    Mate..any engineer who attempts this is a legend in my eyes and any any owner who decides this is the best way forward rather than a more efficient replacement is deluded.
    I'm sure labour cost plus parts isn't far off a more suitable replacement.
    Allied to the worse part of the job .... getting the system balanced and operating efficiently.
    Well done, brilliant upload and look forward to some more real world content

      Thank you mate, I completely agree and if it wasn’t part of the customers insurance I wouldn’t attempt it, was a proper pain! Thanks for watching

      The customers insurance are idiots If they think doing this is cost effective 😂. Fair play mate 👍🏻.

    These boilers had 2 great features the 1st being the flow switch so did not need pump over run but the 2nd feature was the best it was light so easy to throw straight into a skip.

    I've replaced around 20 or so. One of the first things I do is open the drain tap on the manifold and use a 1/2" hose. It stays in place behind the PCB.
    I find if using a smaller U-guage hose water can run from the thread, down the outside. I also use LSX (swear word I know) on the drain manifold, like you say that red seal isn't too clever and the way I see it it'll last until the boilers replaced.
    The worse ones I've replaced are when the return tappings are so tight you find yourself hanging off a pair of steelsons and using 2 blow lamps on it.
    I've not replaced many recently as in most cases it's more cost effective to replace the boiler. Last quote I had was for over 500 plus.
    Great content keep them coming 😊

    Got one of these in my house, it's a pig so nice vid. Changed a few of them flow sensors, there is no easy way, tight and tough to get out, use a mini bahco socket set. Snapped one once trying to get it out, thankfully managed to pull the rest out.

    Like the honesty of the video. I was told my Promax SL had a leaky heat exchanger but on further inspection it looks to be weeping from the manifold. In your experience is this a straightforward thing to change? Been warned about bolt being fused to the exchanger so impossible to remove without snapping. Whilst I understand it's not the best boiler, it would be a shame to ditch it for the cost of a gasket...

    Just been to one requiring a new fan, it had a water around the bottom of the casing which I assumed was the condense and now it’s struck me the heat exchangers leak. 😳

    On a combi boiler can you replace heat exchanger with touching the return and flow valves as they are prone to leaking. Is there a way to create a vacuum if yes how so 🤔

    • @snapgas9832
      @snapgas9832  Год назад +1

      Hi mate, there’s not a way you can create a vacuum on a combi system but sometimes they will airlock to allow you to work on it with minimal draining
      My honest opinion if your worried about the valves then just drain the from the boiler until it stops

    • @b1h2u3p4
      @b1h2u3p4 Год назад

      @@snapgas9832 yeah must be airlock technique but like you said better to do proper way.

    Hi
    Just a quick question
    Is it safe to use artificially softened water with this boiler?
    Also is Corgi inhibitor compatible with softened water?
    Cheers
