- "Since You Been Gone" is the title of a rock song written and recorded by former Argent guitarist, Russ Ballard, and first released on his 1976 album, Winning.
"Since You Been Gone"- Rainbow's 1979 hit version from the song is from the album Down to Earth, released in 1979. Rainbow's cover version featuring lead singer, Graham Bonnet, was a Top 10 single in the United Kingdom and was named the 82nd best hard rock song of all time by VH1. Rainbow (also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow) were a British hard rock band formed in California, controlled by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore from 1975 to 1984 and 1994 to 1997. They were originally established with American rock band Elf's members, though over the years Rainbow went through many line-up changes with no two studio albums featuring the same line-up. In addition to lead singers Ronnie James Dio, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner and Doogie White, the project consisted of numerous backing musicians. The band started out combining mystical lyric themes with neo-classical metal, but went in a more streamlined commercial style following Dio's departure from the group. Rainbow were ranked No. 90 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The band has sold over 28 million albums worldwide and 4 million albums in the United States. - Видеоклипы
I should be allowed to like this more than once,
Your comment was liked 72 TIMES!
@@marcse7en 76 now! And I agree with them. We should be allowed to like at least 50 times! 😊
Don't we all want to hear our songs with the feeling we first heard it?
@@bold810 I'm pretty sure that only happens once..
Every night
Glad to know I'm not the only one in 2024 reminiscing.....
Got your 6, reminisce, yes, but when music was right, damn still good.
Still listening in 2024!
This one hits high on my list of all-time favorites.
This is one of those songs everbody (with common sense) loves. I'm a 57 year old white guy. I heard Blondie while getting gas a couple weeks ago. Great stuff. And I'm a Beatles, Chuck Berry, Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Kiss, Queen, Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, The Carpenters, etc.................
And I'm sure also Thin Lizzy!😉
Still rocking out to this tune in June 2020 in these troubled times. Long live Classic Rock!
I'm going to be 40 years old in July I still listen to these songs everyday
👍🏻🍾🍾🥂
@@timculhane625 53 and still rockin out
What..a..tune...
Amen brother! Amen!
Graham’s voice is the reason why we like this song. He makes this song better than it actually is. It lends grit to what is basically a standard rock song.
Ritchie also?
BONNEEEEEEEEEEEEET ❤❤❤
Best lead singer this band ever had, perfect voice
Its just unfathomable how good and fashionable Graham Bonnet looks here. Also, Cozy Powell on the drums, what a beast. Love this line up.
He has sung this song with other bands but none of them can compete with Rainbow's version.
Man, Graham Bonett can sing!! Totally underrated!!
Honestly, he can give Dio a run for his money. He could do the hard edge but could do a soft bridge in there as well. More versatile in my opinion.
THIS WAS IN GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG I WAS SO HAPPY TO HEAR IT.
Great movie needs good songs! 😎 🎶

@@razalihusain I first came across this song 4 years ago as I am a music student.
2024 and still lovin this!
Graham Bonnet quite possibly has the quintessential rock singer voice.
He sang this song from the heart.. love this song ❤️
I love that they can harmonize while still sounding hard
I hate today's so called music. I always go back to this . 61 years old and still moves me . Thanks fellas 😁
I hear ya!
Me too..love this time...
72 y. o. - the same
Russ Ballard has been nominated for a 2024 GRAMMY for writing this song...Well deserved.
No one did rock harmonies better than Graham Bonnet and Rainbow.
Bonnett should’ve been a superstar with that voice and image.
The one that got away😢
I would go so far as to say that that image is what held him back. We're taking the seventies here. Short haired, smart casually attired rock band frontmen, was most definitely NOT generally considered a cool look.
Not to mention he was not an easy person to work with
Robert. Did not know about his mood
I'm 58 years old/Young and I'm very thankful to be part of a chosen generation that was blessed and privileged to hear what music actually sounds like when placed into the right hands!
I thank Rainbow and all the bands they gave of their time and their talent for all of us for all these years!
Please share this music with the younger generations so that they won't miss out on what music actually sounds like!
As we've always said turn it up and rock and roll!
Thank you!!
Thank you too!
I'm 58 tomorrow and finding this is a perfect gift 🎁. Thank you. 👏
@@rw8733 Happy Birthday! 🎂
I agree, I'm 64, and I feel blessed that I grew up listening to the very best. From the Beatles,Stones. All the great rock bands ,from Zepplin to Sabbath. AC/DC,Too many to mention. Not forgetting prog rock, especially Yes. Throw in Motown ,Slade, and Bowie.
