All the time that our children were growing up we would make the trip from the Midwest to the east coast. Those welcome centers/rest stops were a life saver; we would unpack our coolers and have a picnic lunch while the kids ran around and around to expend all of their built up energy! It was cheaper to eat that way, the kids enjoyed it and most of the “facilities” were kept clean, lol!
Adam, it’s been an absolute delight watching you travel all of my state or North Carolina. You visited my hometown of Mount Airy and stayed in my current city of Greensboro; this has been one of your best runs! Rest up, you’ve earned it!
I live in GSO and hoped Adam would visit our science center or the zoo! We had our worst weather while he was here, though! Glad he spent so much time in NC!

Funny that when you mentioned the picnicing at rest stops. Back in the 70's, when I was a kid it was a six hour drive to see my grandmother. My mom would pack a picnic lunch and we would stop at a rest stop about halfway and eat. Guessing it's easier to pull off the highway and hit a fast food place these days.

A lady nomad I follow on YT used to stay at rest stops and loved all those gazebos with picnic tables. She’s stationary now but yeah it’s a rarity! I’ve really enjoyed all your road trip videos so far this year, but I’m glad for you that you’re homeward bound! 😀
