Saka has been by far the best player in the attack. In the last 3 match the right side of pitch was the only side that had some form of attacking pressure. it's worth noting how few of the "big teams" are dominating their competition. These disappointing results are not unique to England and you have to think about how many more games players on these big teams would have played. If you're playing week in week out in the league, add on international friendlies, add on going to the last rounds of the champ league and the final rounds of the FA cup or its equivalent..the big teams' players are at a massive disadvantage. Imagine how many more games Kane has played this season than players on Slovenia. The lethargy we're seeing with England and other countries may easily be explained as overall football end of season fatigue.

Didn’t Saka start off in the arsenal first team during Emery’s tenure as a LB/LWB for half the season then slowly transitioned further up LW the following season under Emery until he got replaced midway through by Arteta. I’m not an Arsenal fan but I remember Saka’s early days on the left.

Palmer looked great - with a completely different midfield behind him rejuvenated by Kobbie, and played 20 minutes vs a tired Slovenia. That will not be the same vs Netherlands or whoever. Saka has been one of our few good players, fair enough if Palmer played in Bellingham or Kane's position, but England have been good at RW. You still start Saka, he's reliable for England, he basically has been Mr England over the last 2 or 3 years. Palmer is a FANTASTIC option off the bench, the first sub at 60 minutes.
Rice & Bellingham in the middle. Palmer on the right, Foden behind Kane and Gordon on the left linking up a little better with trips.
None of the front players have looked good & that's all down to the system, to drop Saka for Palmer is fine but you also need to drop Bellingham & Kane as they've been worse than Saka, why not do Saka on the LW Palmer RW & Foden in the 10 & put Bellingham on the bench as he's been useless the past 2 games!
One thing nobody has considered is, every team so far has sat back playing England, apart Denmark to a certain extent. Also, I don’t believe Bellingham and Foden should start together? If they do have to start together , then Foden should either start on the left or come on and replace Saka on the left as a Sub possibly. The problem with England is Southgate has too many good options and feels he has to play all the good options as starters.

Gordon played the most incisive pass of any England player this tournament and he only had 5 minutes.
What I really don't understand is with the utter domination especially in the second half... Why not drop walker or any defender and put Watkins or Toney...

Maybe we shouldn’t have left Grealish and Sterling out of the squad. I know they haven’t been lighting it up on the club level, but they were a pretty good combo in last Euro’s. Someone on the team needs to provide a spark because they look lethargic. The passing needs to be quicker and more consistent.

I'm a United fan and despise Arsenal but dropping Saka when both Bellingham and Foden and Kane have been worse is a bit harsh, Gareth needs to forget about profile of players and drop Bellingham in my opinion and let Cole Palmer play through the middle where he plays his most effective football for Chelsea, dropping Saka and sticking Palmer on the right isn't really gonna do much. Foden is on his last chance as well because this guy has NEVER EVER had a good game in an England shirt, he is flattering to deceive
You could easily drop Kane, Bellingham or Saka. There’s so many things you could change in this squad, nobody has the answer.
The lot of them haven’t been good enough. Makes you wonder whether we should completely freshen up the team and pick totally different players.

Palmer had a good cameo, different in starting and coming on though. Any good player would die in this system. Palmer started the friendlies before and he was poor. Good cameo tho
Saka has not made runs in behind or took any one on. Gordon did it in straight away you need to take a risk up to pitch. We’re playing too safe. If you don’t try you’ll never know. I hope we do it in the knock out because we HAVE to.

Jamie, Foden out on the left that never stays on the left. Get natural width on both sides. What you are suggesting only moves the attack to the left with Gordon.

That call about Bellingham is 100 percent right. He needs to be dropped.
Why is no one talking about putting Joe Gomez LB he played plenty of games there this season and did a decent job considering it isn't his natural position,

Play Bellingham alongside Rice, Foden 10, Gordon on the left, Saka on the right, Kane up front. Playing players out of position just to fit them into the team does not work. Southgate has crippled us down the left putting Trippier at left back and Foden left wing.
Can we DROP this notion that Bellingham is a 10? He simply isn't a 10, he is an 8. He only plays in the 10 position for Madrid as they don't play with a striker!
At this point drop Saka and bring him back home the where he is appreciated at The Arsenal.

Kane and Bellingham have been woeful these last two games, saka has been ok but we saw the fearless attitude of mainoo, Gordon and especially Palmer. Southgate won't make the big decisions though.and we will be knocked out while he plays his favourites.
We're blessed with left footed players who don't play on the left. The games gone!!!