@@chrisstevens8505 Similar music taste on the rock side. 👍 (Well, we're all almost the same age, I'll be 60 in a month) 😎
Graham Bonnet one of the great vocalist of all time.
And yet another great song from an era of GREAT bands, old muscle cars and REAL freedom. Damn do I miss that time......
Heyyy rock n rollers who’s listening in 2024! ?!!!
Right phuckin here brother 🙌
Loads of us! Don’t underestimate the power of good music!
Best wishes 👍
❤
At times during this beauty I hear Freddy Mercury and realize no, it's Graham Bonnet!!! Fantastic song and never gets old.
Both fantastic singers,Graham was up there as a Rock singer,he must have done his voice in after every session
Glad the new generation get to appreciate this song and discover an awesome group
polydor 7" vinyl here.
Das ist echte Musik!! Ich liebe Graham Bonnet und seine tolle Stimme! ❤
Hard to believe when I was growing up this was heavy metal
I thought this one was always classed as hard rock. And the original by Russ Ballard was even softer.
Grahm Bonnet is one of the greatest and most underrated singers in rock history.
Thank you for your comment! 😎🤘 To everyone, my apologies for not being able to add words to this video, at least not yet....
And played with SO many great guitar legends...
Blackmore, Schenker, Malmsteen,
Vai....probably forgetting some.
So true! So dapper with a voice that can crush bone! He was the "cool" front man.
I agree, I’ve always loved this song!
Graham Bonnet has such a distinctive and incredible voice. I am so glad to have grown up with all this great music.
What a song! What an energy! What a voice! First I heard this in 1987 being a ussr teen.
I was 8 when this came out. I love it now as I did then!
My dad would put Rainbow on during long car rides ahhhh the sound of childhood🥰
I saw Graham Bonnet perform this last night, 74yrs old and still as good
Go Graham go!
Graham bonnet great singer
This song just rocks ..43 yrs after it's release.
There isn't a single song released today that is half as good as this. Back when rock was ROCK.
If Deerhoof didn't exist, I would agree with you. That band is GREAT.
You don't need long hair and leather jackets when you've got THAT voice.
Couldn't agree more, Bonnet deserves more albums with Rainbow
Incredible voice... But only at recording
If an artist made this type of song today it would blow everything else out of the water.
They just write to a formula today, or try airy fairy types of music that don't hit you in the gut like the old days.
Graham Bonnet's voice... perfect.
stands the test of time, still amazing
Graham Bonnett . Excellent rock vocalist.
Still love this track since I heard it aged 15 in 79 now nearly 60 and still play full blast
Graham owns this song .
Blackmores seemingly effortless solo is just brilliant!
Bonnett is excellent here, but then the entire roster is excellent. This Rainbow lineup was amazing!
Graham Bonnet burning the house down!
I think that most people can relate to this song 🎵.. just remember they're an ex for a reason 💔💯
Driving my 73 Dodge Charger and blasting this on the radio….. good times! 👍👍
For me it was a Ford Torino Fastback with chrome thrush mufflers, running boards and a boombox for a stereo. I got a great deal on it ($700) since it was a total heat score! I was the envy of all my friends and it was a total chick magnet. Had this tape (among many others) in a shoebox on the passenger seat. Sigh, the good old days.
Make it loud brother
Graham Bonnet. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. NO ONE CAN MATCH HIM
excellent classic rock song. there are so many bands out there that are underrated and Rainbow was one of them. this band deserves alot more credit than got.
I’m 70. so lucky to be young at the start of all this.
How awesome is this song,it's up there with the best ever, they don't make them like this anymore/
Love this song!✋
~ I Love This Also 💖 Sublime ~
9 years on and still likes the comments.
This music is just amazing. I knew it before guardians updated it and when they did i fell in live again.
Russ Ballard is a helluva songwriter.
Graham Bonnet is the coolest front man ever! Saw them in the 80’s.
Like a straight Freddie mercury
True dat
Graham knocks it out
2022 and still jamming this badass tune!! Love it!!
Guardians of the galaxy 3 brings me here🤚🏻💕
Such an awesome music
Yes, you are right! 👍 😎
😢😢😢 old memories coming back
Bonnet is the man👍👍👍
Great past. Musicians today could learn something from these great oldies
SO appreciate these guys! I was 11 when this song was released and now 52 and STILL know and rock with these guys! So many years of " growing pain" memories and thank you to my older Sis Valerie R Johnson for all of this beauty in music that you've given me and RIP, 3-23-95 See on the flip Sis. Denise in PA
Looks like this song is about to be appreciated by yet another generation . Gunn always seems to shine a light on the best songs people have forgotten 👍
Blackmore...awesome.
