This is the best sort of tutorial IMO, as a complete newbie to Fusion 360, and well worth 7 minutes. The guide is clear and easy to follow, and you deliver exactly what you claim to in the title. But on top of that, you've also seamlessly and efficiently introduced me into a whole bunch of things that I'm no doubt going to find hugely useful in the future - the benefits of using parameters, sketch constraints, hell, even the relationship between sketches and the Solid workspace was something that I wasn't sure about until this video. Thanks a tonne!

Thanks so much! I wanted to print myself a coaster, so I looked up designs for inspiration and I saw one with a honeycomb pattern, but I didn't even know where to start! This tutorial was perfect, and I feel like I learned several things that I can continue using for other designs. My computer isn't very good, so I used the rectangular pattern on a single axis to make a trip, then used the rectangular pattern again to repeat the strips, as the pattern would fail if I tried doing both axis's at once.
that worked really well. would love to see it the other way round. cutting a honeycomb out of something. coudn't quite make it with the tools you offered

Under preferences you can turn off "auto hide sketches" (click you icon top right and open preferences, look under General - Design). And yo can always turn the visibility on/off using the eye icon next to the sketch in the browser.
this must be out of date because those options are not showing up for me. Following step by step, what is happening in the video is not happening in fusion.
What steps are causing you trouble? It works for me. Are using Solid (blue) extrude and not Surface? Are you having problems with the pattern? (check that you are pattering "Feature")
that may be more "complex" but it sure is way easier to work with. dont like the look? just change the param. and your done. Way easier in my oppinion. Thank you sir!
Fusion is a bit confusing on how it "auto fills" in values in input boxes. I can have done the workflow before the video and Fusion will pick up some of my old inputs.

Only hexagons on a sphere is hard or needs to be "deformed". A dodecahedron geodesic sphere/dome is a possibility :) that is pentagons in "corners" and hexagons.
Have look at another workflow here ruclips.net/video/r28Tpy0PIQM/видео.html . But if you are 3D printing adding more perimeters (hexagons) to the print can add weight, do 2 models and compare the print time an material used.
@@LULASVC I had it set to features as well but it was still just removing parts that the outer circle actually touched. I solved it by first selecting the whole pattern and joining it into a single body.

I'll have a look. There is a bug (in the latest version) that can sometimes trigger with patterns. You can make a try with other dimensions and see if it works.
@@KristianLaholm i got it worki g in some point, but when i tried with other dimensions it broke and could repeat it again, but then i modified again, and never could reproduce again. One of the problems I had was that when I was picking the two axes, I only could select one, the second one was impossible to select
I redid the exercise and everything works with your parameters However when we change the value of Hexagon to 4mm then the honeycomb is no longer connected to the outer part I solved this problem by increasing the number of rectangular pattern

This video was so valuable! I made some divider cards for my MTG deck boxes and wanted to save filament. The honeycomb pattern worked perfectly!

7:11... The 2nd Extrude (to object) did not work for me until I filled in the "wall/2".

When you did the interesct, how did you make it so it "removed" the unnecessary things around the circle?
That is the function of intersect, everything inside the profile I'm extruding with intersect will be left everything outside gets removed.
@@KristianLaholm I did intersect but the bodies ouside the circle was not deleted. What can I be doing wrong?
@@LULASVC Check that the second extrude (3:30 in video) is set to Join. You should have only 1 body before making the intersect extrude.
@@KristianLaholm I figured out that I was doing wrong , the rectangular pattern should be Features and I was using bodies, Now it worked, thanks.

You can make the quantity parametric in the pattern feature.
How do i make this but invcerted.
so i have a lot of pillars with space in between them.
If you want multiple bodies sketch one hexagon, extrude and pattern (be prepared that Fusion will slow down). Or am i misunderstanding the question?

I think it's possible to get exact number of pattern iteration by dividing circle diameter with hegaon size and using ceil function to got integer.
