.
Except Fascism had nothing to do with Capitalism whatsoever and as a socialist ideology, it strictly opposed it.

You have history in your nickname but seem to know remarkably little about the history of fascism. You probably just read somewhere that Mussolini was part of the Socialist Party early in his "career" and then proceeded to completely ignore the rest of the history of how fascism was born and came to power.
If anything, Mussolini claimed that fascism was a "third way" between capitalism and socialism, it just happened to be a third way that consistently aligned with capitalists' interests.

The fact that some capitalists and entrepreneurs, faced with the alternative of Marxism or Fascism, chose the latter, does not require any further explanation. They preferred to live as shop managers than to be "liquidated" as "bourgeois" by Marxists. Capitalists don't like to be killed any more than other people do.

"Build the wall, señor." Juan Gonzalez of Keene, TX, sadly.
I think these people desire to not feel so powerless so they wish for the time where there was always a person they would have power over, a person that had it worse. A slave for example. They don't understand that the hole they feel in their heart will not be filled that way and that even those who have it worse, have true love and morality. Wishing for someone to be underneath you is just showing that you don't feel equal to the people around you.

When the left gets too radical, we need to implement a little bit of fascism to balance things" (and consider Lula is a liberal centrist, he's far from being real left. brilliant video
Thinking it’s Karl Marx’s fault for fascism it hilarious
He’s literally the father of Marxism, the most popular, fascist belief system known to man. Maybe not the originator, but definitely suspect.
I think the question should be
Since the US is heading toward fascism, what can we do about it?
I’d say it’s not just the Us it’s happening in European countries too
I think that for us, a person, a party, an army, or a school, if it's not opposed by the enemy, it must be complicit with the enemy. It would be nice if we were opposed by the enemy, which proves that we have drawn a clear line with the enemy. It would be better if the enemy vigorously opposed us and made us look as if we were nothing at all. That would prove that we had not only drawn the line with the enemy, but that our work had been very fruitful.--Mao Zedong
Quick answer: It always has. It's the USA. Look at who we got in charge of making these laws and what marches they support.

I remember being in 3rd grade and getting a book on planes in ww2 from the library. There was a neat symbol on one of the planes and I started drawing it. My teacher pulled me aside later that day and asked me why I was drawing it and where I saw it. She told me not to draw it anymore that it means something bad. It was a swastika.
Personally I think its because we're finally starting to make genuine progress in societal injustice (keyword starting), and nothing scares certain people more than progress. Hopefully the march of progress is immovable

Yes
@@internalizedhappyness9774Umm, ackshually. Water itself is not wet, but it has the ability to make other things wet. When something is wet, it means it has been in contact with water, causing its surface to become damp or covered with liquid. Since water is a liquid, it can adhere to surfaces and make them wet, but water molecules themselves do not possess the property of being wet.🤓☝️

@@JimmyCrow-fz6yf Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Wrong. There is no such thing as "late stage capitalism" in the first place and Fascism was a socialist ideology, which strictly opposed Capitalism.

Why is this happening, did they forget about World War II? Did that not exist? Everyone deserves a chance to work and live no matter the race and it’s not fair to non-whites that they get the finger pointed at for just living their lives and working hard just like everyone else. They work hard just as much as you so why should they be punished for doing what they’re told? The thing is that they always have to find a scapegoat, someone to target, someone to blame for all their problems instead of just dealing with it and figuring a way to solve it. Quick to anger and violence rather than diplomacy. The pen is mightier than the sword but in their mind, the pen doesn’t exist, it’s all big talk and destruction rather than cooperation. I understand that they work hard, but there is injustice to the other comrades that work hard alongside to point the finger at for hate all because of capitalist competition and greed.