This brings back memories. Haven’t heard this for 35 years.
2023 What a 70's BANGER! Graham Bonnet SMASHES it out of the Fvkn Park on this track...EPIC🤘
Classic and solid hard rock with powerpop melodic chords.
I love the late 70s/early 80s rock. Great era
one of the best songs ever
I agree.
Yea, it’s a decent cover version tbh
The stuff of legend.
When you sit back, and look at the grand scheme of everything, and your between 45-60yrs old, we were part of the technical revolution, but knew a life, very well, with turntables, LP’s, 3, 4 , 5 man bands, who for the most part, were as good or better live, as their studio versions. Today, let alone a good band, you need to search a bit to find true musicians. Musical artists, entertainers and performers are a dime a dozen, and when they need a machine to perform at a Super Bowl, for fear of making a mistake, they just made one, losing my respect.
I grew up in this era of good music, so I know what you are saying
High Fidelity my friend. I was there, dropping the needle and waiting for the magic after the crackle...❤
Ritchie Blackmore's super power was choosing vocalists.
And then promptly letting them go.
Не только вокалистов подбирал Ричи.он говорил что в Deep Purple все были главные .альбом 79 удачный как и состав в лаборатории Ричи
Bonnet is the most incredible rock singer ever. The passion is tangible.
Like so many songs off the 70's will never get old
70's Rock will never get old, but mehhh to a lot of the other stuff that was around then. I lived through it, I know!
@@jazzylyn5857
Then you wearnt listening.
Made in England when it was a great place 😁😁🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Now keep in mind Ricky Blackmore had huge reservations on Graham Bonnet cause of his not so traditional hard rocker look and wanted him to be more rough and tough looking. Graham himself had more of the that Las Vegas clean cut look ,which ironically enough gave him an advantage. He was also to succeed the likes of Dio before him, not only did Graham do that but in a lot of ways surpassed him and proved not to judge a book by its cover.
I remember a dj back in the day saying he didn't like this song. I was like go foff dude this song is awesome!
Rainbow's 1979 No1 hit 'Since You've Been Gone' is an evergreen rock classic that will NEVER grow old. Utterly timeless.
Graham awesome 👍
Classic rock perfection from Rainbow !!! Great track !!!
My guitarteacher taught me this song 10 years ago when I was a kid. It was the only song he taught me I really liked and played in my freetime. Now that he is not under us anymore I come back to this song to honor him. Thanks for everything dude. And sorry for that orange pick I stole from ya, but it lives in wallet since I quit taking lessons from you
Still amazing in 2023!!!
I was 14. 😢
Absolute Banger, after years of changing my mind I want this at my funeral. Everyone smiling on the way out, perfect...⚡
Not heard this for years, reminds me of being a teenager. Something made me want to search for this today. I still knew all the words. I still love the " Ugghh" noise he makes. Classic song. Happy days!
JUNE 2021. We woke up with this song in our head. Never realized this was RAINBOW!
I just never knew! Wow. Anyway, Ken and I are 50 yrs old this year. We look fantastic but feel like crap! Woo! ♡ LOVE💘Rainbow💘 Stone Cold, and I thought I knew you so well.
🎧🎶🎤🌈
Very underrated lead singer!
This music solves everything
😉😀😍🇺🇸
The whole era did. It was solved for just a little while.
I was happy to be there for just a while. Pre-teen 79'. We still solve everything and we are happy go lucky humans.
Frickin' timeless. PERIOD!
Cozy powell Awesome drummer. Guardians of the galaxy 3 is a godamn amazing movie.
Old music never die!!!!
Vastly underappreciated song and band.
I was sitting at a light when I heard the intro start in the car behind me and I was like what a great fucking song. Hit 95 fast and furious just to get home to hear this. One of the best songs of all time in my opinion💗
Classic Tunes. I’m back in the 80’s cruising in my brothers Trans am.
Can’t stop listening
Great , great , great song ....classic rock travel with us forever
I love rainbow, and graham's voice, fantastic.
Love Grahams voice and that haircut!
I just want to hear this again for the first time, one more time.
Heard this on the way to work the first time still with a buzz from the night before it was great lmao
Beautiful. Those were the days 💋❤
Great front man.
Such a classic. Should be played all day and every day🇬🇧🤗
Thank you Russ Ballard for writing this gem and to Rainbow for for recording the best version by far.
And yes, I've heard Brian May's version (which is great).
💯 agree 😊
I'm 41 and I have just now heard this
I'm 55 and don't remember hearing it before.
